  • Think of it as a Nissan 350Z estate, because it goes like stink yet is practical and spacious. I put a 2004 Nissan Stagea V35 through its paces. It has a 5-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. It makes an AMAZING noise too.

    The late 1990s and early 2000s - when estate cars and mass market hatchbacks had V6s and sounded considerably better than 2020s Formula-1 cars. I think I have come to the conclusion that I prefer V6s to straight 6s. Much growlier in general. I don't think they are really that much worse on fuel in normal use, the problem is that they make THAT sound when you press the faster pedal, and it is so addictive. Come the year 2030 and beyond, cars with that sound are going to be traded on the black market.

    Is this the non-turbo version? In the next village along there's someone who has a WC34 series 2 (the high beams are in the grill). I've passed it many a day wondering what it was, and now I know. Might go and knock on his door for more info. This gives me a resurgent lust for a 90's JDM import again. I owned a 1992 Subaru Legacy Turbo Estate/Wagon (at the time not available in the UK) and it was hilarious. Wish I'd held onto that money pit, despite 16mpg, despite super-unleaded, despite its mad exhaust. Also that old thing was a proper sleeper, looked like sh*t, but could even surprise boy racer Focus ST or whatever that modern rubbish is.

    I have an unhealthy hankering for a mk1 stagea. Love the look of them.
    Am I weird?

      A friend had a mk 1 Stagea a few years ago, it was my introduction to interesting Japanese estates. It made a lasting impression on me.
      Not wierd.

    Nice car, is this V6 engine a Renault engine like the 3.5 engine in the 350Z?

    • @HubNut
      @HubNut  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It isn't a Renault engine. It was used in some Renaults, but its 100% Nissan.

    What's the annual VED bill on an imported V6 monster like this?
    I'm thinking the closest Volvo rival would be the P2 V70R AWD with geartronic. Bit more power but from a smaller engine with one less cylinder. Equally as satisfying in terms of exhaust audio though 😁

      Road tax is broken down merely into the pre-2001 classes, so it's not too bad.

    The owner of this beautiful beast is really looking after it, I saw this tested a couple of years ago and having anothe 30k has done it no harm, in fact it looks better. Nice to see Ian enjoying power, I think we all have that in us just not every day!
