This Concert was in 2015 on the Hockenheim Race-Track and the Stage was and is the biggest Concert-Stage of all time. PS: On TH-cam are many Songs with English Sublitles.
Band was founded in 1980. The album Viva Los Tioz was the first no 1 album of the band ... the next 6 albums went to no 1 in the album charts as well. They do have some great song for sure! :) There are a lot of german artists and bands who are around for decades, because they are extremly good! It's worth to check out more!
The Onkelz had a reputation as a (right wing) skinhead band, who then distanced themselves from Politics when they became successful. They had a really bad press and were banned from radio stations etc. The cultivated an image as "victims of the media" which attracted a lot of new fans. The Onkekz split in 2007 (?) and reunited in 2014, filling huge stadiums ever since. The music is good. For my kind of taste they cling too much to this image of a public enemy. They don't need to. They are top tier. They long had entered the German RnR hall of fame - if we had one.
They cultivate that image because they still have to fight the right wing accusations, nomatter what they do. They are still banned from media in germany. So, no, they dont get new fans because of that. To become a fan, you have to know someone, who gives you one of their albums (happend to me in 1994) you listen to it, you lke it or you dont. .... The Onkelz are the only Band, who never changed their line-up. For 44 years, always these 4 guys. As for the split-up, singer Kevin Russell was a politox drug addict for decades (politox means using anything to get high, at one point injektin himself with Jägrmeiser-liqour) the other members, especally Stefan tried to keep him in check. In 2004 they had a concert infront of the Virgin Records shareholders. That concert ended in disaster, Kevin was so high on drugs, he f*** up big time. He forgot his lyrics, he stumbled over cables and in the middle of one song, he left the stage, to have a pee and never came back. At this point, the others said "Thats it, you cant have a band with a drug addict" SO the last album of 2004 was called adioz and in 2005, there was one last concert at the Lausitzring. After that, everyone went their way and they didnt talk to each oter, for 9,5 years. And Kevins downfall began... he got even more into drugs, caused a car crash... nearly killing people. He was sent to rehab and to prison. After all that, he had to undergo surgory on his head and the removed 30% !!!! of his brain. One day, Stefan called the others to see if they could (at least) talk to each other. When they met, they realized "Nothing has changed, we ar still friends" after tinking about a reunion for a while Gonzo (guitars)said "Shit ...the spark is still there, this could work" So in 2014 they had their reunionconcetand it was epic. 2015, Böhse für Leben happend and it was the best Kevin in over 20 years. To show ther succsess, you can paraphrase a line from the 2005 documentary, to fit 2015. "At their first gig, a max of 20 people came..... at "Böhse fürs Leben" there have been 400.000"
While they were partly controversial in the mainstream, they had/have a huge fan base in Germany (as you could see) for decades, comparable to Rammstein. Videos with sub titles are a must for you, their lyrics carry their songs. Good ones are, without any order: - Danke für Nichts - Erinnerungen live - Flammen - Heilige Lieder - Hier sind die Onkelz - Leere Worte - Mexico Live - Wir ham noch lange nicht genug
the band is still viewed very controveral because of their "rightwing songs in their youth" but as much as ärzte was a far left punk band and changed so did the onkelz ... and while ärzte as left band hate the onkelz, i have to say most people i know love both bands xD böhse onkelz are still one of my favorite bands
Böhse Onkelz is one of the bands "Die Ärzte" were mocking in the song "Schrei nach Liebe" (which you reacted to). They sang "between Störkraft [right-wing-rock] and the Onkelz [this band, also right-wing-rock] there is a Kuschelrock LP [LP with romantic rock songs, translated: cuddle-rock]"
@@IsMirDochLattens "Die Ärzte" have re-recorded this song changing the "Onkelz" for "Andern", that is, "the others". (The left leaning) "Bob Dylan from Cologne" Wolfgang Niedecken officially lifted the ban by defending the "Onkelz" in a TV-Interview.
@@u.z.9383 Didn't know that, thanks for the update. Edit: Just tried to read up on the matter and couldn't find confirmation. But I found an article on Wikipedia and it says it was changed because Farin didn't want to restrict this topic to only those two bands. Can you provide a source on your claim?
@@IsMirDochLattens @u.z.9383 farin just changed it because he wanted to include more bands in it, he still thinks onzelz are rightwing and used "onkelz" later again to not be misunderstood ... I think its stupid, naming onkelz and störkraft in the same is like using hitler and merkel in the same ... it makes no sense störkraft is VERY CLEARLY nazi music and onkelz distance themself very clearly from the right scene (they were in their youth as much as the ärzte fast far left punk ... they are allowed to change but onkelz arent ... meh)
hey, cool reaction ^^ Usually if you search for it on TH-cam, a few of their songs are translated into English lyrics, even the documentary about their 40 year career with English subtitles I believe. I hope this will help you to continue with the reactions. Looking forward to it :D oh i would rate you tp react to: Wenn wir einmal Engel sind, Terpentin, Scheißegal, Nur die Besten sterben jung, Ich bin so wie ich bin, Nichts ist für die Ewigkeit, Wenn du Wirklich willst, Dunkler Ort, Der Platz neben mir, nah i could write their entire tracklist xD there many cool with deep meaning decide yourself 😅
The Böhse Onkelz are still the most successful German rock band in Germany and have been for over 20 years. The Onkelz don't just give concerts, they do festivals. Their concerts are three days in a row Onkelz festivals. They invite other bands. Apart from that, it's unclear to me why they don't suggest videos with English subtitles. That's so stupid.
@@TomTomson81 So, Rammstein is not german? Gimme a break. Their fanbase might be the same as Feuerschwanz's or Saltatio Mortis and definitely smaller than Electric Callboy
Yes, you have already reacted to the Onkelz. I grew up with the Onkelz and love them. They are controversial in Germany, so it wouldn't surprise me if you sparked an exhausting discussion with this video.
Ich muss zugeben, dass ich auch so meine Probleme mir früheren Dingen der Band hatte, aber seit kurzem gefällt mit die Band immer besser. Musikalisch sind die klasse. Darum hab ich dies video auch als Request gesendet an D
ok, lets try explaining this in english. BO started at a more right wing believe rock Band. They got a lot of Beef for that from media. Which ended in a full on bann in media. maybe there keystone to success. So there is and ever will de the controversy about BO being NAZIS (yes i said the german N word). from my opposition: they lived of that hole "the forbidden fruit " thing. most of there Albums shot on #1 right away. Fakt is. every Kid born between 1980-1990 knows them and most of there Songs. you can understand there lyrics either way. but they are critical. I myself lived BO. Contra Politics, establishment, and what not. but be aware that the stigma of Nazimusik is still there.
