BPS Mode: Left and Right move the Tetrimino. Down rotates the Tetrimino clockwise. A drops the Tetrimino. Select hides/shows the next Tetrimino. Start pauses the game. Some PC games use the Up key to drop the Tetrimino, leaving one button to rotate it clockwise and another button to rotate it counter-clockwise. In some other versions, the Down key helps you lower the Tetrimino faster without dropping it.
I do have to say people in Japan got the raw end of the stick when it came to Tetris on the NES although I guess they wouldn't of known that at the time.
@@cyceans Okay so my original post was nine years ago and back then what I was trying to say was that it wasn’t a bad game but I still believe the western NES version is better because of the controls. Also, not having a soft drop ability can be a bit of a pain.
this was technically a version made without the consent of Russia as they didnt give the rights to video game ports when they first made the deal..crazy
Yeah it’s way too easy to confuse yourself overtimes and make those same mistakes again and again like i do. It’s painful that they swapped button for down & rotate in reverse.
Better is hard im have placed and some time im confused but im like it any way but the réal tetris teengen is the best compared the official by stolen nintendo
Once you get the hang of the controls this really isn’t that bad of a port. It’s a fun and addicting time waster that I don’t mind adding to the collection.
+Emilio “OmegaKirby64” Nardone And if it wasn't bad enough, you have to press Down on the d-pad to rotate, and A to drop. One of the versions on my 260-in-1 fixes that though. The one with the Hudson's Adventure Island music playing in the game selection.
Hard drop was actually standard in early home computer versions, including the first western release, the DOS version by Spectrum HoloByte. It was the arcade versions by Atari Games and Sega that gave us soft drop, which Nintendo used for their NES and Game Boy versions, the latter of which is still the best selling version of all time.

This version about to get attention again thanks to its presence in the Tetris movie.
It did and it's not too bad.

Love how the NES had three versions of Tetris, you weren't limited by ports.

fyi this game is why our tetris came to be also they got tetris 2 so they good
*Famicom
@@RWL2012 Well yes but it’s still essentially their version of the NES.
It was good enough to sell millions of copies when first released so...

I want this version of Tetris once I get a Famicom.
Oh my gosh 😮😂! It is a perfect day today 😊💝.
The blips and boops is really pleasant sounding to the ears. Although, this version came out first before the US version.

I didn't expect to see the drop mechanics in old tetris game.
Hard drop has always existed since the E60 version. I guess Nintendo ditched it.
The ultimate clear theme from this game is a minor scale arrangement of the clear theme from Tengen Tetris
This version differs from the US version, and was even made before the US version came out!
this was technically a version made without the consent of Russia as they didnt give the rights to video game ports when they first made the deal..crazy
The Game Boy version resembles the Famicom version. I never knew.
Because they both was developed by BPS, but GameBoy version was published by Nintendo.
This version uses d-pad down to rotate and A button to drop... Really sucks....
what a piece of trash

Fantastic playtrough considering the awfull controls.
Amazing skills!
Now I know where the ending from Super Mario World came from...

Technotris is a rapper music.

Omg i think you are so good reflex and construction skill.
Anyway you play nice :D

The controls are really weird here.
It sounds like the nes b type
Tengens version is way better
I just wished it would have the gameplay center screen instead of all the way to the left. I do like the Technotris theme here though. It kicks ass.
Pretty ass controls but otherwise harmless game
what the heck is that 😐
worst tetris version ever

I played Japanese edition first, later bought NES (U.S.) edition... Not bad, but the music was different!
The ending is great, it’s not a bad game but the reversed controls for down & rotate becomes the bottleneck for this game.
