- Ahoy Fisho's, This week Dicko and I hit the estuaries to attempt the new lure every fish challenge! That means we couldn't use the same lure to catch more than one legal fish before it needed to be swapped for a new one. Our target for the day is the mighty flathead and we were focusing on using soft plastic lures to get the job done. It was a little bit of slow start, but the captures quickly started stacking up after we got our eyes in!

Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

Timmy Turtle did this with just Z Mans a few years back. Very interesting for fishos who tend to stick with a couple of favourite colours - which is only human nature and obviously a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
That’s it mate, I think colours definitely have their place, but they also catch fisherman!

Great video guys, I've got a heap of pink paddle tails in various sizes, but haven't noticed if they catch more than other natural colours, I fish the Parramatta River Sydney, and the water colour and clarity changes a lot, when would you go to a bright pink or fluro colour? in clear water or when it's dirty and low light conditions, love the flathead video guys, great work,

I don’t don’t think colour makes a difference most of the time, I do some intentionally crazy paint jobs on some of my lures and still catch good fish, I think it comes down to the action 90% of the time.

Sometimes I think it doesn't matter when I see the Mulloway school come in and smash everyone's lures, sometimes I can't catch a single fish until I change colour (usually pink is the one that works in those situations).
Who knows, but I think this shows that sometimes when conditions are right you can throw anything at the fish and they will eat it.

Hi Sammy, i find any plastic over 3 inch means lost fish due to tail grabs.
I dont know anything about flat heads but here in the states I have had days where trout short strike my stuff like this. I'll usually go to a smaller profile to see if that helps but if it doesn't I'll go to live bait if it's allowed where I'm fishing.

The only difference I can see is Dicko has a bit tighter drag. Might not let them shake it out as easy.
