I have heard that you should use either water that has been boiled & cooled or distilled water so that mildew doesn't grow. Many municipalities use so many chemicals to treat our water.
Girl, do you know everything?! Lol!! Love it!! It’s so exciting every time I see you’ve posted. By the way, I got my table finished. I’ve used it a bunch. Just got my logo made and printed it. I put it on a piece of wood using the reverse transfer!! It worked!! Thank you for teaching me!! 😚 ❤️ 🙏🏼
Not sure what you mean by ‘the water transfer method’ but I have successfully used thinned down pva glue (not the school glue type but the type you buy for woodworking) and applied a bunch of thin layers (maybe 5) to a printed picture letting it dry between layers. Glued it to another surface. Let it dry fully again. Then wet and rubbed off the paper until it was smooth and clear and it worked perfectly.
I really appreciate your honesty and all of your wisdom and knowledge that you share with us thank you so much I love your Channel I have learned a lot from you again thank you have a great evening and God bless you
Just picked up clearance "Christmas" paper that could be used year round. I got two tubes (the same) with the purpose of modpodging cardboard boxes with it to store crafts, clothes, basically be seen on a shelf and disguise a cardboard box. Hoping the homemade stuff will save me money!!
Thank you. I have often wondered about home-made Mod Podge but have been hesitant to use it. I might try it for working with children but I think I will stick with Mod Podge for my crafts. Thank you again for an excellent video.
I have never had problems with it being sticky because I always use a poly acrylic sealer as a top coat. I don't like to use mod podge for a final coat
I'd use the stronger Industrial PVA but use a little more water. Thanks for posting this video. At time of watching, my son and I are discussing Mod Podge for different modelling uses. Cheers! I'll look by again. Keep Safe and Keep Well!
new to decoupage - doing Christmas ornaments from old family cards from the 1940' thru 1990's as a way to remember our family- pictures of the cards on the front and their writing on the back- would you suggest homemade or mod podge- want them to last (playing with making the card pictures thinner- a bit of work my other question is we have a million pinecones on our property- just learned about putting them in the oven to open up- many videos suggest using modpodge as glue-(making german glass pinecones) would the home made be better - we are doing so many - just found your channel today= now that I'm retired finally have time to learn to craft
I loved the video. Going to follow the recipe definitely . But I am sorry if i sound kind of confused. I couldn't make sense of the last couple of sentences. 1. It doesn't do the "reverse graphics tranfer". 2. But I use my mod podge to make my signs and do the "reverse technique ". So my question is what is the difference between reverse transfer method and reverse technique for signs etc? Then There's no comparison between a store bought and a home made for quality BUT when I am selling a project or want a really high quality finish on it I use my mod podge. So my question is then which one is better? Homemade or store bought?
Would it work if i used homemade for base and store bought for sealing? Also when you want water put the measuring ccup in container of water instead of pouring. Love your vids from london canada
🤍🖤❤️❤️👍 I made some !! I even put a little bit of green l (half a teaspoon) ❤️ paint just to give it some kind of color I put very little but it gives it that nice effect of having some kind of clear color! 😋👍
Thanku for doing this video definitely going to try your homemade mod podge as I cannot afford the real thing but I would like to try this as I want to try making a glitter bauble
Either will work as long as it is water based so it doesn't yellow and yes it would work the same as hard coat. I don't like to use mod podge as a final coat I seal my projects with a poly acrylic to finish off. Hope that helps out :)
I've read that modge podge can work as a sealer as well though, like to coat paintings, or decals and stuff. I'm assuming this homemade recipe wouldn't work for that since it has the powder correct? I assume it would reduce clarity of the image. It seems like the homemade modge podge would be best for things like thickening paints, glue, and to prime canvases, correct? I am trying to find a good paint sealer I can use on poster board, but liquitex & gamisol seem too wet or thick and would warp the board. And acrylic sprays stink to high heavens and I can't use them inside.
I suggest retrying making the modpodge with distilled water, you'll find the quality is just as good if not BETTER the only thing you didnt do correctly was add 1/2 tsp of the polyacrylic , all homemade modpodge MUST have the 1/2 tsp to be high quality.
This is very good info! I have thought many times of making the DIY Mod Podge but haven"t. I am a Mod Podge snob and just bought it. Now I am glad I did buy it. I would rather pay more for quality and know it works better. Thank you so much for this video!
I've used the glue mixture forever, especially traditional decoupage no need to use Modgepodge, I've been decoupaging before modpode was created. I also reverse decoupage with the glue mixture. when done correctly i have no issues expect when the paper is black. My projects still come out professional without the modge pode. I do however sometimes use modgepodge for the outer layers or to waterproof
I have never had much luck with the homemade my Pagé transfers, so you’ve kind of inspired me to try it again and see if I can get it to work. Glad you enjoyed.
QUESTION, SO MOD PODGE IS JUST LIKE A HARDENER? JUST LIKE CEMENT OR PLASTER OF PARIS? SO TO FINALIZE, MOD PODGE TO HARDEN, THEN GESSO MIX WITH COLOR PAITN? :)
I just found your channel and I am binge watching you. I was going to try your reverse transfer technique and I have home made mod podge but just heard you say it doesn't work for that. Does it not transfer at all or does it transfer but just not as well as with Real Mod Podge? Thanks for your very informative channel!
Nice tutorial for beginners. You state that real Mod Podge gives a much better quality finish but don’t actually state what that quality is. Does it hold up better over time? Does its appearance look better than the home made? Does it take paint better? What are the qualities that you speak of for Mod Podge which make it superior to home made.
would you say this is ok to seal diorama terrain¿¿ to seal flock, sand, little rocks and painted cardboard and unicel structures like hoses and little bridges¿
Is the mod podge water resistant bc im making a bathtub tray for my mom and idk what to use to seal it and not ruin it lol and I was looking it up and this video popped up so I figured id watch it and comment asking you if it was water resistant or not
Hey! I was planning on making a custom phone case with either paint or paper. Idk if once I'm done to use a layer of mod podge over it but they don't sell mod podge near me. I'm worried it will ruin it if it rains or just gets wet, so should I use this homemade one, or is there something I can buy that prevents water from damaging it? Also great video! :)
You mention that the brand mod podge does have a better finish. Have you figured out why this would be? Is there something chemically different in the brand name versus making it from school glue?
School glue, typically white glue, is designed for paper, cardboard, and lightweight crafts. Wood glue, such as carpenter's glue, is specifically formulated for bonding wood surfaces and provides a stronger and more durable hold suitable for woodworking projects.
Thank you for sharing this video. But, CAN I USE THIS HOMEMADE MOD PODGE FOR TRANSFER PHOTO TO FABRIC? Please Answer. Thanks for your help. GOD BLESS YOU

