The setting I use on my Sigma 150 to 600 mm lens

  • This week’s video is about the setting on my Sigma zoom 150 to 600 mm lens. I was asked a few days ago, what setting I use on my lens. I have never been asked that before, so I decided to make a video about. I have never though much about the setting I have on my lens there are only four but after reading the manual I began to understand that there is more to the lens then I was thinking.
I hope that you enjoy the video.
    Thanks

I was given this lens as a present about a year ago. As a relatively new photographer I never fully understood the 4 settings buttons. Thanks to you, I do now! Very clear explanation, thanks again.

You should have your VR/OS off if your shooting at shutter speed of 1/1000 or greater. The stabilization can introduce shake/blur.
If your lens had a sport mode for it stabilization like Nikons VR system does that mode will be fine as that is for panning. If you're all over the place tracking then still turn off your VR/OS

I recently heard that turning off the OS isn't necessary when attached to the tripod.

I tried with manual focus and it would not come into focus. I tried with AF and it continuously hunted for focus and would not come into focus. The guys were about 200 yards or more from my point on land. I put in my Canon 70-300 Mm lens and it was crystal clear with no problems what so ever. After update it was pretty much the same with focusing OK at shorter distances but when going all the way out from about 400mm to 600mm is where the problem is. Like I said when I was doing the surf photos it was on a tripod and I used a remote shutter and I could not get it to focus. But when I put on my other 150-300 Canon lense and used manual focus or AF it was crystal clear! I think I just need to continue changing the settings until it gets better.
