I would go 5 screens: Nav, radar, depth, camera, boat systems. Systems will be your slush screen, for when you want to run a near and far radar, two different charts, etc. I say this as a captain with 25 years of actual time at sea. That's commercial, but a boat is a boat. To put a perspective on it; among other active screens, I have 2 radars, 2 charts, 2 sounders, and 2 cameras, up at the master station, at all times. One each; depth, nav, and radar, at both port, and starboard, helm stations. That kind of redundancy is probably overkill for you, but you should always have depth, position, radar, and cameras (this is a part of watch standing) up, and fully in view during operation. You then need the fifth screen for doubling up in specific evolutions. Examples are when you want to have your current position up on one chart, and scout ahead on another chart. With radar, you often need a close view in tight traffic, say .5, but would still like to have a larger picture of what's coming next, say 6 miles, on another screen. You never want to give up your base screens, those are 100% uptime, the 5th screen gives you that. I'd also move the rudder indicator into your line of sight. An ideal location would be in between the window frames, right at eye level. Mounting it there would put it right where you want it.
I didn't see controls or a screen for a FLIR system. Love you guys. Just sold my 50 and looking at 64. Great build. Great chemistry. Nicely entertaininentertaining
I would also have a dedicated spot for a keyboard and mouse, maybe not out, but for sure, a lot of those systems are faster to use if you can type and/or mouse.
Feedback… I would make one or both counters…. Countersunk so that you could lay to rest a drone, microphones, things to charge, a dinner plate etc… that can quickly be set down to attend to things without worrying about sloshing and sliding onto the floor. Gorgeous and fun guys.
Since you will be in the sun/hot weather a lot, maybe extra cooling for the equipment. Keep in mind, it’s not the ambient temp, it’s the temp inside those consoles and the equipment rack(s). Make sure you are moving enough air to equalize with the room and its easy enough to size, just add up the average running watts and convert that to btu.
Thank you for the very descriptive explanations. Ricco knows the business it is easy to see. He definitely doesn't need anyone's help. Every time he explains something I keep learning. I am sure that Ricco is an excellent captain and that it is very reassuring to see him behind the console, especially when the weather is not good. His wife cuts him off so often to talk about such insignificant things like cupholders. Mr. Ricco has quite a good character. Keep up the great work.
You should have the two outter most screen on a hinge so it’s easier to see from center. If additional personnel are manning the helm then it can be pushed flush for their convenience. Just an idea.
You can add additional external speakers to one of the radios eg ch16 radio that way you know which one is which. And still mount at the top side by side. All alarms at the top so you can see from any angle/distance. Engine starts i think better at the top less chance for anyone to touch it by accident and they are used that often. Anything that used couple times a day only put at the top. Anything used frequently or during emergency at arms length.
I thought you might move the CCTV display to the starboard side (which you covered). Another thought was to move the Furuno controls to the captain's chair, but you've probably already considered and discarded that idea. A+ for overhead switches. Everything is better with overhead switches.

I’m so geeking out right now. I understand the black, but that white looks so good really. Kind of like you’re on the starship enterprise. That’s got to be one of the sweetest helms I’ve seen.
Of this whole video, the description of the two radio layout was the most heartwarming to me. Being surrounded most of the time by not very smart people, the thought process and logic of the VHF radio placements alone would make me feel honored to be on a boat piloted by him. I don’t need to know anything else about his experience or skills to know what I need to know about him as a capable leader. I could never afford it though, but details like that give me hope for humanity.
Where's the compass and the rudder indicator? Or are you going digital only? You should install a beer tap but for coffee... or maybe a dispenser for canned coffee...
...and here's another comment: Congratulations on getting 1 step closer to launch! Love your material, and the bouncy verbal witty banter between you is fun, as long as YOU are still having fun doing it. It seems that English is not the first language for either of you, so I appreciate you taking the effort to produce these videos with it.
