Even though it was very frustrating, I have learned to take deep breath’s in these situations and try to make the best of it. I will never let someone treat me wrong, but instead of chewing them out, I try if possible to do my best to confidently and properly educate them on how I need to be treated and helped. All the comments saying he was rude and creepy I think you should give this man the benefit of the doubt a bit more. He obviously hasn't helped a blind person into his car before and English obviously isn't his first language which you can tell he struggles with but is trying to make an effort to understand everything joyce is saying. It's good that he respected joyce when she said don't touch me and he realised straight away it wasn't the right thing to do. Everyone at some point in their life comes across another individual where there is that language barrier and it's always tricky to communicate. I'm sure for blind people it can be even trickier but he still tried his best to keep conversation to try make joyce comfortable. Hopefully he learns a little at least from this situation but the fact that he didn't know or doesn't understand doesn't make him rude or creepy.

yes he didn't understand English very well, and yes he has NO proper AMERICAN culture awareness. But I think he was just trying to guide her to the door. I have a blind guy come into my work every now and then, and when we were first meeting i had NO idea if i was supposed to gently brush his shoulder to let him know where I was, or to touch his wrist to guide him to a particular material that was stacked next to 30 other ones so he could feel for the right material.
It was a LEARNING experience and everyone is different. Im sure Joy has her own way of dealing with being touched, especially being a female and being blind. (The blind person I help is a guy). But before we know each other? It was fricken terrifying, you just want to help but end up doing the wrong thing.

Thank you, I agree. I think we all need to learn how to look beyond our own situation to see others in need. Today people are so consumed with their own little world, I don’t think people are trying to be intentionally rude, just not aware.

Joy Ross you are absolutely right! It’s rush rush rush, mixed in with the fear of stepping out of their own comfort zone! That’s why I feel it should be taught in schools. Mandatory lessons on ALS and properly helping someone who can’t see! Then maybe caring would be apart of more people’s everyday life! You are so amazing for being so strong and dealing with such an assortment of people every single day, and handling it like a champ. Being forced to see the side of people that most of us don’t even realize exist, would make me crumble into pieces! You’re amazing ❤️

Educating about limitations, disabilities and/or differences is always a on going chore/job. I have a seizure detection service dog. As a traveling RN, I’ve come to learn so much about cultural differences and how some communities, societies and countries have never interacted with people who have differences or service/guide dogs. I’m really glad you were so patient and calm when educating him. Too many of us become overly confrontational and loose a valuable moment to teach. I’m sure what you said will resonate with him as he processes it. I know I learn something new about guide dogs every time I watch one of your videos. Guide dogs are similar yet so very different than service dogs. Many don’t understand but I find most want to learn. Those who don’t, I just hope they heard something and enjoy the rest of my day.☺️
    Thank you. 🐾❤️🐾

A lot of people are hating on this driver, but I don't see why. Not a lot of people know how to deal with a situation like this, and it seems like english wasn't his strong suit. He was very receptive to the advice she gave him and he was apologetic for not handling it properly. He is not that bad at the end of the day. You learn from your mistakes, he is human too.

The Uber driver clearly didn’t understand English too well and there’s an obvious barrier with regards to culture which I would think people would understand. I don’t think he handled it as well as he could’ve but people in the comments gotta chill it wasn’t THAT bad.

Well, that was hard to experience. "I can't see, so I don't..." - "Come on in." In your position when he was honking at you and just didn't even listen, I already would have quit. Not seeing anything, not having someone listening and then just being touched would creep the hell out of me. Absolutely appreciate your patience in explaining though.
