Bought the Zfx specifically as a street photography body, to replace a Sigma fp which i absolutely adore for that role, but which has one big flaw - a very noticable rolling shutter (horrible for night time street photos under street lamps). You need to blindly fish for the button under your cheek (because of the compactness of the body) while keeping the viewfinder to your eye. That one should be easy for Nikon to fix, at least, if anyone actually reports it (i guess the target market for the camera is not very likely to use the viewfinder only mode). The third one is sort of weird, and i was only able to reproduce it twice, and then never again - when assigning AF-ON to the AE/AF-L button, the camera got stuck with AF on twice on me. As in, letting go of the button, pressing it again, changing AF modes - whatever i'd do, it'd continue focusing. As if my finger was on the AF-ON button that whole time. @@HudsonHenryPhoto thanks for the suggestion, I'm trying to use a smaller and compact powerbank (5000/10000mah) which I might put it on top of the zfc with a powerbank cold shoe holder.
Two questions: • Is there a way to set a minimum shutter speed when in aperture priority mode? • does apply settings to live view (d7) works in shutter priority mode, because I'm not getting the actual exposure in live view when in shutter priority mode.
Yes, it should be active (d7) in shutter priority. If you underexpose, the screen should go dark. Absolutely. The key to having a minimum shutter speed in aperture priority is running Auto ISO with boundaries set. Before the camera lets you get into trouble with shutter speed it starts ramping ISO. Your shutter speed will only drop below hand holdable when the ISO hits the max you have set in the Auto ISO settings. If you want control of both Aperture and ISO, it's always a click to M away. M plus auto ISO is more and more becoming my default. You just have to remember to keep watching that your ISO is in bounds.
@@HudsonHenryPhoto yes, that's what I thought, but mine only works on all modes accept in shutter priority mode - the image will be bright even in 4k shutter speed in low light 🥴
@@transuong7623 I'm not sure, but lightroom classic certainly does and we all should be shooting RAW anyway to take advantage of future processing enhancements. Like fuji, nikon embeds the chosen jpeg processing settings into the raw data so that a sophisticated editor like Lightroom Classic can read and display the raw file like the jpeg in camera. You just need to select camera profile in the preset preferences. The difference is that you still have the original raw data to reinterpret or edit any way you want decades from now. Film gain is a click and slider drag in post. :)
No no the shutter dial in the ZFc is cute, but it's much more powerful to leave it in the 1/3 stop positron and use the command dial instead. Not only do you get 1/3 stop precision, with extended shutter speeds activated in the custom setting menu you also get up to 900 second exposures. 30 seconds without.
@@HudsonHenryPhoto That is great news...!! One item I will be curious to hear your opinion about is how distracting the flashing lines will be when you release the shutter if you are in total silent mode. I think a much better option to "show" you actuated the shutter is to make the focus indicator turn from green to blue since the focus indicator is always in your direct field of view. If you are burst shooting it could just stay blue. if you are attempting to fire the shutter and you loose focus it could either flash blue or go back to red if you are in the mode which allows you to take a photo regardless if you are in focus or not. what is are thoughts on that...? (I probably should have posted this on your Z9 video I guess)
I'll have to play with the display options for capture indication. I know there are several. I'll include thoughts on that when I get some time with it. :)
I just bought a Zfc because I’m on a “back to basics” kick and have been buying retro cameras like I learned on(KM/K1000). I love having the dials up top and the flip out screen.
Does ZFC have film grain like Fuji?
@@transuong7623 I'm not sure, but lightroom classic certainly does and we all should be shooting RAW anyway to take advantage of future processing enhancements. Like fuji, nikon embeds the chosen jpeg processing settings into the raw data so that a sophisticated editor like Lightroom Classic can read and display the raw file like the jpeg in camera. You just need to select camera profile in the preset preferences. The difference is that you still have the original raw data to reinterpret or edit any way you want decades from now. Film gain is a click and slider drag in post. :)
Hallo how to set nikon z fc to 10 second shutter speed for long exposure.
Go to either manual or Shutter priority mode and spin the shutter dial back to 10s. :-)
shutter dial rotates up to 4 seconds. Then it switches to bulb mode.
I got it now. Thank you so much.
Which tripod is that ?
The tabletop one? This guy: amzn.to/3GhusBB
Have you got your production Z9 yet....??
Yeah it's waiting in Portland when I get home from this family trip to Baja.
There's no language setting?
It's in the setup menu.
I just bought a Zfc because I’m on a “back to basics” kick and have been buying retro cameras like I learned on(KM/K1000). I love having the dials up top and the flip out screen.
Main reason was the weight though… I have a D810 and it is ridiculously heavy to carry around all day. Awesome camera but certainly not good for taking places with me without regretting it.
Watching the video to get it all set up now
