I chuckled when Eric went to smooch Arielle and she had full mouth of food. It was a cute moment.
Me too!! She’s trying to stuff the worlds largest salad green in her mouth with some semblance of dignity and Eric is just schmoozling away! That my friends is true love and it’s wonderful to see.
@@renabarnett2238 hilarious
That was this day's dose of wholesomeness.
They're so stickin cute.
It melted my heart. So sweet.
Okay that’s IT!! Y’all absolutely have to make a COOKBOOK!!! Seriously the amount of creative recipes you two make almost each week deserves a book!! Who else agrees?!!
I agree!! Please make a cookbook!
I agree. Would love one!!
I definitely agree.
Okay...so WHEN are we going to see the COOKBOOK?!?!? We're WAITING!!!!!!! 😀
@@lgull1 Thank you for that perfectly negative perspective! 🙄 There are quite a few people that garden and can foods and there's nothing wrong with increasing your knowledge of foraging and homesteading in general. We've all gotten too used to over processed foods and drive-thru convenience at the expense of our health. We've forgotten how to grow and eat healthy fresh foods directly from the Earth. I don't live in Alaska and most of the things they talk about ARE available in my area...but hey...you do you.
@@ostrobogulous1 ive gone to a local resivoir and ive found wild roses in abundance as well as yarrow and other things...its taught me alot how theres so much around out in public nature areas too.
@@ostrobogulous1 well great. but i was saying in general sense. agreed with your statement though.
@@scubaguy5389 Thanks! I get that it's not for everyone, but these two have worked hard to build their channel, their filming and editing is awesome and some of the food combinations are REALLY interesting! They're worth supporting!!! 😁
I would buy one
The faces that Arielle pulls when she is un-hinging her jaw to put a gigantic forkful of salad into her mouth give me so much life. You guys are just the best. I love seeing two young people making their own path in the world with so much joy and curiosity.
Lol and she's pretty... salad-eating faces and all!
She is! She is so slim and so pretty but she has no shame bout eatin good and I LOVE that about her! She got her man.. She don't need to impress us! She puts up with his farts 💁💁💁 that's what relationship is.
I love the differences between Bo and Bandit! Bo is slow and steady and quiet while Bandit is like "look at me!!! I'm the king of the hill and TAKE that you filthy stick!!!" oh the dinner looked amazing as usual!
When Bandit was trying to get Bo to play with his stick, his bark sounded just like a kid trying to get his brother to play, kind of plaintive & playful at the same time: "Bo?!? then when Bo casually saunters over to take the stick away at 9:46, Bandit scolds him: BO! BO! (Come back here, you scoundrel, that's mine!)😀
A riel can you write a cook book on the things you make would love one from the UK
👋 hi. New subscriber !!
You channel is better than watching life below zero ! 👌🏽 anyone else agree.?
I just checked about 12 hours ago to see if that show was still on telly (or possibly somewhere online, if I get around to chasing it up), seems I've missed years of it.
I preferred The Last Alaskans, that was better, or I thought so.
This channel is great though. I've become a YT addict.
Yeah it’s there in Disney+ . I watched season 15 half . I used to like it initially but now not much.
@@BrienneOfTarth5 Thanks Sally. Usually if I can't find something online these day for free, I don't watch it. I was a little annoyed when they sidelined Glen, but watching the trailers yesterday on IMDB, it looks as if they might have brought him back. I'm sure it'll appeal to some. But YT... we can see real life stuff straight from the source with no network interference.
Agreed, these kids are the envy of a large group of folks. I still like the Hailstone family on life below zero. The show is not the same since they cut the guy from Chandalar.
Easily
Seriously, anyone else feel like they could watch Eric and Arielle's videos and vlogs all day? I can't be alone when I say that I have watched every video and still can't get enough! I'm living vicariously through you two and I'm loving the ride! 💖
I love their vlogs, but haven't seen them all yet. I would love to do what they are doing, but too old for all that now.
Love your videos 📸 Thank you for sharing ❤.
I wish more of your generation had and showed the love and respect not only to each other but for the simple things in life to enjoy. You work hard, you play hard and at the end of the day you reap what you’ve sewn 10 fold. I have mad respect for you two!!
I wish MY had too!
