      Squid fishing on our side of the bay gets going when the weather cools and we get a few westerly winds. Castnet Hays at low tide. Often get a few mullet with the prawns.

    Hi mate, how do you avoid snag from those rocks?

    • @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing
      @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      throw either side or modify your weight on the jig, make it a little lighter so that it sinks slowly. Looking at the area on a dead low tide also helps understand how you should retrieve.

    Hi mate, what is the size of your jig and what is awesome to catch a squid on the beach :D. Never thought they like that habitat.

    • @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing
      @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      prefer the 3.0 and there is shallow reef and weed just off the beach.

      Thanks, I am using the 2.5 and only small squids like it, will upgrade and see how it go :D

    I'll have to give this a go. Once I get a decent break from work and am mobile again, I'll get back down to The Bay.

    Great vids, mate!
    I'm recently following your map to explore fishing spots in Brisbane. Also, I got a question, is it possible to catch squid on a low tide at same location?

    I'll be heading up your way for a bit of fishing soon. I'm keen to have a fish for squid while I'm there. We don't have squid in the Byron Bay / Ballina area that I know of. Would you be so kind to give me some details on the rod you used in your video. It looks like what I need. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks Wayne and tight lines M8.

      Gregory Baillie it’s called a rovex squid wrangler. Check eBay for price. Fairly cheap.

      There will be squid in your area, they are everywhere! Try weedy patches and rockwalls.

    Gday mate is the cooler weather better for the squid?

    • @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing
      @Wayne.Groomes.Fishing  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The squid are in different parts of Moreton Bay all year round. They find their way to the shore line around Manly to the Sunny coast in the winter due to the western breezes. It clears the water up and thats what they like.

    did you kill it with a swift bare handed strike to the eye area??? (that's kinda badass :P)
