The Irish hurricane knocking and rocking that college on its side.....saw Rory 7 times....all great concerts....even had the pleasure of helping him set up his gear.....Rory on!!!
Rory Gallagher was a guitarist of The Highest Level, Totally Unique and Unequalled, A True Master of His craft. He could also write All his own songs etc, sing them too, play his guitar in a way that will never be matched or bettered, combine all that with his magical, unrivalled stage presence, charisma and style. And you have A Man, who was a leading and shining light, a pioneer and a true one-off performer, not just in blues/rock but music in general. He graced Us All, with His Presence.👏👏👏👏💚🔥🎸🌟🇨🇮🫶

@@drummingearth5326 You either get Rory or you don't. I got into Rory Gallagher with the Photo Finish album and once I saw him at Nags Head North in 85 I was a Rory fanatic. Saw him again in 91 at the El Mocombo in Toronto. Pure joy. He was a blues purist the likes I have never seen before or since. RIP Rory
Absolutely sure. I 'm french and really fan of rory since 11yer old and i ve see lot of concert of him in france, but this tour 79 is one of the five best rock concert of my life. Thank you, i m not all alone whith that feeling. God bless rory.
I have to agree, many of the songs were unfamiliar to me. Also, his playing was the rawest and was brutal on the guitar and rarely if ever breaks a string despite going to stretching them to the max and beyond. Saw him in 71 or 72 ( I was so blown away on THC) Rory came on and took to another dimension. Canned Heat, Freddy King, Savoy Brown also were on the bill so Rory was in good company. One of the most loving n delightful personality's of any true star.
Saw Rory live a few times, no one but no one better live, and believe me I've seen most of the so called greats. But Rory live was the most energy I've ever experienced at a gig,and the man's a genius of a guitarist one of the best ever, just ask Slash,Brian May,even Clapton said it was Rory's playing that got him back in to the blues when he was in his heroin haze. The Stones, Cream and Deep Purple were all after his services, nuff said. The Maestro ☘
A true gentleman, eloquent both verbally & musically; modest; man of the people; no "star" antics or pretensions. I saw him only once 1972 Xmas-New Year concert , Dublin National Stadium. A terrible, unnecessary loss to Ireland and far beyond. World's greatest guitarist , ever, with a true, rich singing voice. R.I.P. Rory.
Please remember Rory played his music right through punk,New wave and I can Promise you EVERYONE still turned out and loved and supported him.A total legend.
Rory wrote Brute force & Ignorance about the Punk scene though i don't know if he actually saw the band he sings about which may have been the sex Pistols , he was so open minded even he really never said anything bad about what was some of the worst music rock had to offer. He must have found it amusing in some odd way. Saw him several times in the 70s & lord have mercy he was one of the best players ever. 🎸🔥

