I am an Aussie expat living in the UK. I spent most of my life driving trucks in Oz, from the 70's to 2004. I mostly did the triangle, Bris, Syd, Mel, with the odd run to Adelaide and Perth. I was unable to transfer my MC licence for a Class 1 in the UK without having to do a test. Love your videos. You bring back a lot of familiar places to mind. I remember being stuck in Boggabilla for 3 days due to floods and a few of us headed down to The Wobbly Boot Hotel and drank the place dry. Ahh! The memories.
@youngbritishoutbacktrucker I miss it a lot. I am 68. I now work as a night shift supervisor for National Express at Stansted Airport. Completely different to what I used to do.
The Wobbly Boot is still there. My son worked at Moree and we'd regularly make the trip down from Brisbane. Always had a chuckle at that pub name. Much more original that the "Royal" or "Railway".
Great video man. It looks like there's quite a bit to learn when it comes to tipping, it's not as simple as clicking a button and driving away 😅 That's cool that your boss didn't seem to mind you filming, you know you can make videos and not have to worry about if they care or not.
From driving a tesco van to this really impressed with this lad moved on to better things hopefully see you again soon lad quality but what is the capital of the world 😂
Enjoy these insights into the life of a trucker. I came over to Oz in 2006 and got my licence but ended up in the mines out west. It has been a good gig but I think I would have really enjoyed trucking for a few years at least.
I miss Australia so much. You're so lucky to be out there now. Get yourself sponsored and get your permanent residency. I regret it that I didn't after 5 years out there. The UK is not a nice place to be now. Well, especially London....
Thanks for watching mate, how is trucking the States, I remember being in-between New York and Boston in Massachusetts and saw a big old Kenworth blowing its stacks off out there!
A awful lot of expensive gear there fin that your responsible for it’s not like the weak expensive mercs we get over here at least you’ve got a bit more power under your right foot , slow and steady is the order of the day good luck with your Aussie adventure fin 👏👏👏
Your boss seems a proper hands on guy. Did it seem like information overload while you were tipping there? Merc looks a bit a bit of a beast. All the best mate
Thanks you for your input, unfortunately you are incorrect, I do not need to display my road train signs at the front. Please refer to NHVR VSG to check for yourself. Despite it being a type 1 road train, as it’s just less than 30 metres I am not legally required to show long vehicle signs at the front, just at the rear. The law dictates you need a rear sign if between 22-30 metres. Thank you for concern but I am up to date and on to the legislation as is the operations manager and the whole fleet on the legalities and regulations.
I use a Garmin dezlCam when I need to plan a truck route - put in my length, weight, height etc and so far it hasn't hosed me over with wrong directions... so far.
Did plenty miles from Brissie to Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide and as far north as Cairns. It’s a great place to be on the roads, miss it but better family time now….keep up the good vids. Was it out at Beef City the drop off?
She looks like a beast. Dam fine combination. Modern and up to date. Mind her. We can't give you any criticism, constructive or not . Especially since I'm driving a CF Daf rigid in litte old Ireland 🇮🇪. Was wondering where you went to. I know now you changed jobs. Looks like a decent boss. Keep it safe and we'll catch you on the next one.
I'm no expert, but I drive A doubles on the south coast, if you're dropping your splitting the set up yourself, before you pull away, leave a marker on the ground next to the rear most drivers side A trailer tyre. Makes it a heap easier to put it back together, you just aim to put A trailer tyre back on that mark and you know you'll be pretty close.
Hi Fin, just found your videos and loving them. I've been involved in logistics and many other industries most of my life and although retired now often feel I should go back and do some driving part time. Its great to see a young guy like yourself making a new life for himself and most of all one that wants to work hard to get where he is going. I have subscribed and liked all your videos and look forward to following your journey. If I was 50 years younger I would be right beside you. Good luck young man.
Thank you Fraser. I’m glad you enjoy my videos. I appreciate the kind words and encouragement as driving can be hard and sometimes a bit lonely, but it makes up for it on the good days! New video out soon keep a watch and keep safe out there.
That's a bit different to a rainy morning on the M62 ....Sitting here at Dubbo with a load for Innisfail, then back load for Tasmania. Might see you about some time..
Nice video Fin. Enjoyed catching up with what you're up to, glad you're still enjoying it 3k on one run you put us lads back home on the milk to shame 😂
Cheers Justin! It’s a fair big run, I’m up in far North Queensland at the moment on the canola run, another big one. Glad you like it, and hope you and all the fellas on the milk are well.

Hi , what visa do you require? It's all rather bewildering when I search on the Oz government website, can't seem to find a clear path to begin the process?? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for watching. It feels similar to when you go from Class 2 to Class 1, a lot to learn at first but you suddenly just start feeling like it all clicks into place.
Hey mate been driving trucks 23 years in Aus and I’ll say mate you’re doing a bloody good job. Be proud of yourself mate. I agree the Actros are nice 👍
If i was 10 years younger I'd be doing the same. Hope you're enjoying life out in the outback. The only problem I have with OZ is the amount of wildlife that can kill you just by looking at you...
I’ve driven both, I know what I prefer and it’s comfort and technology of a bit of extra pulling power;) thanks for watching mate, and good job with the roundabout.

Matey is it a auto or manual?
Why did u move to Australia from UK ?
Do you get any insects get into your truck?! The idea of a camel spider or something crawling over my dash while driving along haunts me 😂

All comes down to weights mate 6 singles allow 20ton over the tri. Where having duels on a tri axle allows 22.0 ton..
