Thank you so very much lorirocks777 for your brilliant YT videos of your most beautiful country. Hopefully, I'll be back in Zurich in mid-June next year. In years past, I've been on some of the rail routes that you've featured over the years in and out of St Moritz. Absolutely stunning scenery! I note your 'title' comment in this video about the stabilisation problem with the GoPro 9 - that is very aggressive stabilisation which has actually invoked the exact opposite of stabilisation. So I'm glad that I haven't upgraded my GoPro 8. Cheers ... and thank you.
Thank you for this very nice cab ride and for all info given in this video. Beautiful landscapes, blue sky and a few small clouds here and there. In the first part of this ride a splendid autumn"s afternoon day. But it was too much to ask. A pity, then in the second part the sky was totally overcast.
I love to sit on this ride, and I love such quiet clean areas, but this is just a dream for me. That's because I don't have the resources. I am surprised by only one thing that people are rarely seen here, It may be because it is morning, Or the population here is very less. And the clean roads here are very nice. Anyway, as I said, it's just a dream for me. I like your video very much.
Anytime I see a video on this channel pop up which is RhB, I have to watch as soon as I can, for I love your videos Paolo. This one is, to me one of the best, it has the beautiful scenery, the light at the beginning is great to show off the autumn colours. I was enjoying all the golden hues on the hillsides until I realized that most of it was dead conifers and that saddened me. Looks like Switzerland is having the same issue the rocky mountain west here in the US is having with tree die off. Also isn't the church on the right at 59:24 the same one you took us on a tour of some time ago?
Sharon I can assure you those trees are not dying. What you see are Larch (Larix) trees. This is a species of coniferous tree that assumes fall coloration from green-yellow to yellow to reddish to brown and then drops its needles like a broad-leaved tree. Hence fall colors can be admired in Engadin despite the fact that most of the trees there are coniferous trees. I went to boarding school close to Scuol in the 70's and that's exactly how fall colors were like then. In a few weeks the Larch trees will have dropped all their needles only to bud and grow shiny green new ones come spring of next year. If you ever have the chance to visit Switzerland go to Lower Engadin instead of the normal touristy spots in this country. Lower Engadin is one of the most beautiful spots I know.
Thank you both for the excellent clip - plenty to see, both in terms of autumn colours and also operationally - is the 16-axle powered set one of the Thusis-Prättigau S-Bahn units? Is that series being transferred to the Pontresina-Scuol shuttles? That would make sense if it will allow occasional trailing container wagons as required - my understanding is that Capricorn doesn't have sufficient power for extra loads and its Scharfenberg couplings are incompatible with freight anyway \m/
Yeah last year we had an idea of what the future will look like. Actually they are planned to come up instead of the Ge 4/4 II right now as soon as enough Capricorns are available (actually 21 in service). The power output is similar (capricorn are slightly more powerful to be able to reach 120km/h). The older ABe 4/16 can couple occasionally freight or whatever and that is true.
