It's definitely a schtick at this point. Purdy is the real deal and it's almost 100% equivocally agreed by experts. It is going to take a come from behind win or playoff success for Nick to concede.

Ya, I doubt he watched the game, but I guarantee if it was one of the QBs he likes, he would have acknowledged the dropped passes and blocked punt were almost certainly the only reasons it wasn't a blowout, and never should have been in a position to lose on that INT. Lamar played well aside from that 1 throw.
This list is disrespectful. Purdy and Hurts have a combined 2 losses in their last 35 (combined) regular season games. That’s 33 and 2 combined. How are they not both at least top 5? Also the only two that are undefeated this year. If the question is, what QB would I like on my team, right now, those two have to be in the top 5.

I'm a die hard Mahomes fan and I believe he is the greatest QB I've ever seen. He's taken his team to the AFC championship game every year of his career as a starter, three superbowls, two rings, and two MVP's with a highlight reel that is unmatched by some HOF QB's entire careers. That said, Brock Purdy is on top of that mountain right now. If the mountain is a "thus far" marker of 2023, nobody is even coming close. Give that man his respect.

Brock is an undisputed top 5 QB right now. His situation isn’t his fault and he’s playing as well as he can. Eye test also paints a picture. IMO it’s not just that he has insane weapons but a GREAT defense and a very good oline as well. Mahomes when he came in dragged along a terrible defense with at best a mediocre oline albeit with 2 great weapons at the time. I want to see Purdy with some adversity.

Before weak 5 the Kansas city chiefs had the most pass drops with 10 drops in 4 games and the Ravens has 0. The ravens had 8 pass drops against the Steelers alone 3 of them being a TD pass drop. Let that sink in. People only gone talk about the last 2 play from Lamar but he was playing at a high level the whole game besides the last 2 plays. Heavily underrating purdy. Purdy is so good he makes it look easy. He consistently is throwing the ball before the reciever is open or out of their break. Nick has no nuance when it comes to Purdy. He elevates that offense as much as any skill player on that team. He is a legit mvp candidate and has played qb position the best this year so far.

If you're considering play so far this year, Purdy, Dobbs, Stroud, Cousins, and Russ should all be significantly higher. Also Trevor, Mahomes, Dak, and obviously Caleb should all be lower.

I don't totally understand why Nick insists so much that Trevor played better than Allen this last weekend. Their passer rating was the same, Trevor fumbled the ball 3 times (something that he has always criticized Allen for), and Allen also ran for a touchdown, which isn't reflected in his passer rating. In my opinion, Allen was actually the better qb this weekend between them. Regardless, it was close. But here we have Trevor who is moving up the mountain because of his "great" play this weekend, while Josh is moving down because of his terrible play, I guess maybe so that it's easier to move Mahomes up who arguably played marginally better than Allen against a much worse passing defense?
Genuine question, not trolling or being mean.. did you watch the game? Allen was held in check most of the game until the defense went in prevent and gave him 2 deep shots nearing garbage time. It made his somewhat decent day, look above average. Trevor made a lot of great throws throughout, especially on 3rd down. At least this week, Trevor outplayed him by a good margin.
Lawrence did outplay him. 9/10 on 3rd down and sacked 5 times. Bills were down 11 most of the 4th quarter.
And when they were only down 4, with the ball, Josh Allen threw a pick.

@@maniacslap1623The jaguar's best defense was making sure the Bills offense stayed off of the field. That int he threw was a 50/50 with Diggs. Whether or not Trevor played better, Allen is still better at the end of the day.

@@shawncline1485 I did watch the game, and saw the Jaguars establish a running game that the Bills were unable to. Making third down throws is great, but at the end of the day third down plays only make up ~ 30% of offensive plays. I don’t see any reason we should count third down plays as more important than first and second.
I also disagree that those were garbage time stats. The game was close enough that a comeback was a real possibility, and they were absolutely still aiming to win the game at that point. At the end of the day I think that the Jags’ running game was the decider in this game where the qb play and most of the rest seemed more or less equal.
@Elliottklassen If you watched the game, then you'd know Etienne had 24 carries for 69 yards, outside of his 2 big runs.. 2.8 yards a carry isn't winning you many games. I wouldn't call that establishing a running game. It wasn't his fault. The line played awful, and Trevor was either running for his life or getting the ball out as soon as he snapped it. To say 3rd down isn't more important, is genuinely 1 of the least football educated comments I've heard from an otherwise intelligent convo. Every down is important.. but show me the records of teams converting 30% vs 50--60%. It's a massive difference

Well, despite his team leading the league in drops for two seasons straight (can’t even imagine the 49ers are top 25 in that stat) despite getting set back a year with Urban Meyer he has been one of the best performing QBs since last season. Consistently an elite QB in 3rd downs and in collapsed pockets. Half the time Purdy doesn’t even make it to 3rd downs or has a collapsed pocket because he is literally on a team of all stars. Not to mention, one is competing in the AFC where as one plays in the NFC. So despite playing with CONSIDERABLY worse weapons, a worse coach, in a harder conference, Trevor has been a consistently elite QB even behind a massively injured O line.
The algorithm doesn't factor in mistakes (or lack of mistakes) highly enough. Yeah, Allen or Lawrence or Tua or Dak (maybe) might have better QB skills... but Purdy is not making the same mistakes. Top 6 QB at the moment easily! Time to fix that program.

Between the Prince and Allen, their passer rating this weekend was the same, but Trevor also fumbled three times and Josh ran a touchdown. Allen played a better game than Trevor and just as good of a game as Mahomes, but for some reason he moved down while the other two both moved up.
So you didn't get up early to watch the game and that is okay. 2 of the 3 fumbles weren't on Trevor. Josh had the same passer rating because of 2 garbage time touchdowns when Jax was in bend don't break. When they weren't he couldn't get anything going.
Let's also not forget that most people agree that the Bills have a better overall team than the Jags... so if they have the same pay rating, The Prince comes out on top sure to overall team rating.

Same should be said for Trevor, he got blindsided in the pocket and didnt get rid of the ball, his oline did get blown up but he still has to protect the ball. The narrative on this game would be VERY different if the bills came back and won. Trevors fumbles almost gave the game away.
