    I did the 2010 steering wheel upgrade to my 2006 GT back in March 2024. Awesome! Perfect video everything worked the first test. I initially had a boss (junk) installed and the kit came with the C2R-FRD1 in the harness package. Bought the pioneer NEX and I ordered the SWI - RC1 for the steering wheel upgrade and new radio. The wiring diagram shows wiring from the SWI and through the C2R. I removed the C2R and no pops an we’re enjoying the radio now. Thank you! Cheers

      So personally I would bypass the c2r as the more things you have, the more failure points you could potentially have. As for the 12v to 5v step down isn’t needed unless you are talking about for the radio side if you have the upgraded system. Hope this helps. Best of luck. Thanks for watching!

      You nailed like you always do. I took the C2R out and wired the RC-1 in and it ops checked perfect. I didn’t splice the 12v-5v step down resistor and we have a mighty fine sounding stereo in my 2006 GT Banshee project. Thanks again, I enjoy your videos. Cheers

    so I don't mean to intrude or anything, if you hook up the pac module and it flashes once then turns off, turn the 1-8 switches to up and program the buttons to each function like he did in this video, it had me baffled for so long, I had everything wired but the module wouldn't do anything, until I switched them all to up (the 4 on the side stay the same I believe)

      Well put! I know the info for the switches I believe all was available on the pac website. Plus their customer service is always great. Thanks for watching!

    What do you hook up the black wire to on the swi Rc 1 on the side with the brown blue black and headphone jack thing? Do I just hook it up to a a ground? Also what about the blue and brown?

      So, in this case I changed out the 2005-2010 steering wheel for the 2011-2014. This gives you more controls for the radio. Which is what I’m referencing, there’s a yellow and purple. For that video check this out: How to retrofit 2010+ Mustang steering wheel into a 2005-2009 Mustang S197

      As for the rest of the harness, everything else should be the exact same. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    Hey so I followed this guide while wiring up my radio and the PAC unit will stay on while the car is off causing my radio to stay on and kill my battery. What could I do to fix that? Because I love the steering controls.

    • @JunkyardJunkie
      @JunkyardJunkie  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have to ask first, it was fine before hand correct? If so what I would do is go back into the unit and the power wire for the device make sure it only has 12volts with the key on. Your radio will have a 12volt constant and a acc 12 volt. Make sure it didn’t some how get mixed up. Double check everything. Let me know what you find and we’ll figure it out. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    • @dakotamcghee8421
      @dakotamcghee8421 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I went back and looked at everything and all the wires were the same as what you did color wise at least. I’m also using a Pioneer head unit so I doubt there would be much variation in the wiring color scheme. Do you think I could run the power ire’s from the PAC unit to the Remote Wire on the radio like I would do an amplifier?

    What does it mean when the swi Rc 1 is orange and flashing red when I’m done programming

    • @JunkyardJunkie
      @JunkyardJunkie  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It means that you didn’t make it all the way through programming so you’d have to do it again. Make sure to press the buttons hard when doing it, and you should see it blink green whenever it registers that you pressed one of the buttons. Hope this helps. Thanks thanks for watching!

      I would check the wires first and make sure it has power still going to it once it kicks off. You can also contact pac directly they’re are extremely helpful. They may replace the unit if it happens to be faulty.

    If I choose to not use the control pac would the steering controls still work ?

    • @JunkyardJunkie
      @JunkyardJunkie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Without pac your stereo controls won’t work (unless you have a radio that ties it in to it). But if your asking will the cruise control and non stereo buttons work, then the answer is yes. Many people swap the steering wheel without doing steering wheel controls. I would do steering wheel controls to have full experience but you don’t have to. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

      @@JunkyardJunkie if I was to pair this with the Dinavin radio system would the same process apply as far as the wiring ? Also the first conector we make with the red and black conector that will only go connected towards the control pack correct ?

    • @JunkyardJunkie

      Dinavin radios are really popular. You’re suppose to be able to hook up to the back of the radio using the yellow and purple wire. But I know a lot of people have trouble getting all controls to work. So I would recommend pioneer or something similar for full functionality.

    Hey guys make sure you ground your YELLOW steering wheel wire (the wire you connect to your solid white swi Rc 1 wire) it didn’t work till I did this. Without doing this your swi Rc 1 can’t ground the voltage to get it to a specific voltage to know what button you’re pressing.
    To do this I just cut the solid white swi Rc 1 wire coming from the yellow steering wheel wire and twisted those wires together put them in a butt connector, crimped it and put a wire that was connected to a ground in the other side, crimped it and steering wheel controls work now

    • @JunkyardJunkie

      That’s strange I havnt had to do that on any of the ones if done. But I do know the trouble I had is you had to press hard on the buttons when programming them or they didn’t give the proper signal. But I will remember this if it ever doesn’t work one day. What’s your year model?

    • @user-jn9tm9zd1e
      @user-jn9tm9zd1e 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JunkyardJunkie you weren’t joking when you said you really REALLY have to press hard cuz it has to know what signal it is for like a good second so the signal can stabilize fully but I heard someone say online somewhere else that it takes away the voltage and sends it to a ground and that’s how it changes the voltage so it knows what button is being pressed. I have an 06 mustang but if you didn’t do that then idk but when I did that it seemed to work better but I’m still not 100 percent sure but the talk, hang up, and ok button will not register at all no matter how hard I press which is weird because I thought those buttons were hooked up to the same wires (purple and yellow) as the rest of the buttons on the right side

      @@koryburdette7478 what year is your steering wheel? Mine won’t work because it’s the wrong year and all the buttons don’t send the right voltage but the only ones the work on mine are the volume up and down, forward, backward, and the music note button and the rest don’t work but that’s because mine is a 2014 steering wheel so I need to get either the switches or the switches and the wiring harness from the 2012 but I think all I need is the switches from the 2012 and then it will work because I think they put more and different types of voltages in the 2014 because there’s more buttons (the up and down arrows and ok button on the left and the cruise control buttons are different so I think they changed a lot of the voltages around so I think just get the 2012 mustang steering wheel switches and put em in plug em in program it again and it should work just make sure you press REALLY hard for like almost for a full second when you program it because the voltage that it detects needs to level out and be spot on so the pac module knows exactly what to memorize and I think that should work
