The issue is that they find it difficult to decide because a bunch of other states have permit requirements already, and ruling permits as unconstitutional would render all other states invalid and stir a raucous. Doesn't really relate to anything else but lack of conviction...

The shithole I live in, New York, needs to have all gun laws stripped and declared as unconstitutional. An they need to be forbidden from passing any new gun laws for the next 700 years.
We need a constitutional amendment that states any new law that violates the Constitution, will cause all the people involved (writers, signers, editors, financial supporters, lawmakers, ...), to lose any licenses they hold (including drivers), lose their pensions, lose their passport for life, be denied from being a lobbyist, lose their job, and be forbidden from holding any political office, any jobs in: federal, state, city, town, or dog catcher jobs in the future, and then be sentenced to 5 years in a maximum security prison in General Population.

I live on LI, NY. I’m telling you right now, they want to avoid a constitutional challenge at all b/c they know they’ll 100% lose. They want to futz around and dance between the lines on the issue at hand. That issue is, The government nor the police department should have the power nor the right to tell you, whether or not you are able to protect yourself with any kind of firearm you want to. In essence, these b/s laws that the government takes it upon itself to write without anyone’s consent, is totally unconstitutional and they know it. It’s all about control. They want to bus in millions of migrants, do no background checks on them, and then the people who have lived here for all their lives and likely all their parents and grandparents lives, are now unable to protect themselves from any type of threat, known or unknown. NYPD has it’s lowest employment numbers in over 35 years!! The government has unilaterally taken it upon itself to judge, whether or not you are allowed to protect yourself via use of a *specific* type of firearm?? This is entirely unconstitutional. But the Democrats don’t see it that way, and they play handball with the court process, as we see here. “SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED” should be stamped on their god damn foreheads.

The supreme court also said that a person could only be disarmed temporarily, even someone who is as bad as Rahimi, which means he should be incarcerated for a very long time because that is what he deserves for his actions but after he is released he is the people again and if he is no longer a danger to others then even a jerk like him should have his second amendment rights restored so that being the case people who have not been in trouble should definitely not have their rights infringed in any way

We have the same law in Maryland. It’s called a handgun qualification license. You have to pay the state for your right to own a firearm but at least it’s not under the state of Maryland’s discretion. He just go to the class and that’s it.
That’s still an infringement.
