The thing about that "I am that guy moment..." Sure, it's a great one-liner, but the scene is so much more than that. Amos Burton, the cold-blooded killer, was able to recognise that for Prax, to kill Strickland, a guy that was in sore need of killing, would scar him forever. He was able to recognise this, and saved his friend in more ways than one. We've seen many times how straight-forward, bare-bones kind of thinker he was, so that he was able to not only see the danger but able to find a way to solve it so cleanly is nothing short of amazing. Oh, and you better believe that as soon as you started watching this show, EVERYONE was waiting for you to get to this moment.

Pretty much any time a scene seems pointless and not really necessary for the story at that moment, it is best to pay close attention to that "throwaway" scene and keep it in your memory bank. The first shot of the bird hovering at Julie's window....the "hamster" on the wheel in her apt....Diogo stealing water early on....and, of course, Bobbie arm wrestling her power suit, plus many more.

The line "I am that guy." is one of the most obvious/anticipated lines in the show. That it still manages to hit as hard as it does is a tribute to the writing and performances. Watch for Wes's slight change in posture as the door closes - switching from "best friend in the whole world" to the killer saving that friend from having to become a killer himself.

I don't know how many times I've gone back and watched the "I am that guy" scene, not only for Amos' shooting of Strickland but for Amos' action of pulling Prax back from the precipice of destroying his soul if he pulled that trigger. Amos' eyes when he's told that he's Prax's "best friend in the whole world" is him realizing that he's not the monster that he thinks he is.

Season 4 was an absolutely necessary story that sets up how profoundly the events of this season changes *everything* . It's actually a really good story. It's just not *as good* as the seasons on either side of it.
I've always liked how Prax made no excuses when Mei asked why he didn't come for her. To a kid her age there's nothing a daddy can't do so there is no excuse. Even though we all knew " I am that guy" was coming up, it is still totally satisfying

There's been a lot of rumors coming up about The Expanse recently. The creators haven't given up and want to finish, it's just a matter of having Amazon do something with the IP or letting the rights go.
The thing about the "I am that guy" line is that everyone knows it's coming, and it's still so satisfying when he says it. Knwoing it's coming may even make it better than if it were a surprise. Just one of the best momemts in the show.
That music at the end, the peaceful but lined with tension feeling, it smashes me every time. And Wes is such an amazing actor, I cannot wait for you to see more of the journey of Amos!

I made a list of my Top 10. Strangely out of 6 seasons IFF is not there. Immolation is my 2nd favourite. Yet I seem to have watched and quoted it the most. I think I have to watch my favourite again without waiting for Warp Reactor. I think my ranking is based not only objectively on the story but my own personal experience at the time it came out (But the 4 you mentioned are in my Top 5)
We've all been waiting for _you_ to get _here._ We can be sure the pods would not be going to Earth because we already know Mao, Errinwright, and Nguyen would never do that. I think the sailor handed Cotyar the gun so that he could shoot her. A little thing: When Prax discovered Mei was nearby, he passed a picture on the window she had drawn of him. "I am that guy" has got to be the most predicted dialog ever on television. Predictability is usually a sign of bad writing, but in this case the writers had us in such high anticipation, we'd have been disappointed if he hadn't said it. "My best friend in the whole world" and "I am that guy" was an effective one--two punch to the feelz. This was the culmination of so many moments of effective face acting that Wes has given over several episodes. "I am that guy" is so good that there is a video compilation of reactors reacting to that scene. It's so good that there is a video of the _cast_ reacting to their first viewing of that scene. You noted that Proto-Katoa had not been fully transformed (because Strickland was right about the inhibiting effect of his genetic deficiency). When she shot the brain stem, blood splattered...that part was still human. There is friendly discussion in the fan community about whether Proto-Katoa paused because the Belter child in it was awed by being out on the open surface (I think the writers are also of this opinion), or because it received the "Up" signal from the Protomolecule mother lode on Venus.

