That quote at the beginning of the video says something I love about Rory..."Don't get crushed there...watch your back." I am in my 60's and just heard of him in the last year but, man, this guy was special. You just feel the joy that he has to give when he is playing...like he wants to share a gift with you. I wish I could have been friends with him. You are missed...thanks for what you gave...
I saw one of his last shows in the States in Hermosa Beach California. As I was walking into the club so was Rory and I almost bumped in to him. People were crowding him. When we were side by side, I had a Herco Heavy pick that I have always used since beginning to play. It was because of him that I play with a Herco. Anyway, I asked him to trade picks and he said yes (a tradition with guitarists) And handed him mine. He did a double take and asked what's the use and laughed handing me his. I told him this one was from him and had mojo. A treasure to me. As he stepped away he said, "this is the one I'm using tonight". MY PICK!!!
Wow! What a tremendous experience! Thanks for sharing. Bet you'll never let Rory's pick out of your lucky hands. When you play are you playing for Rory? Happy St. Patrick's Day 2021 from Mississippi.

Rory Gallagher was absolutely the greatest high energy blues guitar ever. Total control over that Strat. No guitarist ever was better. That is why he was so revered by the Stones, Clapton and Beck. He was the major influence for Brian May of Queen.
Outstanding does no justice here, as a descriptive adjective, to what Rory did that day. A day shouldn't go by without somebody posting praise here to this performance. WOW !!!! This fella had the blues.
That was just brilliant. I’m getting on in years, had a busy day at work, just sitting having a beer and played that vid. It doesn’t get any better. I’m definitely going to Ireland next year to join in with the Rory festival. God bless him.
Simply amazing..fantastic....Rory played the blues in a very intimate and creative way. His sound was clean and crisp..but powerful... he was doing this on his beat up Fender when no one else was doing anything similar since Jimmy Hendrix left us. I saw him live in 1976 and it still amazes me 40 years later. One of my favorite artists ever...Saudades !!
He did 3 nights mid seventies in Belfast when most other Artists shunned our lovely city, and I was at them all....as he left the europa hotel we asked him to play ‘a million miles away’ and he obliged, great memories....Gerry Mcavoy on fine form too
The one and only Rory Gallagher. Legendary bluesman. Master of that '61 Strat. Deep blues to your soul is where Rory lives. Love his vocal/guitar harmony duets. Gerry MacAvoy is a huge part of Rory's band. 20 years his bassman. There is no finer guitarist/performer than Rory Gallagher and I know he is trading 8s with the legends in blues heaven. My jam buddy list....Jeff Healey, Jesse Ed Davis, SRV, Jimi, Magic Sam and all the seminal bluesman on Chess and Sun Records. God bless you Rory. RIP

Maestro gentleman and guitarist extraordinaire. Was at this gig and the energy and craft of the man was mindblowing. Gaelic genius! You are sorely missed but greatly respected, mesmerising ☘
This is a master class in musical dynamics. The whole song is a superbly crafted narrative that Rory spells out with each phrase. Despite being simply a slow moving standard blues number, Rory creates a whole series of individual elements in the song such that you never get bored with it. I love the section with the lyrics that start at 2:19, "I would marry you baby". Really listen. He drops the volume of the chord at that point right down so quiet, then the lyric, then that exquisite guitar line as he animates the impression formed by the lyric line and expressed in that guitar line followed by an equally delicate and precise follow up. It is a priceless piece of guitar brilliance. And how he weaves heavy full on hard rock guitar lines in this narrative at the same time is a marvel in and of itself. No wonder I love this guitar player so much. RIP Rory. You had so much more to offer.
