  • In Today's Vietnam travel vlog, we travel to one of the most recommended destinations in Vietnam, located in the northern Lao Cai province in the beautiful town of Sapa. We had the opportunity to stay at an amazing hotel while we explored the Cáp treo Fansipan cable car as well as Cat Cat Village and even tried our first hotpot at one of the local restaurants.

      Hey, just want to share something. The town was not found by Mongolian. The french built this town as a vacation town to get away from the heat in Ha Noi back when vietnam was colonized by France. That’s why there is a church at the center of town. You can see the european architecture influences throughout the town

    FYI , the local people living in Cat Cat village are not Mongolians . They are Hmong , one of the ethnic minorities of Vietnam . They are sharing the Lao Cai province with the Red Dao , the Day and the Kinh people . There are currently 54 ethnics living in VN . The Kinh are the most important one . If you are interested in Vietnamese culture , I recommend you to visit the Vietnam Museum of Ethnography in Hanoi . BTW the name Cat Cat is from the French word ` Cascade ` ( with the French pronunciation ) , because of the waterfall there . it `s not related at all to the feline animal .

    You're not kidding when it comes to Vietnam's diverse topography and scenery. Can you imagine, marshland of the Mekong Delta, hot sunny beaches, large touristy beach cities to small coastal villages, pine filled hills of Central Highland like Dalat, Buon Me Thuot, gigantic caves with rivers running through them, Ha Long Bay and Ninh Binh, spectacular mountains of Sapa and Ha Giang. I haven't even touched on the nice/friendly Vietnamese people and the cost yet. Thank you for taking the time to video and post these to youtube for us to enjoy. I hope you guys will find the time to come back to Vietnam as I personally enjoyed your VN series.

    Hi Lloyd & Mandy..
    Some years ago, before the cable car was built, an English tour group attempted to reach the summit of Mt Fansipan on foot but unfortunately one girl lost her footing and fell to her death. Nowsaday Fansipan can be reached easily via cable car. Once at the top, the peak soars over the swirling cloud below giving a surreal experience. One greatly impressed vlogger had to exclaim: "If there was a heaven on earth, this is it!" It's a pity you're going to miss an experience of a lifetime.

    • @hungcuongnguyen293
      @hungcuongnguyen293 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It was not an English tour group , but only one reckless Brit guy who tried to climb up the Fansipan solo without a local tour guide . The gondola was already there , but he didn`t want to take it and tried to test his physical capacity and endurance . He was not lucky that day and got lost in the cold jungle and fell down in a waterfall there . After 3 days of silence , his girlfriend who didn`t follow him in this adventure , finally called the police for help from her hotel in Sapa . Unfortunately after 6 days of intensive research , they found his corpse with one broken leg , next to a cascade . The Sapa authorities had mobilized over 200 volunteers and sniffer dogs for that rescue operation .

      @@hungcuongnguyen293 That could be recent because the cable car was already built. Another fatality, this shows how dangerous it is to climb Mt Fansipan. There are tours organised lasting many days for adventurous tourists who prefer trekking up to Fansipan.

I’m glad that I got to see these God’s countries before the concrete jungles built. Well, the Vietnamese people need to keep it nice and clean. Also, the food vendors must practice food safety and sanitation. Not asking them to learn math or science or anything, they just need to do those things, then the volume of tourists will double, if not quadruple.
      Now, that is going to be good for your people and your country.

    The money you have paid for cat cat was to to help that infrastructure, when I went there in 2010 it was a bridge and a few little huts and the waterfall It was awesome to see how much they have been able to develop the village. We found the food in cafes and restaurants to be really fresh and locally grown it seems like as it has changed a lot and it is so built up, there was no cable car or train etc then and the town was kind of sleepy, there was a lot people selling you anything and everything all in traditional outfits and hiking to local villages with the ladies from that village was the thing you did and the main way they made money it’s kinda of sad to see it’s not like that anymore but also good for the town they are making more money.

    The waiter meant to say let the pot slowly boil up. Once the hot pot is boil up, you dip things in. Boil broth makes cooking faster for anything you put in. And if you feel like its too hot for your taste bud, dim the fire down. Thats some quick tip for yall.
    Also make some dipping sauces on the side while youre waiting! ❤💥

      @@Hoangsa74 Bro who cares! its a cheap village restaurant that serves anyone. And ppl are more open over there. Just because you are a foreigner, doesnt mean you should be entitled and treated like the president wtf.

    OMG-I loved Sapa!! You need to go on one of the toured hikes through the bamboo forest, and along the terrace fields. that was such a cool hike and experience. The hiking area had received rain the day before and the trail was slippery but it was so fun. We were picked up at our hotel and then dropped off at end of the day. There were a couple of different options for toured hikes. I'm sure you enjoyed your time there, I loved it there.

    That hotel is amazing! I love how cool it is and the way it's decorated. The fact that you guys are surrounded by all that natural beauty just makes it even better. LOVED Cat Cat Village, but cannot believe you missed going to the top of Fansipan. If you still have a few days left, please visit Ninh Binh as it's beautiful there as well. Next time you come back, hit up Da Lat and Phu Quoc. Also do the Ha Giang Loop on motorbike and do the caving (One Pack Wanderers and Tim and Fin did amazing caving videos).

    Probably your last destination in Vietnam so a big thank you for all the vlogs of the Vietnam leg of your trip. These have bought back a lot of good memories for me personal. Loved the soundtracks on your Vlogs, your genuine excitement and the delights from you both on finding something new (white chocolate popcorn espresso martini). But the most memorably for me is Mandy saying thank you in Vietnamese. Nice one! Cảm ơn.
