Great video! I have a 2009 Mercury Mariner with 200k miles. I have had to replace the blower motor resistor twice and the blower motor itself once. I am currently experiencing the ignition problem. You don't need to necessarily get the ignition cylinder replaced because if you slightly push the cylinder in while turning it works just fine. Mine has been like this for a few years but the problem may get worse.
Best purchase i ever made was an 11 that was smacked in the front, salvage title. Mileage said 0 because the battery cable was cut, turns out it only had 48k on it and i got it for 1200 bucks after fees and shipping. Bought a back end wreck for 600 bucks (scrapped it after for 250) needed another 750 in parts on top of that and shes perfect after i fixed and painted it. Only got about 3 grand in it all done
LOVE my 2010 Mercury Mariner Premier it has been great through Maine winters. I do have the U joint issue and have fought ford on this ....They said it was no longer a recall issue as they had worked on the recall a couple years ago. I have dealt with rust issue living in NE but other than that it has been a very trustworthy vehicle...lagging until u get over 40 but great otherwise!
This is good but you should research your issue further. These are all common issues. 1. Steering U-joint can be replaced separate of the steering shaft. Yes Ford does say to replace the shaft with the joint, but If you're watching this, you can probably only afford to replace the failed part, as that is what is still available. (Ford TSB 10-13-2) Yes you should get it aligned along with steering angle/torque sensor. (which may also need replacement). 2. This No-start is not typically a bad ignition cylinder as it is a bad Ignition Lock Module. This is the switch rotated by the ignition cylinder. These tend to fail in 08-10 models. 3. Blower resistor. Many owners, my self included, have had to replace the blower resister at least once as they fail early on this vehicle. You don't need to out-right replace the blower b/c of this. 4. no comment. 5. Depending on the trouble code, you may not have to replace the entire steering column when replacing the steering angle sensor. Hint. There have been reported issues of Ford charging you for it if the parts fail after performing the prophylactic software update. (Ford Recall 14S05) Check out the forum escape-city.com for more.
agreed, and you don't need to get a new key with the ignition lock module replacement. Also the blower resistor is accessed by lowering the glove box, there is a TSB where you can apply some sealant where the cabin air filter should go in order to prevent water from damaging the resistor again. I believe the blower motor itself is a much larger job on these vehicles.
My 2011 lasted a long time, BUT I think it thought I stole it, never trusted me to shift from park to drive, also shut off my screen often. I had to override it the entire time just to drive, but it got the job done at least
This was very enlightening. I just had a steering column u joint put on my car. I’d like to know how do I set the automatic lights to come on . I just recently bought the suv. Please help, I’m a senior that still tries to learn on my own.. thank you very much. Ms. Bell
Can you please do a video on how to use the lever under the hood to release it? I’ve had mine in the garage for a couple of years and have forgotten how to pop that latch. Tried pulling up, pushing down, left, and right. Also called the nearest mechanic to ask if I could pay him to stop by and do that for me. He suggested I contact a body shop. I really only want to pop the hood so I can jump start it.
So i have a question, i have this car and when i go over speed bump or pot holes it sound like the bottom of the car is falling out🤣. I replaced the struts what else could it be?
Only issue I had was the electric steering module went out. 2008 model year. Loved that suv then the driver caliper front had to be changed out. But purchased at 69725 and sold at 149750 .
Thank you very much for that information, I am experiencing one of those, I was thinking something to do with the ignition switch and you confirmed it.
I've had my 2010 since late 2009 and I've had very few issues with it. The HVAC has had issues from time to time. That's been the resistor as he describes in the video. I 've done regular maintenance on it.
I am about to give you what's been driving a lot of people mad with the 2010 Mercury not starting, every 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, month etc. Then you're stranded. Everybody thought that it was the alarm system the PAS? That was the symptom here is the disease and the Cure. If I could charge for this I would, because I would have paid 300+ bucks to get this fixed, it probably cost me, literally three thousand, over the course of three or four years. (E. CONNOLLY 23 SPOON SQ. FRONT ROYAL VA 22630) should you feel as elated as I did and a little generous. Well here it is. This may not be the fix for some of you, but maybe just in another area of your car. I started to rock my car when this happened for about the hundredth time. Don't know what made me do it? But it started. So I took it to the Ford dealer and told them, so they scoured the undercarriage. Here is what it was. a f****** ground wire (twisted cable) running from my battery to the transmission, had rusted out and caused to short the PSA Factory security system. I hope this helps a lot of people keep their sanity and money. I had at least three starters, two alternators a key cylinder replaced because they played me at the dealer. Now. Go get your car fixed.
From the official vehicle documents: Service interval for the 6F transmission (taken from VIN) for a 2010 Escape XLT is to change fluid at 150,000 miles. There does not appear to be a filter. This does not sound good to me. Unfortunately, there are no service schedules per component - you have to look at all the scheduled service times and find those pertaining to the transmission.
I really appreciate your videos and learn a lot about different car issues. I would like to add a suggestion. When you are discussing an issue with a particular car, can you please include at what mileage the issue most likely will appear, if possible. Thank you and continued success.
08 Mariner instrument complete warning light cluster lights up the tach and speedometer both die. Random. Try to start anti theft and some other lights come on, won't start random. Sometimes no response at all sometimes starts right up and works for awhile which also keeps the cluster from lighting up. Temperature change and humidity also affect it.
Having a similar problem. My daughter drives an 08 Mariner and last night this happened when she was stopped at a traffic light - the whole warning light system lit up, but the car wouldn't start. She waited a minute then tried starting the car and it started. She got home, and now I'm trying to seek answers to guide our mechanic to figuring out what happened and how to fix it.
I just purchased a used 2010 Mercury Mariner and for some reason when it rains I have electrical failure. Can you tell me what the problem could be? I'm thinking that maybe there's something under the hood that should be covered up that's not but 🤷
I have a 09 mariner 2.5L an I replaced the lower control arms on it last weekend now I'm getting a weird howling noise goin down the road until I stop could it be a wheel bearing or the tires until I get it aligned next week