It's hard to tell the angles from the simulation, but I would recommend having the side screens turned in at least 45 degrees, maybe 60. What looks good from 2 meters back is not what will be most clear when you are right up at the helm, and trying to read digital screens at an angle gets all warpy or can reflect side-glare. The centerpoint of each screen should point right at the pilot, like a semicircle.
If you integrate a 1/2 inch (2/3cm) groove at the same distance in on the console, you could build holders for cups, handheld radios, remotes, coffee or tea mugs that are all adjustable, movable and removable if you want a clean look.
I like that, I was thinking same, when someone said cup holder, yes, but sometimes you want to do something else in a given location. Modular arrangement where practical, makes sense to me.
If you hinge the whole monitor array so that it tilts forward and down, you will be increasing forward view size and have optimum view angle depending if you are standing or sitting. Thanks for the cool videos
4 monitors are great, but you need 6: one more for the lighting control software to control the lights at the party and one more for a DAW to mix the audio for the party 😊
I would put a lot more monitors, especially on the top it looks like you have some space to the left & right. Definitely need a big one for rear & side view mirrors, but I would also really want one for TV/Streaming in the background, stocks and just a spare one as well.
Very interesting layout. With the advancement of touch controls and the different control by wire can buss and Modbus systems that eliminates large back bone wiring looms and physical connection to the helm what is the training by Bearing if you lose power at the helm station.
Are there fire suppression systems inside the instrument(s) console and cooling fans for the equipment? Guys, we want to see the video of you at Amadas' virtual helm sailing into Vieux-Port. You know, a practice run for things to come... Oh, for an additional touch of class how about an antique compass, in working order, of course.😊 Lou (305)
Looks GREAT! However. Have you ever seen a Console with the Screens Tiltable? That way you can angle the Screens up or down as you prefer. Also, I see there are storage/ Breakers under the Starboard side. What about the Port side? If there was the possibility of Storage there too, then it would balance the look of the Helm better IMHO.
I would put in a middle bigger monitor right in the middle and move the left and right side both outwards. This screen would be to have a larger view of things for the current mode you want to see. Or 3 bigger screens, with 2 outboard on each side that has the smaller screens stacked up; for a total of 4 small screens and 3 larger bigger screens.
Love the set up. Out of curiosity, are you going to have a designated place on the bridge for all your flags, instruction manuals, hand held radios, torches, binos, etc? I’ve seen a lot of new boat designs that don’t seem to incorporate this into the build, and I always wonder, why they don’t. Really looking forward to seeing the final end result, of all your hard work.
As I’ve said before, I am so excited to see your ship completely built! It’s going to be just an amazing boat and experience for you both as well as for us who have been following along! Now, to the layout…love it (not that it matters what I think)!
You may not have the problem but a freshwater wash on the outside of the windows to wash dried on salt off the windows when steaming on sunny windy days.
Rico, what about the PA system? Where is that going to be and where is all the internal boat hardwire communication going to be? Or will you only rely on wireless radio? Usecase for a PA system is pretty clear, the intercom is for the guests mostly, but you would need to speak with the engine room once in a while too.
Nice layout! You might want your alarm panel above near your bilge panel. Most alarms are ref; water anyway. But it’s much easier to see flashing lights above your eye line.
Writing board, for helm and kitchen. Cup holders, also on food table in helm. Besides, by the front controls. - Mike And seat to take nap in helm. Intercom, to living room, kitchen, and back deck.
Great video! Love the layout. I think radios should be together and if you want to split speakers, go that way. This configuration is going to make it goofy to monitor multiple channels at the same time. Obviously your mic should easily reach the radios.
It would be good if there could be a quick toggle docking button where when pressed the three systems and navigation screens are replaced with the port, the starboard and the rear view cameras - enlarged full screen like car mirrors to have the clearest views for docking.
Will you have wing stations? If yes, then I would lay out the steering joystick, throttle and gear, and both thruster the same/similar way between the helm and the wing stations. You want to use that muscle memory to your advantage.
