Nice overview of the race. Good example of horseplayer logic. BTW, it looked to me during the Derby that the horses weren't comfortable with the racing surface. Seemed that traction was an issue. I didn't watch the rest of the program. Was that the case with other races that day, or this traction thing a thing of my imagination? It was a sealed track. Can you tell us what that really means?
A sealed track is where the maintenance crew will use steel hydraulic plates or pull weighted wooden floats to pack down and compress the cushion which is a standard procedure that is done before it rains so the water can better roll off the track rather than flooding and creating pools of water or washouts for tracks that have already been saturated the same hydraulic plates or floats are also used to help squeeze excess water from the track after heavy rains have caused it to become muddy or sloppy. Tracks are also all slightly banked so that any sitting water or water that is squeezed out by the floats will drain under the inside rail

Correct!! the track sucked and it seriously affected the outcome!