I mean I know plenty of millennials who are like thisn
I wish the older generation would have continued to live like this... we didn't grow out of this life style, the generations before us did. And now we are going back to it, because it is truly what is best...
Arielle, I enjoy so much your versed knowledge on herbal findings. Wish I were there by your side as a mature student. You’re a very beautiful, sweet and rich woman. Ah yes! Just great to watch your two dogs at play… they are so happy!
@@logangellasch8944 Same. My kids are millienials, competant, compassionate, wonderful humans.
How many other that like the video before even watching it? Knowing is going to be a great video.
My god there’s nothing I need more from y’all than a cookbook. Your relationship with food is my most favorite thing.
Boy, you feed that man and he gets all happy and handsy, i feel that.
Bingo! Not only is Ariel SMOKIN hot but she will get dirty! And she brings so much life to EVERYTHING.. we are besties.. She just doesn't know me yet 😂😂💖💖
“Impromptu set of scones” what a queen
Am I the only one that loves the sound of greens being cut/picked?
8:38 I guess you could say those wild Irises are... _Outstanding in their field._
They are Siberian Iris, I think or Japanese Iris and they are sold in garden centers. They come in several dominant shades. That one looks blue, which I got as a hand me down from an old farm stock and dark purple. I bought "pink" but it did not bloom pink.
Nothing better than coming home from work and watching my favorite Alaskan couple 🥳🥳
Watching them enjoying their daily lives is quite enjoyable.
This whole video was awesome but dude, when you reached for that hug and kissed her, I was like 🥰🥰🥰😻😻😻. So so sweet. But that chunk of lettuce was so big she couldn’t get it in her mouth that easy. Soooo , let’s try that again when she can actually live on you too. 😉 Y’all are super cute. Love you both. God bless you.
You should set up hugelkultur mounds with all the extra brush & wood chips
Yes that's naturally been my method for over 20 years. When I bought property in Oregon I had a my septic leach lines going from house to back property. So I didn't want to dig so always added soil instead.
Yep and it will become good enough to plant in, perhaps squashes that like to roam. It could be a very interesting photo to take, a pumpkin here, cucumbers there and dangling melons and acorn squash mixed in. LOL. My imagination.
You guys are so creative and knowledgeable. I love your channel. The dogs are a riot too. Arielle, I NEED your scone and bread recipes PLEASE!
The stumps can be used for a hugelkultur (yes it’s spelled correctly) raised garden bed with all of the stumps you have
Good Idea! I was thinking push it off in the bog......and level out
I love hügelkultur beds, but for the top growth to succeed they would need to avoid wood from allelopathic trees like black walnut (for its juglone toxicity); high-resin trees like pine, spruce, yew, juniper and cedar; and hard, rot-resistant woods such as black locust, Osage orange and redwood and any type of wood with sprouting potential (such as willow) should be completely dead before using. I think some of the trees in their pile are in these categories.
And it'll only take 200 years for those big ass stumps in the bottom of the beds to compost down to humus. Those wood chips he got would be 1,000 x's better for putting in the bottom half.
13:25…That’s an excellent spruce burl. A woodworker would make a great bowl from it.
And thanks for another great video!
Just Thinkin the same thing!
Ahhhhhh I was totally wondering if that was one of those weird cork lookin things they make tea from or a burl!! I have watched a bunch of diff types of documentaries and such about burls
Would you both ever consider doing a harvesting/cooking style video while answering FAQs from the fan base? I love how therapeutic watching the harvest or cooking process is, I would also love to hear you answer others questions that you may not get to on a regular basis. Thank you for always providing amazing content ❤️
All of your hard work and devotion has so paid off, your all living the dream, except for the litter box's
I love that your videos do not have any / too much distracting music, just pure raw videos. ❤️
Watching this reminds me to get outside this weekend and gather the wild Rose's, hawkweed, dandelions, plantain, and daisies... oh! Making a tea from chamomile, but not adding sugar, will help keep mosquitoes away if you put it in a spray bottle and spritz it on you and the dogs. Also, it doesn't smell bad
What is hawkweed?
@@irahall4018 it's a flower, usually yellow or red, that looks like a bunch of dandelions on one really long stem. It's not a dandelion, is currently considered invasive in most of the USA, and is easy to spot once you see them once
I didn't know that about chamomile. I will try that.
