Yes, people make full time livings making videos here in TH-cam!
I know people who make well into six figures / year making videos.
It is quite a lucrative living, but, also endlessly exhausting!
People start out wanting to have fun, and end up feeling bound by constant filming obligations and deadlines.
I do not see ads playing in any video I view, because I am a Premium Member of YT -- yay, no ads! 😂
So Lloyd, correction: you can eradicate adverts from vids. Seeing adverts in videos is not mandatory / par for the course.
Suggestion: Lloyd, you seem to love to dance around the titles of videos, with looooooooooooong intros.
It takes you a bit of time to get the point, i.e., the subject matter in the title of this video, for example.
I expected to hear numerics specifics straightaway, right off the bat.

What makes me keep watching your content, I think you forgot to mention: Genuinity. You're good people, not trying to be something you're not. That's why I'm watching, wherever you go on your travels. :-)

I like watching you guys as your just normal people and dont try to be fake and attention seeking so thats really refreshing. You mention towards the end your going to keep doing this for as long as possible but I always wonder what you tubers do when it all ends and if you have a plan for the next stage of your life. I do notice a few older aussie couples doing almost daily videos from Bali on their day to day living so i guess there will always be a way to keep going. What about things your missing out on now like superannuation and buying property etc? I know you dont have to tell us your personal situation but that would be my biggest worry to leave it all behind and start making travel content.
I guess you just have to have faith that it will all work out, relying on superannuation just doesn't seem like a fulfilling life to us. And of course we can still buy property if we want at some stage, but that shouldn't define someones life in our opinion.

Thanks for this video. I like the laid back style of your videos and the transparency you show is inspiring. It is probably fair to say that if you travel a country like India, this will be good for your number of views since people generally are interested in their own country. In my case (and probably some other people as well) it is interesting to see your experience of traveling a place since I believe you give a fair assessment of your travel. Another reason to watch TH-cam clips is that I am interested in many places, but given the fact that I am 75+ years old, travel is more problematic. Finally, I need to like the main presenters in the clips and in your case this is very positive. Thanks for posting, greetings from Malta, and good luck with future projects.

I started watching you guys when you first launched. I had been in Bali for 4-6 months from 2012-2020 and just left Bali Before they discontinued flights in/out of there. I got one of the final flights out and was in Alaska really missing Bali a lot. I found your TH-cam channel and started watching and have enjoyed it ever since. I really enjoy your vlogs because you don’t try yourselves to be more than you are, if that makes any sense! You guys are authentic, natural and you are not faking it. That’s what I like. I’ve seen where content creators are constantly making the duck lips for the shot or posing and acting childish to get that content. I don’t really care for that. I like ppl who act natural because that’s who they are. You guys are very natural and tell it like it is!
Time had gone by but I think I started watching you guys during my first winter staying home in 2021.

I loved this video, and yet I'm retired with no intention of ever doing TH-cam. I thought the information was very interesting. I will say, what draws me to your channel are the Asian locations, I live in the US, and I don't think I'll ever travel to those places, but that being said, when your content changes to other subjects, I'll still be here, because mostly, I like your vibe. And how you look at things and view the world. ❤❤❤

I applaud you both for being transparent about being a TH-camr and not sugar coating it. Most TH-camrs appear guarded when it comes to revealing analytics, etc. Perhaps it is the insecurity aspect that if they reveal intimate details, then more could jeopardise their content exposure and conceivably may diminish their viewer percentage. Just my opinion, guys. Great Vlog, and keep up the great content.

The wife and I are planning on moving to Thailand from the US at the end of the year and we are also planning on bringing our dog with us. Very helpful video. I am retiring next Friday. (USA) March 21st I am moving to the Philippines. (been there over 25 times). I lived in Korea for 6 years which allowed me to travel to some of the SE Asian countries. After i get settled, I plan to travel the islands to find Sport Fishing locations. I do plan to film each fishing trip, but I want to get about 20 to 30 videos before i start launching them. That will give me some time to edit, and also find some good fishing locations. I honestly don't need the money, but I just have fun with it. With that being said, i will need a website built, because if the channel grows, the fishing gear manufactures should start contacting me for advertisement during my videos (I Hope). Although i have a funny name of "There ya go, have a nice day" I am not sure if i will keep that or figure out another Channel name geared more toward the fishing community. Your thoughts? I have watched all your videos for the past year (love the videos). I have had 3 Chocolate Labs, 1 Black Lab, 1 Golden Retriever in my life. Great dogs!

Great question, we are actually planning a full video on TH-cam business structure, teaming up with a company that has helped us setup our business, stay tuned.
For those who don't understand how TH-cam works, this pretty much sums it up perfectly.
When we started our channel, we were limited to where, and how long we could travel. We've been watching TH-cam for well over a decade, so we had an idea of locations that could do well for us. We ended up traveling to Morocco and managed to get monetized in just 3 months. Those videos single handely could have monetized us (though we were already close at the time anyway). On the flip side, the growth also ended up hurting us. Our already small amount of subscribers were now at least 50%. When we started to post again outside of Morocco, literally none of this audience watched.
TH-cam noticed that our own audience wasn't even watching our content, so our subsequent videos all initially tanked. The "channels your audience watches" was completely in Arabic. It actually took is a few MONTHS to get out of it. 😂 Luckily we managed to slowly diversify our audience, and some of the old videos came back from the dead and flourished. It was brutal though!
The TH-cam game is so much more complex than people realize. There's a massive learning curve..and even after a year, we're still learning.

How do you guys work visas now to live full time in Hua Hin? Do you have a long term visa, working on a student visa or visa runs?
Very interested. What kind of camera is nececery, quality of the film and klipping program for the films.
It doesn't matter what camera you use, we use a $500 point and shoot.
Think you guys made the best decision in your choice for Hua Hin. Have heard of too many bloggers burning out in Bali. Time to get back to some normalcy.

You should have called this video "How to start your TH-cam in 2024". It gives you the algorithm that people want to know.
Without your vids I wouldn't have the knowledge about where I feel that I'd have a good time or waste of money, so I think you should be paid well from TH-cam as you give good honest info for so many travellers, without which for me personally I'd be lost.
By the way when I was in Playa del Carmen Mexico last year I couldn't find the dog sanctuary you visited before.

So Lloyd how many actual man hours went into that Vietnam V Log?
Depends how you look at it, we did have to travel Vietnam for 30 days to get all of the knowledge and footage, we also released around 15 videos while travelling. The actual video itself though took a couple of full days to record and edit.
Can you explain why you consider that a viral video? Wouldnt it have to get a large amount of views in a really short time to be classed as viral? I mean it’s got lots of views but it it’s been up 18 month….. is that a viral video? Genuine question.

You still need 4000 hours and 1000 subs to get AD revenue. The 500 subs and 3000 hours only will allow U to get super chats and memberships. It doesn't allow U to get the AD revenue untill U reach the next step which is 4000 hours in a year with the 1000 subs
