With that roof pitch he could probably use the rope or cable method a lot more effectively. Especially if he has a snowmobile or a four wheeler to hook the cable to (or even a truck, anything with a hitch). That looks like a lot of hard work!
You have problably never seen snow and never had to deal with it these little devices work well more than one device type is needed or handy to keep the snow at bay also snow can be light and fluffy or fairly hard to shovel after it rains ect.i am not a key board snow expert I have lived in snow country all my life shovel away I use right tool for task