Me and my friend were screaming at the screen when Amos said the thing. That scene is perfection. But I love that you teared up when Prax called Amos his best friend, I had a similar response. Most people support the idea that a criminal is innocent until proven guilty. Some will at least be willing to allow a villain to have a fair trial prior to his execution. Nobody expects or wants anything for Dr. Strickland other than a bullet to the head immediately upon being apprehended. Of course, we've seen what Dr. Strickland did to innocent children, so we know he is guilty as fuck, and deserving of nothiing else but the death penalty, although a few people might have preferred a slower and more painful death for him. It is common to praise the acting for all of the heroic characters in The Expanse, but let's give it up now for Ted Atherton's protrayal of Dr. Strickland. He really made everybody despise him and want him dead. A lot had to do with how his character was written and the actions attributed to that character, but, still, an actor had to step up and bring that mad scientist doc to life for us to hate without making him into a cartoon villain.
For what it's worth, the series gets even better. And to your observation (and you are in very good company with your fellow Amos-lovers) there's a beauty to Amos, which nicely juxtaposes his darker side; Wes plays him perfectly, and just keeps on going. :)

Well Mr Warp, an amazing reaction and analysis to an amazing episode! This is by far my favorite episode and favorite moment in all television. I give " I am that guy!" it's recognition as being nothing but awesome! But that's not the moment that's my favorite. Mine is " You're not that.. you're not that..." 😭 Amos told Prax a few episodes back that he didn't know crap about parenting. All he knew was that a kid needs at least one person not to give up on them. A child's innocents is Amos's Holy Grail. He cherish that above all. When Prax told Mea that Amos was his best friend in the whole world and could she stay with him. Amos knew Prax was going to do a necessary evil to end Strickland's life. Amos knew if Prax did this it would change him forever. Amos couldn't allow him to go through with this. So our beloved damaged reluctant hero took Prax's place to save his best friends soul. 😭 Don't worry... we all cried. Hell I cry every damn time I see this scene! Looking forward to the next one!
Agree 100%. It annoys me whenever I read a comment from a fan saying "best sci-fi show ever", or, worse than that, "best sci-fi in the last decade". It's the best TV show, and maybe when you look at the story arc for the first three seasons as akin to a long movie, the best movie, ever. The Expanse is just so incredicbly smart. I don't watch TV shows anymore. They are as exciting as watching a test pattern on the screen after watching The Expanse.

I love the subtlety of Amos' reaction to Prax's mbfitww line - and the production subtlety. Lesser shows would have had cut to an explicit close-up reaction shot. The airlock scene was originally written, and takes were shot I believe, with Amos having more of an extended monologue to persuade Prax down from the ledge. Wes Chatham said that he could do it with so much less, and that it would work better. Four words, repeated twice, that delivery, and again the subtle face and gesture acting. Incredible. I must confess my first reaction to it was a slight distaste, borne out of my dislike of the glorification of violence. But there are so many layers underneath that. I quickly changed my mind. We've seen Amos becoming a little more Prax-like and Prax becoming a little more Amos-like, and we've seen hints of Amos sadness about the latter. Amos is already tarnished and "broken". He saves Prax from that tipping point.
One of the best moments in the series - I am that guy - and after this you can recommend the Ty & That Guy Podcast without it being a spoiler. This is the show were Wes Chatham and Ty Franck discuss The Expanse, bring in other cast members as guests and go into the other sci-fi that provided inspiration for the series, and a lot more. Of course their show is full of spoilers if you watch any of their podcasts other than ones specifically about episodes you've already seen.

I've seen only a couple other reaction channels that show the emotion you show. In the beginning when Bobby takes out the 4 redshirts, she locks on to them, she can choose to aim manually, or she can tell the suit to do the shooting and it will take over. Kinda like VATS in fallout

