I had an SKR1.4 turbo with the TFT35 V2.0 which would not connect; I had the serial port assignments one setting off the whole time.

I've been watching your videos and I really wanted to install the skr 1.4 and the tft35 e3 v3 on a geeetech a20m because nobody puts this in there. Hundreds on the ender 3. But nothing on the a20m. But I'm happy to say as of this morning I have it all installed and working. Just have to button up stuff.

I have one question: are the pins for the rs232 on the skr 1.3 the same as on the 1.4?...or is it the reverse order?
There's a manual for each, but if you check pinout diagram they're very close.
I'd like to see a video of the uses just the tft has. Like what can you use the usb port for or the sd card slot or the different plugs on it.

I myself have the BIGFREETECH SKR E3-DIP V1.1 with a B.F.T. T24-V1.1 screen.
I don't think there is much difference?

For anyone trying to change the default preheat settings in the TFT mode on one of these screens, you have to do it in the screen firmware in the config.ini file. It wont change the preheat values in TFT mode if you change the preheat temps in Marlin. This took me weeks to figure out and I'm hoping I can save someone else trying to do this same thing
You can always set in sliced gcode file when slicing.
For my ante a8 it would pretty much be the same price is right
So in order for the tft to attach to print it needs steppers and stepper drivers plugged in?
No, but it's a good way to demonstrate it works.
With the TFT35 V2 you can print via the SD on skr board? I cannot init the SD on the board
It's possible. Check BTT GitHub I think there was an issue opened on this.
Is this for any TFT display, like Nextion? I have the 1.4 Turbo and a Nextion 7.
At the moment the video is only for BTT TFT display. I might try the display in the future.
I probably asked this on the wrong video earlier. Will the SD car slot work with this configuration still or do i need the two ribbon cables for that?

I can confirm that you cant print from your TFT screen without the ribbon cables being connected
Are the config settings in Marlin 2 left with, no display selected, if using uart mode for TFT? With SKR 1.4 Turbo are any connections to Exp1 or 2 required for TFT use? Thanks for the help.
I think you might be able to use TFT, but I'll test during Livestream Friday to verify or disprove.
@@EdwardBraiman I found another tutorial that covers the exp cables function. The TFT screen can switch back to old style display if selected (ie RepRap full graphic display) by holding down the button dial 3 sec. UART connection feeds touch screen style, exp cables feed old 12864 style simultaneously. th-cam.com/video/57f-sG0nFeM/w-d-xo.html
I have a real problem with mfr not including detailed instructions and board manual, but that's the way it goes these days. I learn good.

If im compiling marlin on a new SKR v1.4 Turbo using the TFT35 V3 will I need to also add the boot.h and statusscreen.h files with my configuration files into the marlin folder? will this effect the unicode screen?
I'll need to research boot.h as it's a header file of some type.
@@EdwardBraiman hi, thanks for getting back to me. I started a discussion on Reddit group for the bigtreetech about this. Its sounds like if I want the stock info for the marlin mode then add it but if not its default.
hello, why did you connect the USB cable to the SKR once the pin selection is set to VDD, as in that case the SKR is not accessible on windows ? is there any reason ?
If you're referring to jumper one setting is for direct power from a PSU and other is for USB power.
Hello another question. So I did get this running on my a20m. Skr 1.4 and tft35. Everything works ok. But when I put a micro sd in the board slot with g-code files and it say no media detected. But it does still flash firmware. When I use the usb on the screen with g-code it works fine. When I try to use the sd slot on the screen it shows up but locks up everything if I try to print. Idk if you know what I should try or not. Thank you.
I think one slot is for upgrades and the other is for gcodes.
The slot on the SKR motherboard is always for firmware.
Do we need the marlin mode on the display when using the SKR 1.4 or 1.4 turbo?

Yes, sorry the TFT display. I just installed a Mini E3 2.0 and I can access both screens with it. I watch your video and you didn’t access both screens meaning the marlin and touch screens. Great videos
One mode of the screen is legacy and other is TFT display. I figured explaining both in a video is confusing.

Just say SKR is enough?
TFT is treated like an external Computer by Marlin firmware.

Only setting on Marlin firmware side is serial2.

For several days I have been trying to connect the BTT TFT35 V3.0 monitor to BTT GTR and I keep getting the message "no printer attached". Classic marlin works fine, but touch mode doesn't. Do you have an idea how to fix it?
Which version of Marlin firmware?
Which version of BTT TFT 32 firmware?
Which serial port number are you using for second serial port number?

For second serial port what's the number. I think the second one can not be same as first, so try 1.
use a multimeter find the ground wire so you know which driection to plug the connector

if your screen will be stuck on "lcd12864 simulator" and nothing works.. then you did it wrong. (the latest upload is structured diffrently)
pick one of the "theme" folders
and copy the tft24 (or whatever screen you use) to the root folder of the sd card aswel
