    Excellent video thanks!! Im working o. Starting my home studio and have been looking . What are your thoughts on recording the whole band in one room i dont think I’ll have space to build a separate drum cabin

    • @sumthinsrecording2527
      @sumthinsrecording2527 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! If you are gonna record all in one room I would say opt for DI as much as possible. So DI bass, DI guitars with amp sims, direct keys, and then overdub vocals later. Unless you want to use the drum bleed into the mics, that would be the best way to minimize it. Really appreciate the comment, hope that helps!

    What's missing is a knob per channel, which would be very useful for panning, send levels, plugin automation and so one. It would not take much space and I doubt it would increase the cost meaningfully.

    • @sumthinsrecording2527
      @sumthinsrecording2527 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are knobs up in the fat channel control are that are for gain and panning for each channel. Just a single knob that adapts to the selected channel is all. Thanks for watching!

    Hi !
    I am thinking about getting the "StudioLive 64S" for my home Studio to "Mostly" use it in "DAW Mode", may be one day I could use it for a live situation. Most videos are about 4 years old, and Since then I've seen some videos talking about, it's not great in Daw Mode.
    My guess is now, once we are in 2024, I assume that "A lot of updates have happened", I hope. So, I love Studio One, and some faders and more Preamp and I also have some outboard gears. 1- So, Is it great to use it nowadays on DAW Mode? 2- If I do use a different audio interface, will I be able to use the StudioLive in DAW Mode (Daw Controller), if I am not using it as the audio Interface? 3- If I’m recording a live band, can I use Studio One to capture the band, will the build in plugins print the effects? Thank you.

    • @sumthinsrecording2527
      @sumthinsrecording2527 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks so much for commenting! I'm not sure if you can just use the StudioLive for DAW mode if you have another interface hooked up, never explored that. I have used DAW mode a few times and do really enjoy the option to be able to mix with physical faders, so that's a plus. When you are recording a live band you can indeed capture the performance with Studio One, and you have the option to turn on and off the plugins and fx printing to the recordings.

      You can use a separate interface in DAW mode while still utilizing the motorized faders on the board. You just select the interface connected to your computer you want to use in the preferences menu in Pro Tools for example..

      Owning both, I would go for the x32. The scribble script are better, the meeters above the faders are better, and there is a dedicated knob for everything on the channel with the x32. Plus in my opinion, the x32 has better networked audio and channel routing options

    Can this Presonus StudioLive series III console be used connected to a DAW using Studio One, Pro Tools, etc. to simultaneously mix multiple tracks at once as the song is playing (real-time) when mastering as normally done in studio? Or is it just basic live mixer with only the added feature of recording the separate tracks (which is still pretty cool)?
    From what I understand the older (‘classic’) StudioLive 16.4.2 etc. models (and most other similar consoles) cannot actually be used in combination with a DAW app for the real-time simultaneous multi-track mastering and can only perform the recording stage of the process. Hence in order gain the ability to do real-time multi-track recording (using faders for at least eight individual tracks) while mastering with a DAW app requires the addition of a Presonus FaderPort 8 or 16 (or similar device). Please correct me if I am wrong or confirm if I am right. Thanks.

    • @sumthinsrecording2527
      @sumthinsrecording2527 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you are correct with the older models, but the newer series 3 models can indeed be connected to a daw. And with studio one you can use these mixers in DAW mode to turn it into a control surface to actually mix multiple tracks on the board in real time. Thanks so much for watching and for the comment Daniel!

    QUESTION: Would you know using Interface mode?
    How many outputs can you send from the StudioLive mixer all at one time in you wanted to do a mixdown using an analog mixer?
    I have the StudioLive 32S model (33 faders) and also an Allen Heath 32 channel mixer. I would like to use my Allen Heath mixer so that I can use all my vintage outboard gear doing a multi-track mixdown. Thanks.

      I have only briefly experimented with this. Pretty much tried the same kind of thing with an extra mixer I had here. As far as I know you have as many out puts as there are aux mixes on the mixer. So for the 32 I believe it is 16 outputs.

    • @uptownphotography
      @uptownphotography ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sumthinsrecording2527 Thanks for your reply.
      Yes, I pretty much thought the same thing. Which unfortunately is only good if you have a 16 track recording. I usually have closer to 24 tracks (sometimes more) so it doesn't do much good unless I stay within a 16 track recording.
      I think the only way around it would be to sub-group some outputs (which I would rather not do) or take it to the next level with using a different interface for your mix downs.
      I have actually thought of buying a separate interface so I have use the full potential of my analog board, but the ones I like are expensive. Thanks again for your reply. Means a lot.

    • @clhenthorn
      @clhenthorn ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Fograys Yes I understand Robert and thanks for your reply.
      However, I am looking for outputs from the Presonus (32S model) Mixer into an analog mixer so I can do a conventional analog mix down (like old school days) with many vintage pieces of gear going through the analog mixer.
      The Presonus 32S limits people to only analog 16 outputs, which will not be enough with a 32 track recording or even a 24 track recording.
      I haven't figured a way around it, unfortunately.
      This is a reason I am considering a separate interface for my DAW outputs. But, unfortunately that means spending a lot more money.
      Thanks again Robert for chiming in. Appreciated.

      @@clhenthorn that's a hard one then, getting 32 outputs will be difficult or at least expensive on an interface .

    What is Matrix?

    • @famiarojas
      @famiarojas ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Matrix is the setting where you have all inputs and outputs including effects channels on each individual fader. So it means you can combine all channels and outputs and send it to a particular output. We used matrix when streaming using the Studiolive so you can output the main mix and all the different channels individually including panning accordingly so you have a broader mix including ambient mics and separate effects going in the stream. Very nice feature. It's like an Aux mix but on steroids (more options).
