Seems there's been some updates since this video perhaps? For me, the usb signal comes into the board as usb1 and usb2. Select the tape channel, set usb1 to left and usb2 to right. Then your tape fader will work and have stereo
Wow, I’ve been dreaming about buying this desk and watching these videos for a couple years now, and can’t believe I’ve neglected to say thank you. So... thank you so much for making these videos.
Finally!!!!!! Video that makes sense in pure English that didn't put me to sleep or lose me completely in waffle or sales speech. Presonus seems to have mad agreements with some real nutters out there thinking they know how to teach or explain. You my friend are clear, concise and extremely student friendly, understanding our needs. Thank you. Keep the great videos coming. I have subscribed and am now an avid follower. Kind regards
Great job Matt! This is a welcome video series that's more current in matching the latest Series III firmware. One suggestion would be to add video markers for easy navigation. I refer all my clients to watch these in getting started or as a refresh to better understand the integration of the Series III and Studio One. Keep them coming.
Ah..these videos are exactly what we need. Perfectly explained with the detail no one else has shown. Looking fwd to a future purchase of a 32 SX. And this is only my first video of a series. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🇬🇧
Slight differences when using a Mac, but still a great video and very helpful. I've been using the desk for about a year - something happened between my Mac and the desk and nothing was working so I started from scratch - like factory reset. It killed me to do that but, everything is working now and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.
Great Job! Thanks for that. I own the 32SC. I have done everything as you explained. But I have some questions: on video timeline 0:50 you mentoined that you connected your mixer with USB and ethernet cable. Is the ethernet cable nessesary for only homerecording and DAW mode to work with Presonus Stusio One 5.0? I'm not using any stageboxes with ethernet or Tablet connestions at this moment, maybe later. Thanks!
I haven't made it past step 1....Why is there nothing coming into my my desk from my computer on the "Tape In" even if I've changed the input source to USB 37 - L and 38 - R????
Please do a video that shows how to route audio from protools to my mixer for additional processing then back Into protools after I’m finished. I just purchased the studio live 32sc & I’m having trouble doing this
Excellent excellent vidéo! I did a reset to my SL and configure it exactly like you demonstrate. Very good. You demonstrate the link between SL and SO very efficiently and completely. Thanks a lot!
Hi nice video but my studiolive 24 series III does not respond the same instructions. When you hit select at time 5:58 what channel are you selecting? Also when I push any select button, I do not get the selected channel position window. Where is that? I would love to get an answer to those questions. I am very frustrated in understanding the routing. If anyone can chime in here I would greatly appreciate it.
Hi there ,do you know a way to "loopback" audio back to a DAW on the series 3 plz? For example ,i use Superior Drummer multi out.i'm trying to route kick, snare etc to individual channel on the mixer and send all those individual channels back to my DAW to record as audio track.Presonus customer care could not help me 😅
For the tape In channel (at the 2 min mark in the video), he appears to go to the channel 39 fader. Can someone tell me what's going on here? Just trying to follow along here and it almost appears like he's arbitrarily selecting a channel within the next bank of channels.
Next question: On your Video 2 in this series at timeline 1:18, I did not have the option to select the Studio One in the menue. Only none, Hui and the Mackie. I have installed the latest aktual firmware. What I have doing wrong? Thanks!
I really tried everything. cannot get the i/o work in Studio one. I find the DAW mode on the mixer and it will find my studio one6 Then i change the I/O in Studio one, but every time i want to save the i/o changes ive made, all my settings dissapear immedeantly. I hope some can help me through these settings, and get it work.
Wow this is the best vi deo I've seen on this mixer. I was going nuts trying to figure out how to get playback from my macbook. Thanks for this, because I searched the internet just to get bits of info that doesn't work!
When I'm playing music on my mac, it's not coming, like u were showing, on the tape Channel, mines is channel 1 and only when I press solo... how can I fix it?
I am using SL64S connected to a MacBook for UC surface and reaper for broadcast mix. The problem is that I get random recurring drop outs on FOH and clll mixes. What could going on here? Please help.
I have watched all four of your first 4 videos and I cannot find where you show how to route the DAW recording, like the piano track you recorded, back to the headphone outputs for the guitar player to hear when he's playing his acoustic. Please explain...