Hi. Thank you for sharing your videos. I’m new to your channel. I am a subscriber. Does the homemade Mod Podge seal as well as store bought?
Thanks
How do we get on the email list now?
What is a good poly acrylic sealer, or r they all about the same?
They all will be good quality ❤️
I am so glad that you actually said MOD PODGE and not MODGE PODGE!!!!
I finally found it. I've watched a hundred videos now and you are the only one smart enough to add polyacrylic. Awesome...
Glad
It was helpful!
I’ve made some before and it worked perfectly but I didn’t know that I could make it in glossy or flat so I’ve learned something new now .
Yep can change the finish! Thanks for watching Rita

Shocking how expensive Modpodge is. So happy to know I've been doing it right (making my own) but didn't know how to make it glossy. Thank you :)
Glad I could help!
Also, I just wanted to ask if ur makin it with glue does it like strech after it dries??
Thank you for this honest comparison, and how we might use the homemade vs the real deal.
Glad it was helpful!
I really appreciate your honesty!

I love this recipe. I've been using it in paper mache. And I took it one step farther and starting adding food color or pair to it
Great idea!
Hi. What do you make with paper mache? I haven't done that in awhile, but it was a lot of fun to do.

I love your videos I tried a few of the simple one with plastic to transfer pictures. you're doing great job.

But I am sorry if i sound kind of confused. I couldn't make sense of the last couple of sentences.
1. It doesn't do the "reverse graphics tranfer".
2. But I use my mod podge to make my signs and do the "reverse technique ".

Homemade or store bought?
The store-bought mod podge will only work with the transfer method. The homemade will not work. It will only work as a decoupage glue.
Glue yellows as it ages. So does modge podge. So you might want to use a better quality medium watered down with distilled water for resale.
What is a better medium that doesn't yellow?
Tks.
Very informative. Thank you.

Would it work if i used homemade for base and store bought for sealing? Also when you want water put the measuring ccup in container of water instead of pouring. Love your vids from london canada

Can you use polyurethane or do you need polyacrylic? Also, if you add the sealer....would that be similar to the Mod Podge Hard Coat?
watching for your answer
Either will work as long as it is water based so it doesn't yellow and yes it would work the same as hard coat. I don't like to use mod podge as a final coat I seal my projects with a poly acrylic to finish off. Hope that helps out :)
For the regular mod poge is it 2 one cups of glue and 1/2 a cup of water or a cup of water?
Would this work for gluing a puzzle together?? Would it have a white or clear finish?
Yes, the homemade version will work perfect
I've read that modge podge can work as a sealer as well though, like to coat paintings, or decals and stuff. I'm assuming this homemade recipe wouldn't work for that since it has the powder correct? Yes Mod Podge is just brandnamed watered down pva/white school glue so of course it works ;o) I just make it as I use it.