Imagine being the the writer's room when they put together the "I am that guy." scene, and maybe realizing how well that scene would flow. Imagine being the actors handed the pages for that scene and maybe realizing how solid it's going to be. Imagine being the director watching it unfold in front of you. That had to be a good week.
The scene didn't play out exactly as written. From what I understand there were the basic takes of the original script and then some takes when Wes cut down his dialog to the absolute bare minimum. Amos had a longer monologue to try to talk Prax down originally.
Wes Chatham 100% crushed his role as Amos, and yes, that scene. Possibly the most telegraphed line in televison history but still so satisfying. Possibly my favorite episode of the entire series, but definitely top 3. Bibbys call backs to Ganymede and even to arm wrestling her armor. Cotyar's sacrifice and Chrisjen's reaction, Prax and Mei's reunion, Errinwright's come uppance. And then the cliffhanger ending...chef's kiss. All of season 3, really. This show just keeps ramping up without ever jumping the shark. After you've finished I highly recommend reading the last 3 books. The overall story arc is beautiful and stunning, and they absolutely nail the ending.
And now you know why the official Expanse podcast is called, "Ty and That Guy"! lol Btw, I wouldn't say The Expanse is unlike anything else. I put it clearly in the same category as New Battlestar and Babylon 5. You would really like both of those if you haven't seen them yet.
I agree with your sentiment at the end. Definitely feel a lot better after watching this episode, everytime. It's a double edged sword though, because I know we aren't going to get something as good as The Expanse for a long time. Our entertainment seems to peak every 10-15 years roughly. Bittersweet.
I watched this on Patreon and then came back and rewatched this on TH-cam twice because it's such a good episode. And there's the lines that we all love and remember like "I am that guy." And "This is Amos. He's my best friend in the whole world." But some honorable mentions: Holden spotting Mao on the monitor and going "There's someone here that might know. Let me go ask." So good. Bobby telling Chrissy "Ma'am, for the first time in your life, please just SHUT THE FUCK UP." Always reminds me of that great quote. Orders from officers not in the field, aren't worth shit. The poor sailor on the Agatha King "I don't even know what we're fighting for." She's only in it for a short period but she's so good. Erinwright ignoring the Secretary General and speaking straight to Anna and the SG clearly annoyed that his explanation is aimed at Anna. Not him. Because he's not really there. He's so perfectly called out. "He's just parroting you because you were the last person he talked to." A man so easily swayed that he just mimics the ideals and values of the last person in the room. You can tell that Erinwright found him useful, but HATED him for being such a spineless leader.

Great reaction. The pick moment for me here is precisely when Prax says the line and Amos takes Mei's hand and says "Hello"; more than the "I am that guy" moment (even being this a strong moment too). That moment for me is an amazing character development and writing, in a perfect, subtle and well delivered performance. You mentioned "redemption", and thinking about that, now I think that name maybe suits better to this episode, because most of the characters had his own redemption moment: Holden saving Mai for chosing her above another distress call, Naomi making a decision but only with the crew consent, Bobby chasing and beating the same kind of "thing" that killed her team and saving her new team, Alex trying to save at all cost Mars and his family too, and Amos of course, but in his case is more than just a redemption moment, I think.
Thing about Jim is that he thought he was doing the right thing when he sent that message for everyone to see implying that Mars was responsible for Eros, so he blames himself for everything that has happened since. It makes him feel responsible for fixing it in whatever way he can. That’s his motivation. Add to that that he has created a family for himself that he feels he must protect in the world he feels he helped create, a world of war, and that he came to think of Prax, and therefore Mei, as part of that family adds to the character arc. Personally, I think The Expanse is the best science fiction show of all time.
"That fast?" - Don't forget: The Protomolecule on The Agatha King came from a Hybrid. It already had an understanding of the human body, so it could get straight to, spreading itself between crew as quickly as possible.
I really hope someone who watches your channel has personal contacts to one of the people involved in the show, and can link them to your channel, because I think they would be really proud to see how you reacted to their work.
This is my second favourite episode ever of The Expanse. Even better with a double bill with Triple Point. But it has the best scene IMO in the entire series based on three lines 1. “ no seriously, shut up”- the moment Strickland realised there’s a new player and the dread kicks in 2. “He’s my best friend in the whole world” - the look on Amos’ face. Panic? Shock? Either way he knows there’s so much more on him now to protect Prax which leads to… “I am that Guy”. The emphasis on AM. Strickland knew he was fuct the moment those doors shut and he had Amos’ back to him. And Amos was able to do that job and not let his best friend in the whole world lose his humanity We’ve had a noir/ detective show, we’ve just finished a political thriller. What’s next??? 👻

I have been blessed to have a friend tell me that in a dark moment in my life. It saved me from making a point of no return decision, and that friend is still One of my best friends. Period, full stop. Everyone needs an Amos to pull them back from the brink sometimes. And sometimes everyone needs a little Holden le Paladin to make them better too.