Cool! Just hope 4 x 24 inch screens turn out to be too big if you spend many hours there. Just from a normal office workplace, at some point monitors just become too many/too big for relaxed working with their constant radiation. Yeah, I was wonderimg about the cupholders, too :)
It has to be exciting but I'm guessing there's some headache too lol. What percentage is exciting and what percentage is headache? BTW it's just excitement from this side of the screen!
some times we thing excitement and headache have an even score lol but are happy to hear that on your side of the screen we have nothing to worry about lol
I would take a real close look at the ergonomic layout of control during critical manoeuvres. The last thing you want is to run from port to starboard (or vice versa) to operate multiple controls.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that thinks multiple radios in one place is crazy. I don't like the mic locations though. As pictured those will be crazy hard to get a hand on fast because of the angle IMO.
I think you should consider Cup holders Stereo system with 6stack Cd, cassette and AUx and Bluetooth. Network point for laptop Wireless charge point and UsB for you phone and charge devices. Manual old school compass Old school barometer Two clocks. One for destination, and one for originating point. Are there intercoms on board to address passengers or say to crew oh come to the pilot house please? Thanks for the video. Really love to see how all this is planned out.
I would add cup holders opposite of the helm, in the area where you will have the table and seating. Liquids and electronics do not mix very well especially in rough seas
@Navy1977 My point had nothing to do with what types of ads, AI Etc, I was just replying to your statement that they have 'no' control, which is what a lot of people think, and it is just not the case, at all. No one that I know ever lets midrolls run, not if they can catch them , they are so disruptive on so many levels, and not where the real revenue is generated. As I mention routinely, I always let opening and closing ads run in support of content providers. Not many people can say that, they just bristle at anyone that thinks things through, not directed at you.
I still think you should put a compass dead center on top of your room, monitor screens, and all the old cleaning that has the liquid in it. And I think you should put some lights underneath your counter with the lip of your counter that can light up the floor area for when you drop some thing in the middle of night etc.. I think your little side reading lamps are a good idea. I just like you to be able to switch them from red to like regular reading light back-and-forth meaning is a switch on them and I’d also like to see a couple on the opposite ends of the couch that’s behind you for the person sitting there maybe the reading When you’re tied up in porch, or in a beautiful little cove, and I want to read a book where they want to war do their emails and so on and they can do it by red light. At one point you talked about wanting some kind of mapping system throughout, the boat where people could look and see where they are versus where you’re going to I like that idea and I hope you have that in various places throughout the boat like in the kitchen area maybe even in your private bathroom for when you step away from the wheel for a minute And a few other places throughout the boat. I’m surprised he didn’t put some kind of music control station above. The helm is your calling if there or the consult or whatever you’re calling them and will you be having loud speakers that you can speak to other boats as you’re pulling up beside them or shouting at somebody on the dock? Have you thought about maybe an easier color on your eyes like maybe brown leathers instead of the real stark black that holds all the heat? And what about your hand controls that you could take from the helm, and go out on the side or out to the Bauer Someone to move the boat around where are those going to be incorporated into the home so that you can maintain them at all times make sure that they’re charged and ready? And I think you really need to think about your storage in there I think you’re gonna want, maybe some overhead club compartments and some of that leftover space for various things I do know you’re gonna want some drawer space to have those random things that you need at all times where are you going to put your binoculars without making that you’re your counters in so long will cluttered. She’s gonna want some drawers. Where are you gonna keep all those logs you know when you did your oil the history of what you’ve done to the motors, and all the other various charts that you must maintain are you gonna have some files like drawers underneath the bench or you gonna have places for Maps ? I think you need to design a spot where you keep your daily notes I’m your forever gonna be thinking of something that you want to check on or fix. And like any other couple I find it when I’m comfortable there either too cold or when I’m hot they’re comfortable so I would look into heating both your captain seats and the bench, but with individual controls so that you can both be very very comfortable. And I would probably plan also with additional drink holder or drink holders on your captains chair because I don’t think you’re gonna want to