My wife has a 2015 Ford escape. She says she hears a clicking from time to time when she drives the truck. However no one can seem to find it. An I've also heard the click yet don't see any tells of where it could be. Are the axles tend to be the point of this click from natural play in them?
I have an 2008 mercury mariner while driving the traction control came on and the steering wheel locked up for a few seconds then went back to normal the light went out then back on again a short time later and again the wheel temporarily locked up any ideas
Hi. I have a 2011 Mercury Mariner Premium with a touch screen. I just replaced the battery. Now my clock is not working. I tried to set it but all the features on my screen are grayed out so I'm not able to change the time. All other features are back to normal. Please help.
Hey, I saw a 2011 mercury mariner with 170k miles in 3k dollars, do you think Can be a good buy? Or better continue using small cars and go for a Volkswagen Jetta with 130k-150k miles. That’s are my 2 options right now.

I have an 2008 Mariner Premier. Recently i hit a bump in the road hard and the entire truck shut off on 2 occasions. the first one was hard and the second one wasn't that hard. What could have caused that.
Me too, it has actually happened ALOT over the last month with my 2009. Have since spent 3 trips to the mechanic to try and remedy: overall maintenance and service with oil change, clean engine and motor, replaced the fuel pump after it still persisted and now it won’t start and is in the shop 😓 Have you found the fix for whatever this is by chance? 🤞🏽
sometimes when it's related to a hit or a small crash, you would need to reset the fuel pump, sounds really simple but some mechanics don't even know about this, I don't own this specific car, in my car the fuel reset is located under de glove box, it's red and it says fuel reset
So I got stuck in my drive way in alot of snow and was crawling out and something just let go. When I put it in park there is a huge grinding noise even shakes the shifter. And no it does not drive anywhere. Can anyone give me a idea of maybe what it could be? I can't get under it right now. I did verify the drive shafts are okay and I can actually roll the vehicle by the driveshaft in while it's in park... help..
My Ford dealer says steering columns are , not only on backorder, but they are $1,800.00 . If mechanic says steering column, don't do it. Sell the car.

Same!! They keep saying “ No OpeN ReCalLs” . It WAS a recall tho! Fix ittttttt
I’d love one! Do you like the ambient lighting?
I live in Maine and own a 2011 Mariner Premier. I love it and can travel safely through any snow storm. Thing is a beast!
Changing the steering u joint is wicked easy. I’m not a mechanic and it took me 10 min