Alex can’t change who he is. He loves flying in space. It’s his THING. He loves his family, but he is who he is. He thought it would change when he was out of the service, but he was just wrong. It happens. I’m not absolving him, but people have flaws, and being in love with flying is his.
And we get the kind of ending that's usual for the Expanse, even though this is the ending of the second book: The "What the actual fuck just happened?!" ending.
This show is so amazing. There are a few minor things and one storyline I dislike, otherwise this would have been the best Scify show of all time. Great reaction.
Oh, good. You have made it through the slow part of Season 3. Don't worry, things will move a lot faster from now on. Also; to all the writers and showrunners out there: THAT's how you write characters and conclude their arcs! Of course Amos' story is not over yet, but his journey from a Brute who struggled to understand his own identity and had to look to others to separate right from wrong, to a character who understands what he is capable off and now has the wisdom to pick the right side without having to rely on others to shows him the way, is complete.
I've been trying to find something a bit more definative (one of my failings as a scholar was that I knew stuff, but not where I knew the stuff from), but Cotyar's ending is reminiscent of the story of Pancho Villa's death. It is widely reported that his last words were (admittedly probably in Spanish) "don't let it end like this. Tell them I said something", although it's not mentioned in any contemporary account. They mostly say that he died instantly, with a general agreement that he was hit 9 times in the head and chest with hollow- or soft-point rounds.
The protomolecule has learned to improve its infection methods since Eros. It's gone beyond slow, shambling vomit zombies to fast and aggressive attackers spreading the infection by physical contact. Somehow, the protomolecule communicates with itself in an alocal fashion without the need for transmitted signals or physical interface. Remember, the protomolecule on Eros all flew itself into Venus, while the protomolecule the Protogen scientists have been using on Io are still from samples they took from Phoebe, long before the Eros incident. Somehow it's all talking to each other. And now this show is about to get really, REALLY interesting. The mysteries of the universe are about to unfurl and reveal a tiny piece of themselves to us tiny, little murder primates. The road-builder has been asleep for a long, long time. But now it's awake, and its doing its work again. God help us all. Oh, and if you're not already aware, *DO NOT WATCH THE OPENING CREDITS FOR THE NEXT EPISODE*.
For fun, if you have a few minutes, mosey back through comments fro earlier episodes and see all the references to Amos as, "That guy." That's how long people have looked forward to you reaching this episode. Better yet, the season only gets wilder from here.
A subtle story arc for Holden is him trying to be the paladin, and it not working, then trying to take on the Miller/Amos way of doing things and that not working either. It's his struggle between the two and that sory arc isn't done yet... 😯
I'm not saying there aren't still high points on the show, but, man, I don't know if it CAN get better than this episode. So much that came before culminates here. This episode is why I watch people react to this show.
Errinwright's problem is that he may have fought to save Earth, but he went straight to Needful Things with his government issued credit card to get his gear.
I wanted to wait until after this episode before mentioning this (didn't want to ruin the "that guy" moment) there is a YT channel called Ty&That Guy The channel is Wes Chatam and Ty Franck (one of the 2 creators and writers of The Expanse) Wes&Ty basically nerd out on the channel. They review each episode of the show and they also do other movies, as they are both BIG sci-fi fans. When you're finished with the show and still need more Amos, the best I can offer is this channel. It's not Amos, it's Wes, but still GREAT. BTW, somebody already mentioned this in the comment. But, a subtle but powerful moment was Mao forced to his knees. While the woman he tried to kill wears the racing suit of the daughter that he considered a necessary sacrifice. Karma's a bitch mutherfucker!!!
There are talks of Apple picking up The Expanse IP from Amazon as their license with Alcon studios ends soonTM. Presumably they want to start off with spin-off side stories before eventually picking up where they left the story?
A human in the vicinity of Io will receive a lethal dose of radiation in a couple hours. Ganymede and Callisto should be ok, as long as you don't stay on the surface too long. Of course, in the universe of the Expanse, we've seen that they have a cure for extreme radiation exposure and weight is less of an issue on ships so they can have more shielding. Bobbie's Goliath suit isn't bulky enough to have three-inch-thick lead plates, though. Nor were the normal vac suits. Theoretically, that should mean everyone needs one of those triangle things Holden has in his arm.

