I very surprised and admire the beauty of the twin tracks and interesting tunnel shapes and the great view.This high speed train is like the ones in switzerland.If there was no title of the video,I might think it is in Switzerland.Thank you for the video,I truly enjoyed it very much.
That trip was amazing! I recall train trips on the old line in the 60s taking much longer and the terminal in Tel Aviv did not connect with trains going north. They were in another station, to which you needed to take a bus. In Jerusalem, the old terminal was also out of the way. The old train also did not have many stops and was not a connection convenience for most. It did not go by the airport either. This line in addition to other lines and extensions, suburban trains and inner city light rail and subways being built are a dream come true and are a giant leap in transportation in Israel.
Yes, because the old track was a part of an old Ottoman railway that used to branch in Yaffo (today's Tel Aviv) and continue all the way to Cairo. It was built as an offshoot of the legendary Hejaz Railway back in the days. The tracks lost their purpose after the downfall of the Ottoman empire. Many lines were cut, leaving behind only these short sections, which were difficult to sustain in themselves. When the new country of Israel was established, all the urban centers and travel priorities have shifted, forcing complete redesign of public transport.
This is absolutely outstanding. I can't wait to travel on it myself when the country opens to tourists again. I have been planning on travelling along both railways to Jerusalem for a while - I can only hope the old one does not close before I can come back!
The old line is closed since March and I'm afraid forever. I have filmed it before 5 years. It's not 4K, but I will probably upload this video soon . It's most beautiful line in Israel

@Michael Dunetz The Jerusalem - Bet Shemesh stretch is a very slow, looping route. It's actually quicker to take a bus between the two cities. I imagine the line wasn't seeing enough use to be worth continuing to operate. I agree that it's a shame, though, as it has historical significance and was great for sightseeing.
The long tunnel (11 km or 7 miles) takes 5½ minutes in this film - the train enters the tunnel at 3:26 and leave it at 9:01. I estimate from this that the train travels at about 125 km/h or 77 mph in the tunnel. If the speed in the tunnels is increased to 160 km/h (100 mph) the time in the long tunnel would be 4 minutes. Increasing the line speed to 200 km/h (125 mph) would reduce time in the long tunnel to only 3.3 minutes which the travellers may prefer...!
Hi Sergey, Thank you for the second version of Jerusalem line. The video quality is excellent. It seems to me that this version is uncut (especially the tunnels run). I missing in this version the descriptions of various stations including operational ones , the join lines and digital speedometer (it could be very nice to have it) Is this version a newly recorded one. Thank you for filming the works to form the line to Modiin. At 13:40 can be seen the start of the junction for the direct line to Modiin and at 14:30 the film shows work on the connecting line to join the line from TA to Modiin. The line from TA to Modiin is seen at 15:20 and its junction with the Jerusalem line at 16:10-16:15.
Great film. Watched the whole thing. Very enjoyable. I could not figure out why the train did not stop at the airport. This would of only be one stop and would of resulted in only a minimal increase in the duration of the trip.

Во первых, спасибо большое за комментарий! Во вторых, только первый тоннель построил метрострой, но, он самый качественный, что стало очевидным после нескольких лет эксплуатации. Ну и в третьих, конечно приезжайте по возможности! А пока что, берегите себя!

Пешком, с сыном, обошли все окрестности Бат Яма и Тель Авива, да и по Холону немало километров прошли. Старый Иерусалим хорошо изучили, в Хайфе не раз бывали. В Эйлат на пару дней заезжали, но, не зацепило. А так Да! Самые теплые чувства. Мира Вам!!!
Is there a reason why the tracks share a single tunnel under Jerusalem, yet for the rest of the route they run in separate tunnels? Can you do a ride on the new line to karmiel please?

Thank you for good question. It's a very old project, and usually it takes a lot of time to finish goverment's projects, especially in Levant. Modern project for every new line is 250 kmh, but it will take at least 15 years from now. On the other hand, Israel is so small, so there is no huge difference
I thought I was hearing the panting of a woman in the several minutes before the end, but figured it must be something else. Then I heard an unmistakable sound at 29:20, and knew it wasn't my imagination.

I find them very therapeutic. I am crazy about trains and travelled in all trains in Europe and even was once inside the cab in Sweden. It's a voice of computer. First time it was a Malfunction and the second one was reminder to open the doors of the train
