From Veggie Tales to TikTok: The Evolution of Christian Media
In this episode of Pass The Mic, Executive Producer Beau York and Video Producer Ryan Gentry take a deep dive into the transformation of Christian media over the past three decades. From the 90s age of Veggie Tales to today’s world of Christian Influencers dominating social media, we explore the cultural shifts, technological advancements, and creative approaches that have shaped Christian storytelling.
What lessons can be learned from the successes and failures of each era? Are Christian Influencers meeting the moment, or is something missing from the digital-first landscape? Beau and Ryan discuss the pros and cons of both eras and how the past informs the future of faith-based media.

Men are able to rationalize, predict outcomes, and self reflect much better than women. We are seeing past the glitz and glamor and it's all demonic. Not very much women are wife material these days

There is no such thing as "Toxic Masculinity". There is only Masculinity. Just like there is no such thing as "Toxic Femininity". There are "Toxic People", which have nothing to do with Masculinity or Femininity. Making men embrace Femininity and reject their Masculinity is wrong and toxic. The way to save society is to raise boys to become masculine men with honor and integrity.

The church shouldnt limit people based upon an education, god bestows his spirit on whom he wills not whom gets a degree. In fact I would argue that using a degree to separate is opposed to his way. In exodus when crafting the altar "And you shall not go up by steps to my altar, that your nakedness be not exposed on it." Do you know what the term degree comes from? It means step, that you are a step above others. For me perosnally I view this command as a statment that anyone approching God is on the same step as anyone else approaching god. You may be higher than the other but youre on the same step until you actually step on to the alter.

Yeah normal response is indifference b3cause the bear argument is so dumb. People talking about something they will never have to really choose from. Fact is any woman who is in the woods and sees a bear coming from one way and a stranger man from another. She is not walking toward the bear. Such dumb hypothetical bs.

Do not listen to people like Carlton! My brothers and sisters, please be aware that our God is not only love, but our God is also a consuming fire, God has warned us about that. The finish work on the cross by opening salvation gates, Jesus rose from the dead, and he appeared to Paul. Act 26:15 And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. Act 26:16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; Act 26:17 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, Act 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Phl 3:18 For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as ENEMIES of the cross of Christ. Phl 3:19Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. 1Co 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:2Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. Jhn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.Jhn 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.Jhn 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.Jhn 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.Jhn 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.Jhn 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. 1Th 5:1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.1Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.1Th 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.1Th 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.1Th 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.1Th 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.1Th 5:7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.1Th 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 1Pe 4:15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. 1Pe 4:16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. 1Pe 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 1Pe 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 1Pe 4:19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

I think its kind of dishonest to equate peoples deconstruction with only pain and trauma. Lots of deconstruction is information based. The info is out here at our finger tips now. Exodus 13:1-2 and Exodus 22:28-29 have been pointed out to people. We have the scholarship. The lack of evidence and some outright historical falsehoods are becoming common knowledge. Scandal and church hurt are part of it for sure but those seem to always be presented as the only reasons for people leaving so as to avoid the actual data and scholarship that invalidate Christianity and religion as a whole. The fact that GEN 1&2 cant work together and are actually two diff creation stories is out here now. We know the geneologies in Matt and Luke dont match. We know that Judas dies in two diff ways in MATT and ACTS. We know the flood story in Gilgamesh that was written about 1k years earlier. Maybe people are realizing that the church never actually had the power to transform in the first place. Ur faith is ur faith, but if ur gunna discuss the issues honestly, we gotta put the FACTS on the table.

It's not some esoteric knowledge. It's the blinders falling off...the symbolism, the occult practices are in your face and front and center. Once the peer pressure falls away, and people actually comprehend what they've been reciting and practicing, they wake up. They don't necessarily come into a deeper knowledge. The lies fall away.

I can only speak for myself. I'm a 69 year old white guy from the suburbs. I came to faith in college. I've been around people from all backgrounds in work, church, and other activities and got along fine. I've been listening to this podcast for several years, and read your books (I'm starting on the new one and enjoyed the call on Saturday). What I'm looking for isn't absolution, virtue signaling, or any of that. I'm looking for education and instruction. I knew some of the history and am learning more now. There are many things that need to be tweaked to level the playing field. I want to be a better 'citizen of the Kingdom' and do what I can to help. I don't want to inadvertently say or do anything harmful or offensive. I've learned a lot from you both. Keep it up

I am a member of a Black fraternity. As such, I respect when a person decides to no longer be affiliated. However, it disturbs me when they accuse the organization of being a cult and doing cult-like things. For instance, our main hymn clearly states that we will be true to the brotherhood. That statement in no way states or implies that the brotherhood is a substitute for anyone's allegiance to God or a creator. Yet, one of the main arguments for denouncing the organization is that they "put the organization before God." It appears that a lot of people who denounce have been hurt by someone(s) in the organization and want the entire organization to take the blame. Also, it is not uncommon for a newly-saved Christian to think that everyone is his/her enemy and, thus labels others as such. It is really sad. Many people can provide positive comments about their experiences in these organizations. I am one of them. I simply wish that those who leave would do so without accusing those who stay of wrong-doing. It is as if they want those who remain affiliated to feel guilty. And, are there some bad apples in the bunch? Yes, of course. But that is in any organization, including church bodies. Typically, however, the good overpowers the not-so-good.