Almost every time Prax was in a thumbnail, for at least a moment, I thought it was this episode.
He's perhaps the only reactor to be more bowled over by Prax's line than Amos'. I love it.

I don't know how many times I've gone back and watched the "I am that guy" scene, not only for Amos' shooting of Strickland but for Amos' action of pulling Prax back from the precipice of destroying his soul if he pulled that trigger. Amos' eyes when he's told that he's Prax's "best friend in the whole world" is him realizing that he's not the monster that he thinks he is.

Season 4 was an absolutely necessary story that sets up how profoundly the events of this season changes *everything* .
It's actually a really good story. It's just not *as good* as the seasons on either side of it.
I've always liked how Prax made no excuses when Mei asked why he didn't come for her. To a kid her age there's nothing a daddy can't do so there is no excuse.

Just finished all 6 seasons. This series kept my attention from beginning to end. The worse part of The Expanse is that there isn't a season 7.
And season 8 and 9. I haven't given up hope that these will come.

The thing about the "I am that guy" line is that everyone knows it's coming, and it's still so satisfying when he says it. Knwoing it's coming may even make it better than if it were a surprise. Just one of the best momemts in the show.
That music at the end, the peaceful but lined with tension feeling, it smashes me every time.

A little thing: When Prax discovered Mei was nearby, he passed a picture on the window she had drawn of him.
"I am that guy" has got to be the most predicted dialog ever on television. Predictability is usually a sign of bad writing, but in this case the writers had us in such high anticipation, we'd have been disappointed if he hadn't said it. "My best friend in the whole world" and "I am that guy" was an effective one--two punch to the feelz. This was the culmination of so many moments of effective face acting that Wes has given over several episodes.
"I am that guy" is so good that there is a video compilation of reactors reacting to that scene. It's so good that there is a video of the _cast_ reacting to their first viewing of that scene.
You noted that Proto-Katoa had not been fully transformed (because Strickland was right about the inhibiting effect of his genetic deficiency). When she shot the brain stem, blood splattered...that part was still human. There is friendly discussion in the fan community about whether Proto-Katoa paused because the Belter child in it was awed by being out on the open surface (I think the writers are also of this opinion), or because it received the "Up" signal from the Protomolecule mother lode on Venus.

Me and my friend were screaming at the screen when Amos said the thing. That scene is perfection.
But I love that you teared up when Prax called Amos his best friend, I had a similar response. Those words mean so much to Amos, you can see it in the shocked head-turn he makes when he hears it. Such a great moment.

Most people support the idea that a criminal is innocent until proven guilty. Some will at least be willing to allow a villain to have a fair trial prior to his execution. Nobody expects or wants anything for Dr. Strickland other than a bullet to the head immediately upon being apprehended. Of course, we've seen what Dr. Strickland did to innocent children, so we know he is guilty as fuck, and deserving of nothiing else but the death penalty, although a few people might have preferred a slower and more painful death for him. It is common to praise the acting for all of the heroic characters in The Expanse, but let's give it up now for Ted Atherton's protrayal of Dr. Strickland. He really made everybody despise him and want him dead. A lot had to do with how his character was written and the actions attributed to that character, but, still, an actor had to step up and bring that mad scientist doc to life for us to hate without making him into a cartoon villain.

This is by far my favorite episode and favorite moment in all television. I give " I am that guy!" it's recognition as being nothing but awesome! But that's not the moment that's my favorite. Mine is " You're not that.. you're not that..." 😭 Amos told Prax a few episodes back that he didn't know crap about parenting. All he knew was that a kid needs at least one person not to give up on them. A child's innocents is Amos's Holy Grail. He cherish that above all. When Prax told Mea that Amos was his best friend in the whole world and could she stay with him. Amos knew Prax was going to do a necessary evil to end Strickland's life. Amos knew if Prax did this it would change him forever. Amos couldn't allow him to go through with this. So our beloved damaged reluctant hero took Prax's place to save his best friends soul. 😭
Don't worry... we all cried. Hell I cry every damn time I see this scene!