I started out with Logic Pro X, then got the 32S desk. It was a constant battle to get them to speak to each other (especially with a Mackie Big Knob Plus in between them). I have decided to use Studio One with the Presonus now. Would you recommend working in 48KHz? I keep coming across disparities between the gadgets. When I tried changing to 44.1KHz, something in the Mac had other ideas and switched it back again to 48KHz. At the moment, I am getting levels, but no audio, so I must have a routing error somewhere. Excellent videos by the way; I am going through them all again now.
Nice video. If you solo a track from the DAW or solo an input from an analog source, will that solo function only be available through the monitor out jacks and NOT the main output jacks (like an analog console would be set up)...Also, does this PreSonus "Sole In Place".....(reflect how the panning is set as well as soloing the channel). Thanks. Phil
You stated the board is connected via ethernet. Is that a straight through cable connected directly to the computer or is it plugged into a router/switch ?
Can you have more than one stereo USB inputs. Say if I wanted to have different applications assigned to different faders. Windows allows to assign different devices to every app, but does the mixer support multiple Stereo USB Inputs or is it just the one (tape in)?
Hi, unfortunately, about only 70% of the information pertains to the Rackmount version. Does anyone know of any documentation or TH-cam video that covers exactly what this video covered, but for the rack mount version? There seems to be a lot of information for the console version of the series III mixer but no documentation or TH-cam videos for the rack mount version. I've spend days to get sound out of the rackmount mixer and unable to do so. Basically, all I want to do is route recorded audio from Studio One over to UC Surface then to my front of the house speakers. While I can see audio signals going into the uc surface software application on my input channels and main out, no sound is audible. It may be that my XLR jacks are defective. I don't know enough yet to route them from the 1/4" auxiliary jacks to test. My cables and speaker are perfectly fine as I can route audio from my analog mixer. Thank you....Ben
To be sure: Can I have each STEREO out from USB on each SINGLE fader, NOT on two for L/R? Meaning: can I send left AND right of EACH USB out on ONE fader?
I'd like to know aswell. Though judging by the majority of the questions asked by many in the comments, we won't get any replies to our questions. If the channel would answer potential customers questions I'd probably make a purchase. If this is the way they portray themselves by not giving a toss about peoples questions then support would probably reflect this.
@@frankymino8773 In the meantime I've come to the conclusion that there's only 1 full stereo mixer on the market: Behringer Wing. Hi, I love your videos, but have a question that I cannot seem to find the answer to. How can I run pipeline with studiolive series 3 mixer? Thank you, George
Great vids Matt, I'm very close to buying one of these mixers, and have a couple of questions. I'm mostly going to use this for drums(rehearsal and recording preprods). Is it possible to record songs(stereo tracks) on to the sd card, and playback while rehearsing drums over, and then overdub drums on say track 1 to 16? See what I mean? Erik.
I follow your steps "to the letter" up until where you say " and then if i turn my monitor volume knob up over here." I still get no volume coming out of the imac.... any help ?
Can anyone tell me the difference between Studiolive 16 and the 32SC? Also what is difference between the Studiolive 32, 32S, 32XS? I see on their website that they all are still current at the same time. Its so confusing to know which one to get!!!
The 16 has been discontinued. The models vary mainly in the number of mic inputs and faders. Unlike the 32S and 32 models, the 32SC can be rack-mounted (SC for subcompact) www.presonus.com/products/StudioLive-16/compare-models

Hi! I love your tutorials. Question: Is it possible to route input line 1 on my mixer to record on input 5, with changing the cable? I have Studiolive 32s III
Hey Tony, DAW mode is (understandably) by far most tightly integrated with Studio One, though I know it does also work reasonably well with Logic in Mackie Control Universal Mode. I'm not however aware that it works yet with Cubase I'm afraid, sorry, but that may still be under development given that the integration with Logic has already happened.
You can actually set a bus on the mixer, or create a bus in studio one. If done is studio one just create a separate output in the song set up. If on the mixer you route the tracks to a mix or aux bus then re-route in the song setup to a stereo track you created in the inputs section.

The channel could at least have the courtesy of replying. Even just a short reply just to acknowledge the person and give them some direction. No need to be arrogant towards people who may have confused one product to another. So because someone was a little ignorant in their knowledge they now don't deserve a reply?? In fact there are tons of questions being asked by many here with no replies. The unfortunate person who designed this forgot the inserts. Horrible. It looks like a video game or it looks like a toy that does everything. Series II offers more serious features.
So many mono channels. I have 1 (ONE) mono channel: kick
Problem with this Mixer is, that you have no insert effects and you also cant route one effect into another. Thats really pour Presonus.