@@thatsalt1560 I'm glad that I might have been able to help
Love these longer videos! Keep them coming!
Another great video as always. The old name for dandelion jelly or syrup is poor man's honey. It's another reason bee's love it. Love making herbal salts, and wanted to say please use parchment paper when making it. If it gets too warm the wax will come out of the wax paper. Have a blessed evening. Now waiting patiently for the next video. 🍀
OMG that salmon looks so good. I’m not sure you guys know how much of a contribution to Foxfire life as you have. Literally. You need to do something epic with all of this information and knowledge. Your videos should be archived in the Alaska or USA documentaries. I would say that this is the kind of legacy that. Proenneke may have imagined when he struck out in Alaska. Sometimes we are too close to the fire to recognized our own contributions to others. I respectfully ask that you take stock of all of this, and look at it at 30,000 feet and see how many people that you are (now) influencing, and how many more you could influence in the future. I truly admire all that you are doing. It’s a real contribution to us all.
How about an off grid Air B&B cheap sheds that are well is insulated plenty of firewood and a big pop belly stove great for people for stop before going on a one in life time Adventure for game or fish!! Easy to maintain too once a week go clean them if I lived out there would definitely have a few $$$$
I was thinking that too! You could make a decent living on an Airbnb in Alaska! You could also make it more than just a place to sleep you could offer your listing as an experience and offer different options for an extra price like guided fishing trips, or guided foraging and then cooking what you found, guided hunting and then cooking, sooo many possibilities!!!! People pay really good money for those types of experiences and you two would be amazing at it!!! Seriously! If I wasn’t disabled I would totally book adventures with you guys when we go to Alaska! Oh and I also would start on Airbnb but then once you get comfortable with everything I would definitely move to doing it on your own with your own website because you have enough followers and word of mouth to do it on your own and then you would get all the profits.
Yes,most definitely bb n b,tours or brochure.Great property investment as I've said before,u two r great
@@bluesoldierette You have a great idea, but I am sure Alaska would have some regulations which they have to follow to open a tour-guided type of business.
I personally would pay to stay at a place like that! And have the opportunity to hang out with y'all and pick your brain. Have you take me to some of these beautiful places you love.. And learn and forage WITH YOU! learning hands on from you 💖💖💖 I dunno.. I don't know if that is ever something y'all would be down for. But I 1000000% totally believe in you and KNOW you guys would kill that!!
I TOTALLY support this idea.. And depending how much support they will need I would have them a generator for "just in case" and a way to contact you or help if by chance they need help figuring things out ya know. Like off grid air B&B for pros who can handle their own. Or special "extra services" for say the city folks where u kinda set them up for success and give them an instructional tour. And maybe take them on a tour of "YOUR part of Alaska" the wild. A fishin hole. Your favorite views.. Etc. I see you makin some great money! I would gladly pay great money to stay in your air b&b. And have your support thru it.. Learn hand over hand directly from you. Having you show me all the beautiful places that only live on my tv. I would love to hang out with y'all for a day and learn more about the wilderness. And get some of the most peaceful sleep and chillin without a worry in my mind cause I'm in Alaska in an offgrid cabin where NOONE CAN FIND ME!!
Many blessings. 💖💖
Hi! I am in love with you guys and your way of life. I am from North Carolina, and try to grow as much of our food as possible! So envious of you being able to fish for salmon! I know you guys rely on moose also, and do you raise some of your chickens for food? I love watching you cook also! You two make a great team! First time commenting, but I get excited when I see a new video of yours posted! Thank you for sharing!
I’m still binge watching all of your videos! Love watching you two live off the land! Your so good to your sweet dogs too 🥰 you both could open a B&B and make many people happy with that cooking and hospitality.
I just want to say that the way the two of you get so much pleasure out of growing/harvesting your own food ingredients and then using everything in your cooking...its totally contageous!! Love watching you work as a team on EVERYTHING! Great videos...thanks for the content.
i cant believe it's been 3 years since ive been watching your alaska adventures! how time flies!! ya'll are so awesome :)
Alaska in June bursting with plenitud all over - I’ve been there, just great!