Agree 100%. It annoys me whenever I read a comment from a fan saying "best sci-fi show ever", or, worse than that, "best sci-fi in the last decade". It's the best TV show, and maybe when you look at the story arc for the first three seasons as akin to a long movie, the best movie, ever.
The Expanse is just so incredicbly smart. I don't watch TV shows anymore. They are as exciting as watching a test pattern on the screen after watching The Expanse.

The Haunting of Hill House is another example of such an excellent storytelling that watching other lesser series just gets tedious and pointless. In any genre even.

I love the subtlety of Amos' reaction to Prax's mbfitww line - and the production subtlety. Lesser shows would have had cut to an explicit close-up reaction shot. The airlock scene was originally written, and takes were shot I believe, with Amos having more of an extended monologue to persuade Prax down from the ledge. Wes Chatham said that he could do it with so much less, and that it would work better. Four words, repeated twice, that delivery, and again the subtle face and gesture acting. Incredible. I must confess my first reaction to it was a slight distaste, borne out of my dislike of the glorification of violence. But there are so many layers underneath that. I quickly changed my mind.
We've seen Amos becoming a little more Prax-like and Prax becoming a little more Amos-like, and we've seen hints of Amos sadness about the latter. Amos is already tarnished and "broken". He saves Prax from that tipping point.

One of the best moments in the series - I am that guy - and after this you can recommend the Ty & That Guy Podcast without it being a spoiler. This is the show were Wes Chatham and Ty Franck discuss The Expanse, bring in other cast members as guests and go into the other sci-fi that provided inspiration for the series, and a lot more. Of course their show is full of spoilers if you watch any of their podcasts other than ones specifically about episodes you've already seen.
I'm confused as to why these reactions don't have a higher view count... You're literally THE best Reactor of this series. You show actual emotion and not forced reactions. The scene didn't play out exactly as written. From what I understand there were the basic takes of the original script and then some takes when Wes cut down his dialog to the absolute bare minimum. Amos had a longer monologue to try to talk Prax down originally.

Wes Chatham 100% crushed his role as Amos, and yes, that scene. Possibly the most telegraphed line in televison history but still so satisfying. Possibly my favorite episode of the entire series, but definitely top 3. Bibbys call backs to Ganymede and even to arm wrestling her armor. Cotyar's sacrifice and Chrisjen's reaction, Prax and Mei's reunion, Errinwright's come uppance. And then the cliffhanger ending...chef's kiss. All of season 3, really. This show just keeps ramping up without ever jumping the shark. After you've finished I highly recommend reading the last 3 books. The overall story arc is beautiful and stunning, and they absolutely nail the ending.
And now you know why the official Expanse podcast is called, "Ty and That Guy"! lol
Btw, I wouldn't say The Expanse is unlike anything else. I put it clearly in the same category as New Battlestar and Babylon 5. You would really like both of those if you haven't seen them yet.

It's a double edged sword though, because I know we aren't going to get something as good as The Expanse for a long time. Our entertainment seems to peak every 10-15 years roughly. Bittersweet.
I watched this on Patreon and then came back and rewatched this on TH-cam twice because it's such a good episode. And there's the lines that we all love and remember like "I am that guy." And "This is Amos. He's my best friend in the whole world." But some honorable mentions:
Holden spotting Mao on the monitor and going "There's someone here that might know. Let me go ask." So good.
Bobby telling Chrissy "Ma'am, for the first time in your life, please just SHUT THE FUCK UP." Always reminds me of that great quote. Orders from officers not in the field, aren't worth shit.
The poor sailor on the Agatha King "I don't even know what we're fighting for." She's only in it for a short period but she's so good.
Erinwright ignoring the Secretary General and speaking straight to Anna and the SG clearly annoyed that his explanation is aimed at Anna. Not him. Because he's not really there. He's so perfectly called out. "He's just parroting you because you were the last person he talked to." A man so easily swayed that he just mimics the ideals and values of the last person in the room. You can tell that Erinwright found him useful, but HATED him for being such a spineless leader.

