Böhse Onkelz are one of these bands, who have nice rough lyrics from the street and fans all over in germany without tv or radio shows. And they are big!
MTV Germany dragged the band through the mud with lies and agitation, as many other media still do today. That's how the song came about. The last one to try that was a TV morning show. They then received a shitstorm like never before from fans, whereupon they apologized live on TV.
In July 2001, the television station MTV broadcast the long-awaited MTV Masters documentary about the Böhsen Onkelz, setting new standards of opportunism. The Persian editor Leyla Piedayesh was deprived of complete control over the report two days before it was due to be broadcast. The interview with Dr. Lill, the Commissioner for Foreigners in Bremen, which was conducted especially for the broadcast, was cut out. Instead, they interviewed "Die Ärzte", the director of a skinhead film and an NPD member. All of the Onkelz's clear statements about their history, which were edited together from the 2000 tour material, were portrayed as implausible by MTV's off-screen commentary. The editor Leyla Piedayesh refused to sign the report with her name because, in her opinion, it did not show the truth and did not reflect what she had discovered in her year-long research. After the broadcast, the program management received a flood of emails from outraged Onkelz fans, which were rejected by the station with a standard reply email. The Böhsen Onkelz and their management published a statement on the MTV scandal on their homepage and stopped working with the station forever. The Berlin journalist and head of the Archive of Youth Cultures Klaus Farin was also interviewed on the subject of Böhse Onkelz for this MTV Masters. Although the 30-minute interview contains many interesting contributions, MTV edited the entire conversation down to one sentence in which Klaus Farin said something about the song "Türken raus".
Well, your pronounciation of their name is quite good, I guess! A lot of people in Germany (who don`t like them) say that this band doesn`t even has a right to exist - show me one other German rock band, able gathering 350000 fans at one weekend for two concerts!!! Best regards from Marburg / Germany!
It's a song about the mtv masters with the böhse unclez. MTV deliberately portrayed the band as bad and right-wing. The program that was shown was completely different to the filming and the arrangement. It was a huge scandal. It was maybe 25 years ago.
BTW this track as far i know made it very high in the charts, so MTV Germany that day asked the Onkelz to play it. They were actually angry - but the Onkelz never made a Video so MTV made a Video themself for the Onkelz and PLAYED IT IN GERMAN TV. here is the hundred year old Video if you search for *Keine Amnestie für MTV auf MTV mit Ansage (Böhse Onkelz)*
Not quite, the reason why they didnt do anything for MTV was very dark, not just "angry".... MTV wanted a documentary about the Onkelz. So they asked iranian reporter Leyla Piedayesh to make a film. The Onkelz invited her with open arms, showed her all the good and the bad stuff. She made interviews and everything. HOWEVER the Bosses of MTV had a plan. They wanted to show "how rightwing" the Onkelz are. SO, in their minds, sending a female iranian reporter would end in disaster. When she showed the documentary MTV, the Bosses been like "Wait...thats it? Where is the rightwing, the anti women, anti refugee stuff?" She said "Thats all i ve got, even if i wanted, i cant say a bad word about them" MTV ordered her to change the film. She refused saying "thats not jornalism" she was fired on the spot and her film was reedited. Replacing pro Onkelz stuff with na*i images and interviews of people who didnt like them.... To top it all, the MTV presenter announced the documentary saying "Until today, noone ever believed the Onkelz ever left the right-wing. And TBH i can see why!" The Onkelz knew what kind of film she had made and went mad. This song was a reaction. To make matters worse, for MTV, the song reached no2 of the charts, so MTV was forced to play it.
Böhse Onkelz have always been a non political band (more or less). There are quite a few media diss songs by the Onkelz and most of them are very personally motivated (not politically) because for decades the German media lied about how "right wing" the band allegedly is (they're not).
they were rightwing in their youth but then did alot of concerts vs right and have a clear position against rightwing and still people call them nazis ... because of what they did basicly as kids ... its so braindead ... one of my alltime favorite bands and i am far leftwing xD