get up every time and lean that far over to get a cup when you’re sitting down and there will be times you’ll be there for many hours,2,4,6,8 and a time in that chair be nice if it almost folded up to a little counter next year she could can bring your grilled cheese and ham and a little mescaline salad and roasted tomato soup. But it’s not. They’re constantly in your way, but falls down when not needed. Are you gonna put in one of those alarms to make sure that the person staying awake when they’re on night watch? Because this boat will probably be traveling a lot around the world slowly over time I think that you should also put in some clocks to show the different time zones so that you’re always correct when trying to reach out to somebody because you will need to reach out from time to time. So you know that in Seattle, you could reach some supplier at this hour and your time zone is six hours or eight hours difference and someone be nice to see that Inc. somewhere end of the helm. I also like to see a charging place for your laptops and your iPads because when you’re not on watch but you’re still hanging out with the captain and you could be doing things checking emails writing emails and someone plus your phones etc. a place to store all that bus. Keep it charged.. design a place to store the cleaning supplies for them for wiping down your screens and etc. wiping off the shifters and so I’m just it from time to time. I’d have flashlights up there for a number of people already in it inside a cabinet where they can always be charged at all times but when you put it back it charges up. Just like your your radios with a headset so you can talk to one another without having to yell. With backup charging points like in the cruise quarters maybe next to your bed. You didn’t talk about where your horns buttons are going to be and I think you’re gonna want a number of very big horns so I thought maybe you’d want to have a very prominent position to be able to go over play the various mariachi songs and things through your horn system. Are you going to have a place to put out a map that is under glass that you can use a wax pen to write on and possibly even flip a switch and it can be under lit? For the person that’s on the bench behind a little table, I hope you’ve made storage for a comfy blankets and possibly even a real pillow. Maybe the backside of that table on the underside has a couple of drawers old is pens and various things maybe even just a straight up junk drawer, where you find some multi tools and glass repair kitchen, etc. place to put people in emergency pair of sunglasses for when it’s too bright.
Also like to second the FLiR suggestions, and if nobody mentioned yet, forward looking sonar. I know it’s a tough boat but it’s always better to avoid hitting stuff.
Yes, I was wondering about the cup holders lol; I just wanna to get onboard and play with that helm, but I am sure Ricco will controls who can drive his boat lol
Omg...when i first saw the pic of the helm i thought...theres NO WAY he forgot cup holders! Think about a small area that is recessed about 1/4 inch where you can put your phone, drop your wallet (if u forget to take it out of your pocket and dont want to sit on it) or maybe put a pen or pencil without it rolling around. Just a little catch all spot where u can put stuff with it rolling around. If you dont have a spot like that then all those thing usually end up stuffed in a cup holder. Also..think of a spot where you can store keys. I feel like you inevitably end up with more keys then u ever expect. Also...keep the plugs. You will need more plugs than you think. I might even add more plugs to the other side. Keep in mind to leave enuff space for the stands that walkie-talkie radios always sit in..or designate a spot for those. Last thought...what about slats or holes or something in the doors that access the underside of the helm. All those electronics can get warm. Sorey...just had a few quick ideas. You guys are awesome!
Awesome !! Looks like the Starship Enterprise !! 👍 Scotty I need more power !! I'm gving you all she's got captain !! lol Cant wait to see it finished !!
you have INFINITELY more experience that I do but, I would consider putting LIKE ITEMS together thinking about getting assistance on your bridge. For example, if you bring in someone to handle all communications for you, the radio heads should be next to each other so they aren't walking back and forth behind you to adjust the radios? you did mention that the CCTV controller should and will be closer to the CCTV screen, of course that makes sense. but any task you may want to delegate to an assistant during a time of need, ALL of those controls should be gathered together. just a thought, I've enjoyed filling along with your build.
Very impressive overall. I know you said it’s not finalized, but why would the camera controls be on the opposite side of the helm from the camera monitor?

Overhead hand rails? Spot for laptop and/or tablet for logs, weather forecasting, internet communications, etc.
🙏👍🏼💙
Looks GREAT! However. Have you ever seen a Console with the Screens Tiltable? That way you can angle the Screens up or down as you prefer. Also, I see there are storage/ Breakers under the Starboard side. What about the Port side? If there was the possibility of Storage there too, then it would balance the look of the Helm better IMHO.