It is rumoured that Hendrix once was asked: "How does it feel being the greatest guitarist in the world ?" He replied: "I have no idea, but please ask Rory Gallagher..."
The Boogie Woogie Man. The man from Company B & R.. A man blessed with immense talent. A man of true grit and great kindness, His like was never seen before and possibly will never will be seen again. The one and only, the master, the very brilliant Rory Gallagher. He had the power to lift the roof of a building during his concerts. It’s wearing out my index finger pushing thumbs up to soooo many comments who know in their soul and groin Rory was peerless My blues rock and acoustic blues guitar hero I’d say demi-god but Rory was so humble and modest - diametrical opposite of his searing performance - which I had the privilege and joy to see, hear and feel here in New Zealand 1974 and 1982
Hey Rory, thank you for the many concerts I have had the pleasure of watching you and your band in and am still rocking it at 60+ thank you for the great memories ,sorely missed but never forgotten.
Rory will always be with us through the music he gave .. I've watched Rory live on many websites and I'm just mesmerized.. Why Rory didn't get the recognition in America is beyond myself.. I have my opinions but, I think that I'll keep it to myself because I don't want to unleash my" fury"..
I was there, just down the road from where I lived at the time. For me, this was it! No internet then so Melody Maker to keep in touch of where the bands were playing.
Hey Giannis, just found this. Absolute perfection. Rory at his comfort level> Saw him many times. What a performer. His guitar was tied directly to his heart.............
this has to be played at max volume to have any chance of reaching the sheer loudness of the real thing... I was lucky enough to catch him live on this tour... my ears were ringing for days afterwards...
+Paul Cooke I've read that in a few comments now that his concerts were loud as hell. :D I really wish I could have seen him in the 70s/80s but I was born '71 and first heard of Rory in '94 just to hear in '95 that he had passed... Though I vividly remember the concert posters with Rory Gallagher lettering on it everywhere back then. He was heavy touring all the time ;)
+Eily Bergin Saw Rory 3x in the States, and can confirm that it was LOUD. Stood right at the edge of the stage at one club show, got the Rory handshake and the whole 9 yards, but standing 15 feet in front of his Marshall combo pinned my ears and hair back. Looks like in this show his main amp is the old Fender Concert. I own one of the later ones (his was probably the old 4x10) and when turned up it will knock the shingles off my neighbor's house. (The only show I ever thought was louder was Husker Du, when I was standing 60 feet back at the same venue, and Bob Mould nearly put my whole body through the back wall.) Really miss Rory these past 20 or so years. If you don't already have it, look for the book Gallagher, Marriott, Derringer, Trower. Some great information from interviews with bandmates from Taste days through Rory's demise.
@@diddlytube hey therev, great heartfelt comment to read , can only imagine the sheer volume and this Irish guy hitting the states. Must've been a high voltage experiance a definate highlights in life like a newborn for eg. I'm 85 norn so had no chance of witnessing the real thing only bu these videos. Wish we still had Rory too it's so sad that he departed so early. God bless you in your life. Dave from wales UK
10 minutes to 12 Minutes. This guy is very nice and he plays his heart to those kids. I just love him. I saved this to my top shelf picks which I’m trying to keep down to 15 including a few musicians. 1. 2. 3. 4....... you’ve got this!
Brilliant concert, only wish that I could have been there....front row....center! From reading the comments below, I feel the LOVE for this man. Rory was the BEST, a real legend! So glad that I happened upon this video, thank you for sharing! I LOVE RORY GALLAGHER⋰⋱⋰⋱❤
I was at this concert and many others up to 1986 and consider this as one of if not his best. This was the only time the propaganda machine called the UK’s BBC ( Brussels Broadcasting Company) got it right with its sound quality and sharp video of the best artist of his time. The one and only MR Rory Gallagher and the best Power trio of its time .Recorded between 1978 - 1981.
The more I find videos like this the more I think he was quite possibly the greatest guitarist ever - totally at one with the instrument, able to switch from one playing style to another seamlessly and effortlessly, and from what I hear a genuinely decent humble bloke too. Only wish I'd been around to see him play live. Thanks for uploading, this is what youtube was made for!
I saw him a couple months before the show November 8th 1978 at the Royal Oak Music Theater and it was absolutely brilliant he played for over 2 hours he started at 9 and they turn the lights on after 11 because he played so long , on a scale from 1 to 10 he was an 11 that night , his tone was absolutely brilliant and he was having a great night. As a guitar player I know that having a great tone can make a difference in how you play , you can have it set the exact same way that you did the night before and come back and it won't sound quite right it is strange but anyways that night he was smiling and having a great time and the crowd was eating out of the palm of his hands . I saw him on the next tour in 1979 and he's sounded great but it sounded more like the 1980s stage-struck album at seem to be more distorted tone for some reason like he wasn't playing straight through the amp, but it was still a great show a good 8 out of 10 for sure
So lucky to have seen him live! I live in Cork and I was around 5 when he passed. But I listen to Rory every single day of my life and he inspires the absolute hell out of me. Being able to see live performances like this make me smile from ear to ear.
Saw this linup in chicago 79 as good as I EVER saw! And I've seen a lot. I really wasn't into him when I went to show, heard a interview on WXRT in the afternoon while workin in chi. Bought a ticket for me an some friends on a whim.None of us really knew much about him, but Fuckin Wow what a show. 2 plus hours at Park West. He really was something! totally heartfelt performance.
Rory oh yeah I saw him in North of France - Montreuil sur Mer ( at the feet of Remparts Citadel Town - Two times at Lille with Stocks on guest ) Great Show

