growing up in East Tennessee this was what you listened to on the radio. I sold pop bottles for close to a year and a half to save up for a transistor radio where i became hooked on Rock and roll. But i still love the hero's of the Grand Ole Opray
Shelby, NC is my hometown. There’s a Great museum dedicated to Mr. Earl Scruggs, located in the the Historic Downtown Court Square of Shelby NC. My father was privileged to have met Mr. Scruggs on many occasions at the local Shelby airport. Not many people know this, but… Mr. Earl Scruggs was an accomplished Private Pilot. My dad was a Flight instructor at the local Shelby Airport since 1970. They became good friends over the years… when he would fly in, to visit friends and family back in Shelby NC. My dad always thought the world of Mr. Earl Scruggs. He was a great man.
Wow! I grew up with him and loved every AGS. I never knew he was such a talented musician. I can’t wait to watch more. Best part about getting old is finding out one of you favorites has “unlearned” history and you know it will be fun!
I grew up and still live in the mountains of Kentucky. Bluegrass music was created here, we are known as the Bluegrass state. I am always listening to Bluegrass and the South has a big following of Bluegrass music. 2 legends here.l
If Andy Griffith could do anything different.. and all could come up with was not smoking in front of us. That’s clean living man. What an example to us who watched him growing up.
I knew that Earl Scruggs was gonna play Foggy Mountain Breakdown. It's his signature song. BIG Number 1 hit for Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. Both Andy Griffith and Earl Scruggs are from North Carolina. Love them both. I don't care who they are NOBODY can't tell me Earl Scruggs needed to go into the Country Music Hall Of Fame. He deserved it.
Andy mentions the GENIUS Earl Hagen. One of the gods in the pantheon of theme song and television score composers. Listen to the incredible theme song composition and arrangement he did on the "I Spy" theme, then tell me please: Is that 4/4 or 5/4, or both at the same time? The man was a transcendent musical genius. Thanks for posting this, WBD!
You know I hear about star bad side But their on screen personality were true about real life ways that why the show live on through the years and people still love all true attitude that best describes our Country

That's the way I feel just now finding out all these years one of my favorite actors, Jeff Bridges, is a singer/musician with his band, The Abiders.

Griffith died on July 3, 2012 at the age of 86. RIP
Andy, Earl, and Doc Watson all passed within months of each other. Sad year.
George Lindsey from The Andy Griffith Show also died almost exactly a month before Andy.

He was 73 when this aired.
Where can I see this whole show?
How about the intro? Johnny Russel. Another music legend.
Nowadays you could just put a GPS tracker on that mule, or an Airpod or something like that. It was a simpler time back then.
Actually it was Johnny Russell.
Earl and the banjo improved my life, he was a gentleman, he would be cringing at the deterioration of civility, and recent election
The Ties😅
Who is that on mandalin? My memory is failing me...
Marty Stuart
@deweybright2463 yes! Thank you. It's been driving me nuts.
Is that Capn Crunch?
Scruggs, why you be rushinnng?
MMMhmm.
Why he acting like he’s playing though? He’s old we get it.
He was more of a picker so there is less hand movement