Thanks for the suggestion!! 🙏🏻💙⚓️
So exciting! Happy for you both! So glad you are able to reep rewards of your hard work! Well done you 2!
Awwwww - Thank you so much!!
We will have PLENTY of storage on board 🤣🤪 Not to worry about that!! Hahaha Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for the Helm Tour.
You're steering us all in the right direction - for sure
Later Gators
Thanks for hanging with us! Happy Sunday!! 🙏🏻💙⚓️
Will have one. Also what about stabilizer controls. Will you have an internist intercom or just use handhelds?
It is getting down to the final details now.... Nice. Charging pads on the helm?
👌🏼
Like the washing machine in the centre 😂😂😂😂😂
😁
lol my first thought 🙂
I was going to say the same thing ;-)
As I’ve said before, I am so excited to see your ship completely built! It’s going to be just an amazing boat and experience for you both as well as for us who have been following along! Now, to the layout…love it (not that it matters what I think)!
Of course it matters - we appreciate you 💙🙏
@@NautiGuys One screen I didn’t see and it may be a part of what’s not been added, the Sea Keeper module?
You may not have the problem but a freshwater wash on the outside of the windows to wash dried on salt off the windows when steaming on sunny windy days.
Rico, what about the PA system? Where is that going to be and where is all the internal boat hardwire communication going to be? Or will you only rely on wireless radio? Usecase for a PA system is pretty clear, the intercom is for the guests mostly, but you would need to speak with the engine room once in a while too.
I had a similar question. Will the helm be about to communicate with audio or intercom to the sections of the boat that have the cameras?
Great tour! Was wondering about the white color glad it is black actually! Looks amazing without compromising the visibility! 👍👍
Welcome back!! Happy Sunday!!
@@NautiGuys 👍👍
I like the idea of the washing machine in the middle. While on autopilot, you can catch up on the washing and ironing.
Nice layout! You might want your alarm panel above near your bilge panel. Most alarms are ref; water anyway. But it’s much easier to see flashing lights above your eye line.
Victoria, your hair is fantastic
Thank youuu
Writing board, for helm and kitchen.
Cup holders, also on food table in helm. Besides, by the front controls.
- Mike
And seat to take nap in helm.
Intercom, to living room, kitchen, and back deck.
Great ideas Mike 💙🙏
Alright ! More to brighten my Sunday.
Happy Sunday Alan! We knew you'd love this one!! 🤪🤣🙌
When done, will you have Captain Paul and the Loon crew over for supper and Tour?
We might 😁😉
Great video!
Also so you don't have to worry about the timing of blowing the horn every 30 seconds in the fog you have a machine that does your various signals
Gorgeous!!! 🌊⚓️⛵️🛳️
its a great layout i think and im really exited to see the built ship on your first cruise.
🙏💙
lol Cup holders! A MUST have! Great layout. Thanks for the tour. Great to see your smiling faces! 🤩😍😘
Yesss 👌🏼🙏😉💙
Cool! Just hope 4 x 24 inch screens turn out to be too big if you spend many hours there. Just from a normal office workplace, at some point monitors just become too many/too big for relaxed working with their constant radiation. Yeah, I was wonderimg about the cupholders, too :)
Thanks for sharing - upholders are in the works 😉
Interesting , Thank you .I am sure that you and the team will design the Best system possible
Most definitely! 💯
With the number of interruptions from the gorgeous Victoria, I understand why Rico has just one helm seat 😜
Looking good guys
Good morning 🌞
I think it’s a beautiful layout. I’m really impressed. You guys are wonderful. I enjoy your video. Hurry up. Let’s go cruising soon.🇺🇸✨
CCTV control should be under the CCTV monitor. Also all light control may make sense being all overhead. Looks awesome!!
Also some sort of holster or secure housing for binoculars?
That’s a great idea
Have a map/chart draw for in case you to need to navicate by hand, (in case you have a major power lost).