Yeah I have seen some amazing shows. When I seen him in 85 he blew the roof off and played till 2 in the morning. By the end of the show I was exhausted because I was so into this electric energy that Rory gave out. Best bar show I ever saw and I saw STEVIE Ray Vaughn in a bar. Rory Gallagher was pure heart and soul. The most underrated guitarist ever. RIP Rory true blues man
Love to watch this, Rory is a fantastic guitar player. Just wish it was longer. I've read that he liked to blow headliners away here in the states. A friend at work saw me with a Rory tee shirt on and said, " I saw him open for Sammy Hagar once, and he blew Sammy off the stage." I don't know why he wasn't very popular here, unless acts were afraid for him to open for them. This is Great stuff, I love the whole band.
+Michael Harris that is the case....they were scared. Aerosmith was definitely scared. Rory blew Aerosmith off the stage in '74 in New York City and he ended up opening for Aerosmith again in '78, part of a tour leg---world series of rock, something like that....and Steven Tyler admitted that he and Joe Perry were watching him backstage in '78 and were looking at each other like "We better not fuck up"....they knew he was leaps and bounds better----they just didn't want to be embarrassed.
+Michael Harris ....nobody was going to out-perform Rory Gallagher...and if you were blown off stage by him.....it's not necessarily a big defeat....lot of blown off stage victims/bands....it's like losing a round of golf to Jack Nicklaus, most likely it's gonna happen....so just strive to become better and learn from the greatest.
Just seems like he has been so underrated. It's a toss up between Gary Moore and Rory for me. Have you seen Gary's "Blues For Jimi concert", the guitar work was fabulous. After I got out of the Army, I stayed in Germany for Three years and worked. And I realized just how much good entertainment people in the States miss out on.
Unbelievable!!!!! Long live Rory!!!!

I’d say demi-god but Rory was so humble and modest - diametrical opposite of his searing performance - which I had the privilege and joy to see, hear and feel here in New Zealand 1974 and 1982
Hey Rory, thank you for the many concerts I have had the pleasure of watching you and your band in and am still rocking it at 60+ thank you for the great memories ,sorely missed but never forgotten.
TBH, this has got to be one of Rory's best ever performances. Pure class, what a fantastic talented man. Photo Finish is my favourite album.
This is music for the soul.. Rory will never die because of what he gave when to us through his heart and soul.. One word, "eternity"!!!!
Rory will always be with us through the music he gave .. I've watched Rory live on many websites and I'm just mesmerized.. Why Rory didn't get the recognition in America is beyond myself.. I have my opinions but, I think that I'll keep it to myself because I don't want to unleash my" fury"..
lucky to have seen Rory mamy times, what a geniune gentleman. miss him. RORY FOREVER
Can't stop watching this.
That's been the case with me as well. Since I first heard this mans music many years ago I've never tired of it.
Rory is a way of life... Miss my guide... Rory !!!
Doesn't matter what version of this song you hear, they're all good. Great improviser Mr G.
Thank God for TH-cam ! Finding Rory music in the US used to be difficult ! Simply the greatest !

