I think its kind of dishonest to equate peoples deconstruction with only pain and trauma. Lots of deconstruction is information based. The info is out here at our finger tips now. Exodus 13:1-2 and Exodus 22:28-29 have been pointed out to people. We have the scholarship. The lack of evidence and some outright historical falsehoods are becoming common knowledge. Scandal and church hurt are part of it for sure but those seem to always be presented as the only reasons for people leaving so as to avoid the actual data and scholarship that invalidate Christianity and religion as a whole. The fact that GEN 1&2 cant work together and are actually two diff creation stories is out here now. We know the geneologies in Matt and Luke dont match. We know that Judas dies in two diff ways in MATT and ACTS. We know the flood story in Gilgamesh that was written about 1k years earlier. Maybe people are realizing that the church never actually had the power to transform in the first place. Ur faith is ur faith, but if ur gunna discuss the issues honestly, we gotta put the FACTS on the table.
