She and Toby worked together 2 years ago and this is one of the songs they wrote during that time! He had wanted it included in her "Old Enough" EP when it came out! When she told him it was not on the EP he was very upset! He has since formed his on record label. He wanted her to do the cover of "If I Were a Boy; for his new Piano diaries album so they got together again and decided to release this song as a single on his label also! At her concert in LA she performed 2 other new songs that the two of them wrote! By the way her Jazzy version is out now! It is fantastic! As an old timer I grew up listening to and loving jazz during the 1940s and 50s! Her version of this is the best Jazz song I can remember ever hearing! It's like it's another song, but with the same lyrics. Even if you don't do it for a reaction video, you owe it to yourself to spend 3 minutes watching it on your own. I guess everyone interprets this song differently!! I took it as she appears as a bad valentine to this other person but really I thought of her as the mature valentine, because she told him what she wanted in a relationship which is probably honesty the only way to intimacy but he couldn’t be honest and smiled at everything even while in pain!!! You nailed your analysis and I know we all appreciate the work you put into providing all that detail. Firstly regarding the lyrics, Angelina is known to be cryptic at times. I'm a fool to want you, bad Valentine, may not even be about romantic relationships. They could be a family member or a friend. We don't know 100%. As far as versions of bad Valentine, there are several. I would highly recommend the video that Toby Gad released from the LA concert. It is professional and the sound and video are stellar. I would also recommend the latest release which is a Piano Diaries version, and is slowed down to a piano jazz vibe. Just piano and strings. This latest version has been tracking on iTunes in the US in the top 10 of the top 100 jazz songs! In Norway, it is number one!. I hope to see you reacting to both of these as they are in stark contrast to one another. Bad Valentine was a collaborative effort in writing between Angelina, Toby, and a third writer whose name I don't remember. I would imagine Angelina provided lyrics while the others helped produce the music. I'm not sure of that but just speculation. Thanks for all and be well.

It should be noted that her and Toby wrote this song 2 years ago so I don't know if that would qualify as a new side of her. It just wasn't released until recently. Whether it's based on true events or not, it's comes to you from the perspective of probably a sophomore in high school.

Most of the versions sound like a "bad girl" vibe. But there is a newer version that is slower that has a more "sad girl" attitude, with the same words. Amazing how she can do that.

Angelina has stated that she has written about 100 songs that have yet to be released. Her songs are taken from her Journal writings. When she was 10/11 she rewrote the Lyrics to Amy Winehouse's Back to Black and Rehab to make them more age appropriate at that time. In addition, Angelina performed an unreleased original song Princess of Ruins that she has only performed in concert - if and when that is officially released it will be her 14th original. She also performed two more original unreleased songs at her Los Angeles concert: Thank You and What Am I To You?

Firstly regarding the lyrics, Angelina is known to be cryptic at times. I'm a fool to want you, bad Valentine, may not even be about romantic relationships. They could be a family member or a friend. We don't know 100%.
As far as versions of bad Valentine, there are several. I would highly recommend the video that Toby Gad released from the LA concert. It is professional and the sound and video are stellar.
I would also recommend the latest release which is a Piano Diaries version, and is slowed down to a piano jazz vibe. Just piano and strings. This latest version has been tracking on iTunes in the US in the top 10 of the top 100 jazz songs! In Norway, it is number one!. I hope to see you reacting to both of these as they are in stark contrast to one another.
Bad Valentine was a collaborative effort in writing between Angelina, Toby, and a third writer whose name I don't remember. I would imagine Angelina provided lyrics while the others helped produce the music. I'm not sure of that but just speculation. Thanks for all and be well.

Angelina is sweet - but you don't want to mess with her - she is the bad valentine - and has stated that this is her break-up song.
It's an open interpretation... Your interpretation depends on how you feel or on how you are connecting to the song. This could be about lovers, friends, family and so on... So there's basically no wrong answer here.🙂
It should be noted that her and Toby wrote this song 2 years ago so I don't know if that would qualify as a new side of her. It just wasn't released until recently. Whether it's based on true events or not, it's comes to you from the perspective of probably a sophomore in high school.

❤. Yeah it seems its about both here to me. She is bad, clearly doesn't want him, why not drop him before this. But I think if you have to think like her in this song, it sounds like she would want help being held accountable in life, and he ain't doing it. But she knows she's bad, reflecting, she was probably with him just to not be alone. Yes she did "officially" say it was about someone. I assume she's being a goober. Adding to the lore. One thing I can picture for sure, Angie wanting to be great, wanting those around her to hold her accountable to being a good, and great, person.