Very very cool 😎 Rico you need one more monitor
You should consider four cup holders two on port and two starboard
NICE DISHWASHER IN THE MIDDLE... VERY PRACTICAL
🤣🤣🤪
Nice looking layout. Thanks for sharing. Very cool 😎
💙🙏
I would take a real close look at the ergonomic layout of control during critical manoeuvres. The last thing you want is to run from port to starboard (or vice versa) to operate multiple controls.
The “Oh shit rail”. You guys are the best.
Love it! Without glasses on, it looked like a washer/dryer in the center. Note to self-wear your glasses! lol
Lol
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that thinks multiple radios in one place is crazy. I don't like the mic locations though. As pictured those will be crazy hard to get a hand on fast because of the angle IMO.
Thanks for sharing 💙🙏
Great helm layout
Thanks for hanging with us!! Happy Sunday!
Thank you
I think you should consider
Cup holders
Stereo system with 6stack Cd, cassette and AUx and Bluetooth.
Network point for laptop
Wireless charge point and UsB for you phone and charge devices.
Manual old school compass
Old school barometer
Two clocks. One for destination, and one for originating point.
Are there intercoms on board to address passengers or say to crew oh come to the pilot house please?
Thanks for the video. Really love to see how all this is planned out.
Noted!! Thanks for sharing! More on these topics coming soon!
Nice! Cant waot to get pn our boat!! Is our boat gina have night vision?
I would add cup holders opposite of the helm, in the area where you will have the table and seating. Liquids and electronics do not mix very well especially in rough seas
Definitely! Thanks for the insight!
No midroll ads, thanks.
I always let opening and
closing ads run.
@Navy1977
Sorry boss, you are totally clueless,
they, like all monetized channels
have 100% control.
@Navy1977 My point had nothing
to do with what types of ads, AI
Etc, I was just replying to your
statement that they have 'no'
control, which is what a lot
of people think, and it is just
not the case, at all. No one that
I know ever lets midrolls run,
not if they can catch them ,
they are so disruptive on so
many levels, and not where the
real revenue is generated.
As I mention routinely, I always
let opening and closing ads run
in support of content providers.
Not many people can say that,
they just bristle at anyone that
thinks things through, not directed
at you.
Wow, hats off to any one that was
able to wade through 7 pages with no
paragraphing. I read the first two lines,
good ideas imv.
😄
@Navy1977 I can only rely
my imagination to guess what
the 'gems' might have been
in that heap. 😄
@Navy1977
haha, true, reminds me
of the old KId/Pony story. 😄
@Navy1977 👍
Also like to second the FLiR suggestions, and if nobody mentioned yet, forward looking sonar. I know it’s a tough boat but it’s always better to avoid hitting stuff.
I love the recessed grab bars, can you do that in the ceiling? Especially near the door
It needs tunes and some wireless phone chargers too 😊
Most definitely!!!
I think the clothes washer in the middle was a good idea.
Good job Rico⚓️❤️⚓️
Very nice. Hope to see it soon.
Thanks for watching! More & more updates coming soon!! 🙏🏻⚓️
Are your backup lights red your emergency lights and from the helm can you signal all hands to stations
Love you guys
We 💙 you Nauti People!! 🙏🏻⚓️
Yes, I was wondering about the cup holders lol; I just wanna to get onboard and play with that helm, but I am sure Ricco will controls who can drive his boat lol
You might be absolutely correct 🤪
Scotty I need more power !! I'm gving you all she's got captain !! lol
Cant wait to see it finished !!
lol 😂
@@NautiGuys You guys are so Cool !!👍
Thanks for hanging with us Doug! We appreciate you!! 🙏🏻💙⚓️
@@NautiGuys My pleasure !! It's been a great journey.
Beam me up Scotty. I can't make head nor tail of all Rico's systems.
Lifestyles of the rich. Best wishes.
you have INFINITELY more experience that I do but, I would consider putting LIKE ITEMS together thinking about getting assistance on your bridge.
