How do you install an autocall A4098-9755 By Autocall More specifically I am wondering how to install this in existing Duct work Supply and returns? Specifically, I am wondering if you extend their airflow tubes through the opposite sides? As you did with the model in your video. Also, I noticed that you only extended one airflow tube through the width of the duct work, the one with the holes but not the other...Why?
Hi sorry for the late response hopefully you were able to get an answer for this if this was urgent. To answer your questions, first off I have not installed that particular brand but they are all pretty similar. I always recommend installing any equipment per manufacturer’s instructions. There are two tubes. A test tube and an exhaust tube. The test tube should always be before the exhaust tube and holes should be facing against the airflow so air can go in the tube with the holes. The small pipe that comes with the equipment is the exhaust tube so the air that goes in the device can be exhausted out. Some brands say the tube should go through and some say you can stop two inches before the duct. It depends on the length of the test tube, if it’s too long it can break from the housing. So the smaller one doesn’t need to be extended because it’s just an exhaust tube. The point of this device is to get a test sample of the air to go inside the sealed enclosure which has a smoke sensor and then the air gets exhausted out by another tube being the smaller one. There’s no pumps involved so it’s important to install the tubes correctly.
Hey what’s going on. I always appreciate when people suggest videos. I will put this on my list. I’ll see if I can work on a video this week and have it uploaded this weekend. Subscribe for updates and such. Much appreciated
@@michaelhinchey sorry for the late response. It’s kind of a “feel” thing if you can tell there’s a lot of weight on it and it’s sagging I would go through the whole thing
@@Truthh4040 fortunately I’m not an electrician and never really looking into the wiring diagram. I’m sure I can figure it out and maybe post a video and share to you
@@kennylopez8965 yes of course, so it can actually function. Proper install is also important for it to function properly. Any installation process of a life safety device should be important.
I think that’s a very ignorant comment to say it’s a “let down”. Im a sheetmetal mechanical not an electrician. This is as far as a sheetmetal mechanic goes as to installing one of these.
I use your video to help my students understand the concept of a duct detector. Thank You
I’m glad my experience is getting shared with future mechanics thank you for watching and sharing my videos!
Thanks bro. I’m an electrician and for some reason I have to put a bunch of these in on a job. Very simple easy to understand
Tends to be on many Electrictians contracts.
Very good video. Learned a lot.

Electrician have to instal this?
Typically in a commercial contract we own installing the duct smoke detector but the electrician provides the detectors and also wires it as well.
Can we see how to wire this with 120 volts