But nothing like my heart is filled with joy to see the tenderness with which Eric embraced Arielle while so naturally enjoying a full mouth of food. Definitely you are my precious TH-cam friends in Alaska paradise. Thank you for sharing. Keep happy and safe.
The lady seems like such a natural teacher, easy to listen too and intelligent.
Ariel is AMAZING! 💖💋
My husband is a big fisherman and in winter he always bring home Huge Atlantic Salmons that he catches Near us On Lake Ontario. Right now he has been bringing home Perch which is MY favorite. We like to dip the Perch in a bit of Thinned out Pancake batter and fry in a little butter. Yummy!
My family fish…a lot! We live near Lake Ontario also. My Mom used to can the salmon that my Dad caught, it was delicious! They always had big fish fries every year and the fish they liked the most was Perch! My Dad and I were big fans of Walleye.
Wow I didn’t know that the salmon came up into the lake!
@redinthevalley: Yes, we have salmon in the Great Lakes- at least the Upper Lakes, Michigan, Huron & Superior- along with other really excellent fish! Idk about Erie- I think it’s the most challenged of the Great Lakes. But come up and go fishing!
@@salyluz6535 we have them in Lake Ontario. Not sure about Erie.
When your dog had that stick I said, get it boy! Show that stick who’s boss!!
Dandelion flowers are really good battered and fried. Makes a good wine too, we used to make it and it made a great marinades for pork and chicken.
The dinner segment - priceless! You have an amazing instinct for food preparation, and you clearly appreciate good food. Love watching you forage and prepare your harvest.
Maybe one day y'all could build an outdoor enclosed kitchen with screened windows. Would certainly help keep the flies away while you're cooking :)
Great idea!
I was wondering if they were going to build another storage for canning?
Your lettuce from the garden looked so delicious. I will now go to bed craving salad from Alaska!
When I lived in Alaska I made wild rose syrup too! I loved to use it to sweeten my tea in the mornings. Thank you for sharing this - I miss Alaska and your videos bring back so many good memories.
You are the handiest two people I have ever seen, quite the pair to say the least. I love this simple living, and Eric is quite the chef as well.
minute 14:46 - Bluebells are SO sweet-looking! and love the colors.... Eric says they taste sweet too!
The difference between Bo and Bandit is so cute and funny...one's so zen and the other is a maniac I love it 😍😂
I love learning from your foraging. Thank you for sharing.
I love how you love each other when you gave your wife a hug and kiss! I miss that so much!
Great cooking and foraging as always. I learned a lot!
As always, I am so impressed by your culinary endeavors! Also, there was a moment of peak physical comedy in there when Eric went into give Arielle a kiss RIGHT when she’d taken the world’s biggest bite of salad - I laughed.
I am bringing my wild rose tea to a boil as I watch this again! I love what you two do. You are such an inspiration for the simple life and hard work!!
Love the thumbnail, Eric yr a trip and Back. 🤘
Y'all make me smile. Just noticed Bandit is rocking the David Bowie eyes.
One of the dandelions in my yard was strikingly variegated this year. That was pretty cool. My parrot and I eat the greens!
I really enjoy when u do videos on the nature's grocery store,I enjoy learning each edible plants. U both are an inspiration to all who want a more free lifestyle. U too enjoy Eric and Arielle. Those did look like turkey tail mushrooms,do u grow pheasant back mushrooms as well.
A lot of people now prefer living in rural than in cities. It is less stressful in rural. We will surely share this video with our customers for them to get awesome ideas from you. Thanks for this video!
I see a granny log cabin for me on that wonderful land you have !!! Oh and I’ll be the ‘professional food taster’ when you get round to planning your cook book 😁 … sorted !
Great vlog as usual … great to see you two and the doggies relaxed enjoying your land
🙏☘️😘
I'm wondering about what you said regarding the roses and the bitterness when you steep them as tea. Do you always steep your herbal teas with boiling water? I know that if I use boiling water with a delicate tea, like white or green tea, it makes them taste REALLY bitter. If you end up with more roses (and I'm headed to Hatcher Pass this weekend to see what's out and about), maybe try steeping them at just under boiling, like 180 or 190 degrees (to me, it's when I can start to "hear" the water heating up) and see if that helps?