Rory greatest of all time
GREATEST EVER EVER EVER !! RORY RULES! 🎸💚👑💞☘️
Once I start listening it's hard to stop. I'm on a daily dose.... visual or audio
Same here ... I have to watch Rory Gallagher's video on stage before sleep no matter what
I was there, just down the road from where I lived at the time. For me, this was it! No internet then so Melody Maker to keep in touch of where the bands were playing.
Just perfect! Amazing Rory!
Extraordinary musician with full of emotion on his guitar riffs!
Awesome gig, my first real rock gig, haven't watched it through for 40 years
He is just so beautiful in every way! The ease with which he plays all those riffs and his childlike happy smile!
Absolutely. He melts the heart💓
I saw Rory on this tour in Manchester about a month before this was filmed. Absolutely fabulous!
So much loyality towards passion for music and audiences .. Rory always gave more than 200% genuinely .
Hey Giannis, just found this. Absolute perfection. Rory at his comfort level> Saw him many times. What a performer. His guitar was tied directly to his heart.............
Ich hab Rory dreimal live gesehen - dieser Mann war genial mich hat es jedesmal verspult - Rory hab's gut
this has to be played at max volume to have any chance of reaching the sheer loudness of the real thing...
Bleesed to have seen Rory many times 70s 80s,was always a barnstorming show,a true legend in my mind, thanks for the music sir.
He moves the soul and melts the heart. Thankyou💓🙏
Linda, you said it perfectly. Thank you.
This band was great!!!
10 minutes to 12 Minutes. This guy is very nice and he plays his heart to those kids. I just love him. I saved this to my top shelf picks which I’m trying to keep down to 15 including a few musicians.
1. 2. 3. 4....... you’ve got this!
Thank you. Just to be in possession of such perfection. Thank you. God bless you. Rory ruled!!
Hello from Wales UK are you in Ireland ? Love Rory also and it's good to see others who feel the same
I was at this concert and many others up to 1986 and consider this as one of if not his best. This was the only time the propaganda machine called the UK’s BBC ( Brussels Broadcasting Company) got it right with its sound quality and sharp video of the best artist of his time. The one and only MR Rory Gallagher and the best Power trio of its time .Recorded between 1978 - 1981.
Brilliant video. Rory on top form here, doing stuff from what is in my opinion his best album, Photo Finish. He is up there with the guitar greats.
Perfect connection with the audience....a beloved artist 💋a beautiful man 💋💋💋💋
Rory played for people who enjoyed his playing , he loved to entertain.
@@NA0S90 im from CORK as well never got to see RORY live my loss RIP RORY XXX not a day goes by that i dont listing to RORY ❤❤❤
That is a helluva rollercoaster 44 mins. Goes through every emotion imaginable. Extraordinary. They don't make them like Rory anymore, sadly.
The Park West show was Dec. 10, 1979. I saw them in a small club in the Minnespolis suburbs the very next night.
"do" Drove in from East Dundee, IL. Great show and I became a fan for life.
I keep going back for more....great concert!
Rory oh yeah I saw him in North of France - Montreuil sur Mer ( at the feet of Remparts Citadel Town - Two times at Lille with Stocks on guest ) Great Show
Rory, there will never be anyone like you, miss you so much. Thank you for this upload

La classe 👌le feeling à l'état pur 🤠j ai eu la chance de le voir plusieurs fois près de chez moi en Suisse au Montreux Jazz et Paléo.
Un guitariste au doigts de fées ✌
This clip had only just appeared (many of Rory's blocked here lately), a great performance from the master, thank you.
Linda Jones why would they block Rory. Beats me, Margo,
I praise the lord...could see Rory play for so many times...
Brilliant concert. Loved it. Thanks a million for posting this. Rory forever.
Ευχαριστώ παρά παρά παρά... ζέσεις. Και χερω. Στα Αγγλικά τώρα. As a Scot, I so appreciate you posting this. Wow. I watched it live on broadcast and was blown away then. Saw him only once actually live at a gig. Just brilliant. A life force.

The Real Guitar/Blues God...Nobody...Nobody Comes Closer...
I'm 55 seen all the greats Rory is my favorite just honest gritty guitar mastery.
greetings from the great state of Texas USA would love to see Ireland one day I've already been to England phenomenal unbelievable Place modest people gorgeous people very kind Rory Gallagher and Ben was great let's not forget Rod DF the first drummer for the second drummer all the drummers were great gorgeous band let's not forget the keyboardist I like them with the keyboards a lot better with Miss with the Lou Martin and the legendary terrie McEvoy they're they're all legends gorgeous men they were nothing like this I don't think any banned from the United States can beat the stand and of the son come pretty close I was little girl during this time. Rory Gallagher was drop-dead gorgeous don't understand why he never had children and and got married such a shame God bless you and
Jimi hendrix must have been a great show too
Yeah I have seen some amazing shows. RIP Rory true blues man
nobody could touch this guy. Proficient!
Well, he shamed Aerosmith in concert...He was a talent man, I highly doubt anyone wanted him to open up for them...unless they wanted to hear RORY!!!!
I think he also opened for Rush at one stage - a bit of a strange choice considering the type of music that they played.
