From the gatherer for Inniaz: "Inniaz’s ability resolves even if some or all of the attacking creatures lose flying or leave combat before it resolves." "If you give away a creature you control with flying that attacked, it’s removed from combat. It will still be tapped if it was tapped, so it won’t be able to block." So you're safe to donate a flyer, you'll still get the trigger and the donated flyer will just be removed from combat and remain tapped (thus cannot suddenly be chosen as a blocker against you).
A friend of ours built a deck like this to play at our table, we kinda knew what we were going but didnt think it was going to be that bad. Now whenever he plays that deck he gets hated out every single time. One of the games is where he was attacked by an Omnath, someone then used Tainted Strike on the Omnath and I followed up with an Invigorate to guarantee the infect kill. If you plan on playing this just know people arent going to like you moving their permanents around the table.

You attack with identity thief exiling medomai the ageless. It becomes a copy of medomai the ageless and deals combat damage so you get an extra turn. Rinse and repeat for infinite turns. Identity thief can attack on extra turns because when it is declared an attacker it is not a copy of medomai the ageless but when it deals combat damage it is.
I'm pretty sure you can attack with a couple of random flyers, give your coveted jewel to the player you're attacking and then steal it back right away because they're not blocking you
I was pretty sure you were correct. I looked at the rulings for Jewel. You are correct. Iniaz triggers at the end of the Declare Attackers step, and Jewel triggers at the end of Declare Blockers.
I'd recommend looking at wispmare, angel of finality, archon of redemption and soulherder for more budget ETB effects! magus of the moat, spirit bonds and favorable winds as well probably.

On a related note I'm looking to build a budget (about $100) Neyith of the Dire Hunt deck as a gift for my brother. I don't want to necessarily build the deck myself, so I was wondering if you two would be interested in taking a crack at it

Play it, draw three cards, tap it for mana and use it. Attack with 3 flyers, if the player to your left has no defense, send the Coveted jewel to him, it will not trigger, only on damage. your flyer will connect and trigger it, it will go back to you drawing you 3 cards and giving you 3 more mana for main phase 2 absolute fiiiiilth. Do it again on the next turn.
We didn't because of how tcgplayer presents lands, theyre like a dollar a piece from jumpstart and we cant change that, so didnt want to confuse people looking at the list

If you’ve never hit a Nykthos off of it, you haven’t lived. Speaking of Nykthos, it adds three Devotion. Lastly, you get to choose what card you get back. The downsides are that Cavalier can brick in the top five cards and you may not have anything relevant in your graveyard when it dies. Plus, the Cavalier exiles itself when it dies.
Michael Crawford yeah there’s some minor upside but it also (as you pointed out) has a much lower floor. Adds 3 devotion is going to be a downside more often than an upside, making it more difficult to cast. The difference between 4 mana and 5 is huge although you could argue that the land coming in untapped helps even it out I don’t see it as a strictly better card because of that.

Just built a flier deck with Linvala, shield of sea gate as the commander and it's very fun to take to the skies.
I'm so stoked for this deck! Super budget is defs the way to go! I didnt open an Inniaz in 28 jumpstart packs tho so that kinda sucks.
We really loved doing this for a change, it's been a while since we've done an honest-to-goodness deck tech