With all of the fish you eat, you would probably really enjoy dandelion "capers". You harvest the bud just as it emerges from the ground.
Excited to be coming to Anchorage in 3 weeks to visit our daughter's family who moved there 2 years ago. Between your videos and their prodding, I could see us ending up moving
there, lol!
You guys are better than any show that I've seen on the Food Network. Thanks.
Have you considered building a huge Hügelkultur mound out of the soily stump mound ? Turn a problem into a free food growing solution that could increase the rent value of the possible future
rental property.
Also, I've been eating Dandelion flowers for about 40 years, I fry the flowers in the same breading or batter and grease after frying Morel mushrooms, the Dandelions take on much of the flavor of the Morels. 😋
How good is it to be able to have freshly picked food on your table every day? Just amazing!
Those scones with the egg wash and drizzle of syrup - so photogenic, my goodness. I wouldn't bat an eye if I saw a picture of that in a recipe book
Yessss!!!! Perfect to start the weekend 🥳🥳🥳 love you guys!
Y'all always make the most interesting things to eat. I really wish I knew how to forage, but I just don't trust myself. But! I am continuing to grow our food this year. I had no idea y'all were developing the second property as an income property. That's such a cool idea! I still look forward to seeing what y'all do with it! I seriously almost hope it will end up being some quirky yet super cool place with wonderful edible gardens to walk through. Edible meaning like the flowers that can be eaten as you walk along. That would be so stinkin' awesome! And, let's face it, millennials are looking for those destination properties for vacation. Done right, y'all, you're sitting on a gold mine. 😉
Paulla there’s many interesting videos out there to help you confidently identify plants! One channel I can recommend with trustworthiness is “She is of the woods” her name is April she is Amazing and extremely knowledgeable about wild foraging. Btw her information is free and doesn’t believe that knowledge should be behind a paywall, I believe it’s part of her spiritual beliefs. I have learned so much from her channel over the years, I hope she can help you too! Another channel I trust is one called “Learn the land” he has an actual degree in plants and their properties for those who would rather listen to someone from that area of education. I hope this helps you some! Enjoy learning the plants! Sorry had to edit; his channel is called “learn your land”
I always feel better going forging with a knowledgeable person.
I wonder why they don't use that cleared area, it would be perfect for building a house
@@christinarobleto1786 - I think you may be referring to the marsh land area. Not the place for building a house for sure.
You two have used the modern world and its technology to facilitate your life away from it so incredibly well. It's pure genius. So many could and some probably have learned so much from you about how to live their dreams. I watch how you live and what you do and try to file it away in my mind for when I can do something even half way what you have.
And, on the side, it is an inspiration to those alone looking for someone of the same dreams, that the two of you found each other, and planned and built the life you both wanted, together. Love watching what you do and how you do it, and that you both work so well together to accomplish it. So happy for the two of you, please keep it up.
Why am I so fascinated with this page! I love the way you guys live off the land!
Spruce Tip Tempura = GENIUS
Can you use the mulch in your garden? Move it to an area on the property for composting. Move the tree stumps out to the marshy area might be cheaper than having it removed. I think it'll make a great rental property and much needed.
I have a 20 year old plum tree that had not had plums in 3 years. It is loaded down this year. Wish I could send you a bunch, they make a beautiful jam.
I 💜 plum jelly
Eric & Arielle, most admirable couples living together in a remote area in Alaska, Eric is a man of all Trades, he is a cook, builder, carpenter, electrician, mechanic, fisherman, gardener...etc. So is Arielle, she hunted a Moose, & butcher it professionally, I think Eric mention one time, that Arielle took a course on that. Above all, they are both a professional of making an excellent & entertaining U tube videos, recording there daily life on an entertaining professionally done videos. Keep up the good work. I enjoy watching your excellent videos, God Bless both of you.
The sound of chopping salt is just amazing lol who would’ve thought that would be something people would like lol
Cool. You could make it a campsite rental, OR a mushroom grow site like they do in Japan... they used logs on wood supports to grow them.
I love seeing all the different plants. I can't believe you have wild roses blooming already!
