It breaks my heart to know that the last time he stand on the stage was to accept Heath Ledger's Golden Globe win on his behalf. Now he's accepting his own win by paying tribute to the legendary actor. I'm sure Heath would've been proud to see Nolan's success so far. It's okay if it's his first win after six nomination because you know as they say, better late than never 🤗

I don’t think you mean prolific. He makes one film every 2-3 years. That’s not prolific. Terrific fits better. People misuse prolific a lot, thinking it means “great” but it just means highly productive.
Chris Nolan is the reason I like movies. My top three movies are all made by him. It's about time he got recognition for his hard work. On to the Oscars Chris!

His win feels more like our win, he has been that one director who has matched art with commercial success in a time when it is rare. For me, Oppenheimer might just be his best film, and that is insane praise, I am obsessed with that movie.

Oppenheimer is not his best film. Inception is the piece de resistance of his entire body of work.

And reminder, we all gotta thank DiCaprio for how good inception turned out. Apparently it was his idea to make it about Cobb getting back to his kids in America. Originally it was just gonna be more of a heist movie but leos idea gave it so much emotional weight. Thank God for that

After watching The Dark Knight, I refuse to allow myself to watch rubbish films anymore. Mr. Nolan raises the standard of films in me. Thank you so much and congrats on your well deserved award.
What baffles me is that this is his first golden globe. This man has been pushing boundaries in cinema, making his movies with little to no CGI, which shows his commitment to the viewers and his commitment to create a cinematic experience. All his movies are a complex study of human nature and human drives while tackling scientific and philosophical subjects. When you watch his movies, whether you like the concept or not, you cannot not appreciate the art and the mastery of craft that he presents. His mind is a wonder and he is simply one of the best, if not the best director of this generation.
Couldn't agree more. He's also a rare director that can make truly thought provoking and complex blockbuster movies. You never leave a chris nolan movie without some sort of discussion whether it's in your head or with your friends

It's CRAZY to think Nolan hasn't won any of the major awards until now. The only thing he won was a "Britannia Award", he should be swimming in awards for direction, best picture, writing, etc.
To be honest, he never deserved it. Perhaps Interstellar for best picture but just that. Can't think of any other time he should have been awarded. I don't even agree with Oppenheimer, to be honest. I really liked the film, but I simply think there are better.
He should have won the award before with Interstellar. No questioning that.
@@rafaelc.c. Personally I think he should've won for Memento, The Prestige, arguably The Dark Knight, Inception for sure, Interstellar and probably Dunkirk as well. I can see if Tenet isn't a winner, or if they're hesitant about the Dark Knight movies, but most of his movies are world class.

@@HugoStiglitz88 He also should have won for Dunkirk and Insomnia, this time they can no longer rob him and that is why they are rewarding him, as they did with Scorsese and Spielberg, many years were stolen from them, until they could no longer. This year the fairest thing would be a tie between Scorsese and Nolan.

Christopher McQuarrie makes good films too but hes not as prolific as Nolan yet.

I have watched every single Chris Nolan’s films ever since I was a kid. His movies has been a part of my life and his movies are the things that helped me go through tough times and give me a new dream. Oppenheimer was just staggering. It was amazing, I do not have the words to describe my feelings watching that movie. The cinematography, the storyline, the dialogues, the characters, the music, the camera angles, position, lightings, editing, the script, and everything else was just amazing. I have read all the lines of the transcript and I have already rewatched the movie 5 times to better understand it. I also am reading the American Prometheus which is amazing. After my first time watching Oppenheimer, the thoughts and questions I had after watching it stayed with me for weeks, which led me to watch it again and again. I was amazed, it was breathtaking. The cinematography was beautiful and it couldn’t have been better. The fact that Nolan didn’t use cgi for the trinity test scene just made me more inspired. Four stars is not enough for this movie, neither are any stars and ratings in this world. This movie is out of this world and it is a masterpiece. Congrats Nolan on your award, it is well deserved 🎉❤

Without a doubt, Nolan is the best director of this century. Giving him his Oscar but also giving it to Scorsese, they both deserve, it is a tie. It would be beautiful and symbolic to see that the best living director and the best director of this century will both win an award, but unfortunately i believe that film guilds do not have the vision to create legendary and necessary moments. Scorsese and Nolan... GOATS.

Man, you can hear by the way he's talking that he is genuinely proud about all of this and fighting the emotional overload. Still delivers such powerful lines. And what a soundtrack to come to to accept the award. Well done to everyone in this project and really happy for Nolan. I hope he gets the Oscar he's long overdue.

Brings tears just to see him get that long due well deserved recognition, come to life. This is that dream scenario I've always imagined where I could listen to Chris's Oscar Award acceptance speech. Christopher Nolan is the last TRUE light of Hollywood Auteur Blockbuster Filmmaking.
Any other director working on his scale either sells out, makes something unoriginal, or ventures off to make something small.
Nolan has held onto the trust of studios to use millions of dollars and really creating spectacles rich in visual and intellectual magnificence.
He's brought the arthouse to the mainstream better than any filmmaker before him since Stanley Kubrick.