Great reaction. The pick moment for me here is precisely when Prax says the line and Amos takes Mei's hand and says "Hello"; more than the "I am that guy" moment (even being this a strong moment too). That moment for me is an amazing character development and writing, in a perfect, subtle and well delivered performance. You mentioned "redemption", and thinking about that, now I think that name maybe suits better to this episode, because most of the characters had his own redemption moment: Holden saving Mai for chosing her above another distress call, Naomi making a decision but only with the crew consent, Bobby chasing and beating the same kind of "thing" that killed her team and saving her new team, Alex trying to save at all cost Mars and his family too, and Amos of course, but in his case is more than just a redemption moment, I think.
Thing about Jim is that he thought he was doing the right thing when he sent that message for everyone to see implying that Mars was responsible for Eros, so he blames himself for everything that has happened since. It makes him feel responsible for fixing it in whatever way he can. That’s his motivation. Add to that that he has created a family for himself that he feels he must protect in the world he feels he helped create, a world of war, and that he came to think of Prax, and therefore Mei, as part of that family adds to the character arc.
Personally, I think The Expanse is the best science fiction show of all time.
"That fast?" - Don't forget: The Protomolecule on The Agatha King came from a Hybrid. It already had an understanding of the human body, so it could get straight to, spreading itself between crew as quickly as possible.
I really hope someone who watches your channel has personal contacts to one of the people involved in the show, and can link them to your channel, because I think they would be really proud to see how you reacted to their work.
It's so funny that Errinwright, a man who played everything close to the vest and was a master of manipulation got taken down by a really nice lady.
This is my second favourite episode ever of The Expanse. Even better with a double bill with Triple Point.
But it has the best scene IMO in the entire series based on three lines
1. “ no seriously, shut up”- the moment Strickland realised there’s a new player and the dread kicks in
2. “He’s my best friend in the whole world” - the look on Amos’ face. Panic? Shock? Either way he knows there’s so much more on him now to protect Prax which leads to…
“I am that Guy”. The emphasis on AM. Strickland knew he was fuct the moment those doors shut and he had Amos’ back to him. And Amos was able to do that job and not let his best friend in the whole world lose his humanity

It saved me from making a point of no return decision, and that friend is still One of my best friends. Period, full stop. Everyone needs an Amos to pull them back from the brink sometimes. I think the Prax/Amos scene was one of the best scenes i have seen. One of the best in the series.
Oh, good. You have made it through the slow part of Season 3. Don't worry, things will move a lot faster from now on.
Also; to all the writers and showrunners out there: THAT's how you write characters and conclude their arcs! Of course Amos' story is not over yet, but his journey from a Brute who struggled to understand his own identity and had to look to others to separate right from wrong, to a character who understands what he is capable off and now has the wisdom to pick the right side without having to rely on others to shows him the way, is complete.
I've been trying to find something a bit more definative (one of my failings as a scholar was that I knew stuff, but not where I knew the stuff from), but Cotyar's ending is reminiscent of the story of Pancho Villa's death. It is widely reported that his last words were (admittedly probably in Spanish) "don't let it end like this. Tell them I said something", although it's not mentioned in any contemporary account. They mostly say that he died instantly, with a general agreement that he was hit 9 times in the head and chest with hollow- or soft-point rounds.
When I first saw this episode, I thought the elevator banter a nod to Mass Effect.
The protomolecule has learned to improve its infection methods since Eros. It's gone beyond slow, shambling vomit zombies to fast and aggressive attackers spreading the infection by physical contact. Somehow, the protomolecule communicates with itself in an alocal fashion without the need for transmitted signals or physical interface. Remember, the protomolecule on Eros all flew itself into Venus, while the protomolecule the Protogen scientists have been using on Io are still from samples they took from Phoebe, long before the Eros incident. Somehow it's all talking to each other.
And now this show is about to get really, REALLY interesting. The mysteries of the universe are about to unfurl and reveal a tiny piece of themselves to us tiny, little murder primates. The road-builder has been asleep for a long, long time. But now it's awake, and its doing its work again. God help us all.
Oh, and if you're not already aware, *DO NOT WATCH THE OPENING CREDITS FOR THE NEXT EPISODE*.

BTW, somebody already mentioned this in the comment. But, a subtle but powerful moment was Mao forced to his knees. While the woman he tried to kill wears the racing suit of the daughter that he considered a necessary sacrifice.

A human in the vicinity of Io will receive a lethal dose of radiation in a couple hours. Ganymede and Callisto should be ok, as long as you don't stay on the surface too long.
