MKBHD is probably spoiled with the amount of top S tier sound systems he listens to. The man is a multi millionaire. For crying out loud his daily driver headphone has been a Sennheiser HD 800. He is not your average consumer.
@@chillstep4life I think he just likes a lot of bass and not so precise features, he prefers the Burmester from Mercedes EQS than this... hmm, I don't know. But audio is something very personal
I just picked up an i7 with the B&W Diamond Surround System about week ago and still running it in. Coming from a 2016 750i with the Diamond system, I was initially quite disappointed with the i7 sound system, *especially* the bass, but also overall clarity of sound, separation of instruments, 3d/stereo placement and so on, for which the 750i was far superior. However, after blasting it for a week it's starting to open up and improve across the board. Still not as good as the 750i, especially with bass resolution and clarity, but getting there. There is a lot of bass (contrary to many comments here), just not the best quality yet - I played a track called "Sub Bass Excursion" which has a lot of 27Hz and 32Hz bass frequencies which it switches between quite quickly, and the i7 has no problem producing a very strong 32Hz output, but struggles with the 27Hz and it can't resolve the transition very well (not really surprising though!). Another thing I notice is that the bass does not have very strong "slam" or "kick", which I am hoping improves over time because that adds a lot to the 'experience' of the bass, even if the frequency extension is not the best. Off the bat though the Diamond system is still *massively* better than the 'normal' B&W system (non Diamond), I did a direct comparison between the i7 I bought and an i5 I was originally intending to buy, but the sound in the i5 was so mediocre (though to be fair it was also probably not run it yet either) it actually swayed my purchase decision. The subwoofer in the i7 is also in an unusual place - there is just one of them and its in the back left hand side wall near where the medkit is located, not even under the trunk - I think this may be why the bass has a different character and seems a bit disconnected. It also makes the car panel vibrate which is annoying, so I might need to check with BMW to see if there is something loose in there - I already had to take the door panel off the medkit area it was vibrating so much. All that being said I am enjoying the audio system and would definitely recommend the upgrade to the Diamond system if audio is important to you.
Yes, but in ICE 7 series there are 2 subwoofers and they are bigger (200mm in i7 and and 2x 217mm). New BMW 750e sound better in terms of bass and panels do not vibrate till higher volumes. New BMW 7 is a bit better than old one.
Awesome, stoked to get a sound system check so soon after the cars released! I think conceptually I still prefer more pure, less gimmicky sound systems like the bowers and Wilkins in the Volvos.
The i7 is a big money car here in Australia, (ticket is $320k aud / $211k usd .. we get reamed on car prices here fyi ..) and as such I couldnt forgive the lacking bass at this price.
From what I have seen Charlie likes Volvo systems alot, so its no surprise the i7 is a hit, being Bowers & Wilkins, the same folks that do the premium audio packs in Volvo. I have heard the Bowers & Wilkins audio in Volvo first hand and I can confirm they are absolutely sublime. Speaking of which, Volvo just dropped the EX90 with an updated audio package, so it will be interesting to see how that sounds when Charlie is able to test it.
@@-Derp- I agree! My mom has a Volvo XC90 and the Bowers & Wilkins in it is absolutely amazing, its her favorite thing about the car. I heard the new EX90 has the speakers in the headrests as well..I'm sure it'll be a stunning sound system.
@@denalisiomontpellier4064 he just evaluated an S8 with this B&O Advanced system and said that for what the car costs and represents and compared to this one, it is disappointing... listening to it it really seems to be true, it has great treble but midrange that despite having a good timbre, sounds strange and artificial 3D features… the tonal balance is clearly more natural overall on the i7 than on the S8. but... audio is something very personal, that's why it's so interesting. What are the main points that make you like the S8's B&O Advanced more?
how does it compare to the IX bowers wilkins? This is slightly more powerful but the suv interior got a better soundstage than the 7 series, since it's bigger and taller. That would be an interesting comparision
The way I understand is when you use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto wirelessly, it sets up an ad hoc Wi-Fi connection and transmits data at a similar bitrate to what you'd get via cable.
So they don't do EMF shielding so you can have AM radio... but there are other things that would benefit from the shielding besides AM radio... such as hacking the car with a frq processing program... LOL
@@DailyMotorSound I think it's worth making a video with lamborghini, because I have never seen a video with music tests in lamborghini anywhere on the Internet. and I think there the audio system is no worse than in kia rio and similar low-class cars
Not sure why MKBHD said this system was mediocre considering Bowers and Wilkins never disappoint in their Volvos and BMWs

That “Experience The Sound” feature reminds me of the THX Demo in Lincoln cars that have THX speakers.

Looking at previous videos, my guess would be the Bowers & Wilkins in the Volvo XC90.
@glorifiedbusdriver that's honestly what I assumed, but just wanted to hear it from him. Lol 😂
Went to bmw today to experience this i7 sound system with the drop down screen it’s hypelux
is the 2023 RX on your review schedule yet? Looking forward to that one
Hopefully before the end of the year
Miss the old tweeter locations, with ambient lighting they looked cool.
The new i7 still has the ambient lighting tweeters too, actually it has 2 in each doors 🤩
I was thinking about ordering the new 2023 BMW 760I. It is worth the 5k over the original bower & Wilkins that the car already comes with
I would think only if you're really into music, but then again I haven't yet tested the normal B&W.
Get an Audi S8 with the bang olufsen advanced. It's even better than the b&w! (We have an IX 50 with the same 4d b&w of the 7 series)

Is This great soundsystem with nearly 2000 Watt Not a disadvantage in an Electric car? Doesnt it drain too much battery?
You'd have to be blasting music for it to even make a dent

you should try out the 2017 7 series harman
If you could can you try out the BMW X1 2023 Harman Kardon? And maybe compare it to other bmw with HK speakers and the difference ?
Interestingly, I've tested it and shot a video on it, but the audio didn't record :((( it's decent. I think I remember saying B tier.

What happened to the rock and bass songs?
I'm not sure what happened, either I forgot to record them or the camera messed up. It was a whirlwind trip
You should test the iX M60 BW system. Its even better than i7.

Really excited to see how the all new genesis g90 with B&O 3d sound system is gonna perform.....plz do that review ASAP.
Would you review the new G90?

no bass at all. Bowers Wilkins 👎
It’s more neutral
