If you like stronger coffee, you should use fine grind, and even espresso grind... you should not wait to press, or hold for 1 minute, as that causes the acidic flavor to come out... just press slower... also I will point out that you filled the Aeropress upside down... this is based on my experience. Also get a metal mesh filter, so you get the oils from the coffee, and you will have an exceptional coffee...

That's the way to do it when you're making "full immersion" coffee (French Press style) as opposed to making espresso.

The temperature of the drink has an effect on taste. ( the temp for an Aeropress brew is much lower than Chemex) How did you account for that?

Medium grind(for me 5.6 out of 10 from my grinder)

I can't believe what you just did. Why did you compare a full brewed coffee from chemex to a DILUTED coffee from the aeropress, even though you could have done a full brew from the aeropress to have a fair comparison? When you dilute the coffee coming from the aeropress, the coffee becomes a lot sweeter and the difference between a full brew and semi brew diluted is amusing. That's just not fair

Best situation would be all the coffee tasters try the coffee within minutes of each other in the same place (coffee room) but if you can't do that at the very least you should use the Same color and shape of cup. Aeropress didn't win statistically. Still can determine if it's not 50/50. So, with that few people tasting, you would need 10 tasters out of 12 to prefer Aeropress over Chemex to get a standard p < 0.05 level. Or, to put it a different way, if 5 folks preferred Chemex, then you would need 15 other folks to prefer Aeropress reach the p < 0.05 level (so that would be a total of 20 tasters). If there is a preference, it is probably small, and you would need to have a lot of tasters to find it. So, we didn't really learn anyway from this video....

If two people always agree, there isn't a use for one of the people!
I think there could be a round two, with a tweaked ratio for the chemex
For 8 oz, try approx 14 g grinds with approx 280 g water, same bloom time, use a goose neck to be able to pour just little bits and you won't get that watered down effect
Double for a bigger brew, but only if your cup can fit it

You did not do a fair comparison because it is not the product that won. It is the brewing method. How can infusion drip surpass the extraction of infusion and pressure. Also, your coffee to water ratios were off. For fun, it's ok. Have fun. I bet on the aeropress.

You can make aeropress vs v60

Talal Aljabri v60 is pretty much the same as chemex. There both a pour over method compares to the pressure method of the aero press.

Vlog Central this is true but chemex has way way thicker filters so it steals a bit more body from the cup

Wesley McElheney learn something new everyday :-) I thoroughly enjoy using my aeropress it’s my go to method when I’m away from home and at work. Makes a great cup of coffee at the office.

Vlog Central I swear V60 and Chemex are a big big difference. personally I don’t like the Chemex but I love the V60

big different indeed .... i actually think Chemex make steady good coffee and hard to fuck up... V60 is very varied and harder to control result... if you like cleaner cup lighter body go with Chemex.. but you can also achieve that with V60 too