I started watching the two of you a short while ago and I realized some of your videos I'm watching are older as well as the newer ones but I humbly say this. I've been in the world a long time and I'm telling you I am in awe of your knowledge and skills.
Especially after you mentioned your backgrounds I thought maybe you had careers that gave you these skills but you are far above any of the videos of off-grid cabins that I have watched.
I do admire a lot of the off-grid cabin or huts whatever they may be but I haven't found anything that lives up to what you have accomplished. Then I've just come across your 2021 video of the other parcel of land that you bought. I have shared your videos with other people n they feel the same way. You've actually got a little mini town you got your beautiful garden of vegetables the canning the building of the root cellar putting that siding on your house just the two of you. All the recipes and tips and information you give.
I don't know if there's anything that you don't know about in those woods.
And of course being an animal lover I love the dogs and the cat out there and you making sure the dogs are warm on certain days.
I am a little curious about the cat though I've seen you I guess maybe an earlier videos leave to go away from your cabin and you take the dogs but what happens to the cat is he tucked away somewhere else that we don't know.
I love watching your fur babies as well. I was surprised to hear that both your dogs are the same age where one seems older the other one seems like a puppy..lol
I grew up with a mother who kept canning and making her own bread and anything else. Even though I tried I was never blessed like she was with doing that. Each video that I see whether it be an older video or a newer video I learn something and I'm always impressed. 🙋
Your appreciation of nature is astounding. Respecting the healing birch, glorifying the little frog, only harvesting a small amount of plant life...all you ways are lessons to us all.
Oh thank God, now my puppy will settle down for 37 minutes. She absolutely loves watching you guys lol
Once again guts, great video. I love your new home. Chickens are very happy. Hers to many years of adventure in your new home 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Nothing makes me more happier than watching a simple living Alaska video 😁
Awe! you two love birds enjoying the fruits of your labor, love the vlog guys have an amazing day and stay safe 😊
Beautiful, it must be paradise living right outside the biggest salad in the world. That salmon sure looked good. I've found a balsamic vinaigrette that is absolutely wonderful, just love it. Take care, Jimmy
Never one to comment, but I've been enjoying some Zen watching you two.
I feel like your "mom" now that lives in Iowa and is worried about you - as well as Bo & Bandit.
I am so happy you are living your best lives.
(Baking soda & water (made into a paste) is wonderful for pulling the sting out of bee stings and bug bites in general.)
Thank you for teaching us about plants that can be used for teas. Also about how to make them into teas.
I just found your channel a month. And I have been watching every single. And I love y'all and every one of your videos.
Saw this before moving to Alaska and enjoyed harvesting and tasting spruce tips for the first time this year. We made a spruce tip hummus! Thank you for sharing your creativity in your kitchen!
I admire you guys so much..so much energy....the energy comes from your love of what you are doing....and that you are soul mates....love ya
Everything you guys make bake or cook looks so fresh clean and yummy.thanks for sharing. 👍😊

You both have such wide, happy smiles in these videos. Your joy in life is contagious. Thank you for brightening my day (again).
Can’t wait to see what you guys are going to do with the new property! I’d be interested to know how you are going to remove that big pile. Keep us posted!
the best gardeners by far on youtube, pisses me off , i'm like how they do that, stay safe guys
Love to see your land and Alaska in general, it's so beautiful! It's interesting how you can find a lot of your ingredients in the wild! You should measure your dry sugar in a dry measuring cup versus a liquid measuring cup.
You guys are so good in front of the camera I see a series in your future. “Life in Alaska with Eric & Arielle”. It’s better than what is currently being filed in Alaska.
Your cooking is amazing. I've been cooking and baking for 60years and I totally failed at making deep fried fish the other day. Love your videos and cooking and garden, foraging videos
Fantastic thanks so much all your hard work pays off in a lovely meal and all the animals and wildlife xxxx
You're both such beautiful people. I am happy for you and your doggies. Thank you for allowing us into your life.
Bo is my spirit animal.
Love it when you eat the food after you cook it and discuss how it tastes!
I love how much love and respect for nature that you have.
After a stressful day
I watch your channel and unwind 🙏
Your syrup looks so pretty! All the colors in jars at the end of canning season brings me such joy! I am wondering what your high tunnel is looking like about now. Thanks for sharing your life with us!!
