Wes Chatham does have military experience. He was in the U.S. Navy. He worked as an aviation firefighter on the flight deck of the USS Essex, working in crash and salvage for four years.
He also was in The Unit for a while and I'd be shocked if he didn't get at least a little SF bootcamp whilst doing that - those guys took that stuff incredibly seriously.
Plots, action, an iconic Amos scene, the protomolocule throwing expectations out of the window, and the ending music. This is my absolute favorite episode in the series.

Bobbie Draper managed to kill Katoa is because Katoa didn't fully transformed yet, you can see the red blood coming out from Katoa's brain when Bobbie shot him in the back of the head. If Katoa fully transformed into Hybrid then a gun cannot kill him, only explosion or heat like Rocinante booster in season 2 finale that can kill the Hybrid. Sorry for my bad english

Amos understands that for good people to survive in this universe, a lot of bad things have to happen to protect them. He accepts that it is his role to be the Bad man who protects the good people. He IS that guy.

Don't forget that was a special hybrid made from the kids with the disease (Kotoa) that made them resistant to being taken over by the protomolecule. It is likely that made it more susceptible to human type killing than would otherwise be the case.
When Bobbie shoots out the base of the brainstem you can see there’s still blood as she destroys the base of the neck, so the brainstem was still basically human anatomy and susceptible to damage easier than the protomolecule parts which could regenerate, so she managed tofind a weakness still in the hybrid’s body.
