Just finished all 3 parts, these are easily some of the best production videos I've ever seen, seriously useful information from James! If you could do another mini series with James that would be great, his way of explaining everything he's doing in this video was very useful. Thanks to both James and Point Blank for sharing!
Unbelievably humbling. I've worked with a few masters across various genres of music, though none in James' particular field. Incredible, and a great great advertisement for committing to choices. Well done PB and James. More of these please!
This series is precious... simply jam-packed with tips & techniques... and the speed in which James explains is perfect - if you know your way around Ableton Live. I'm hoping he'll be back for other tutorials. Thank you Point Blank, this was indeed a gift to all of us.
This was by far most useful "in studio" type of video I've come across..So many good tips and above all, James is brilliant teacher and he knows very well how to explain and transfer knowledge on us - viewers. Hopefully, we will see more stuff coming from him :).. Thank you, PB
I trully think this is the best tutorial I've seen in my whole life, so much knowledge and so much precision in the technical approach of the mix, I've learned a lot, thank you sir !
Nicely done James and PB! Even though I have absolutely no interest in creating pure drum tracks and no budget for all that analog gear, I still learned a ton about Ableton and mixing! And I got to see Declan in a Santa hat pretending to react to things! Seriously, though, this was a really high-quality session and I hope to see more from James Wiltshire.
This guy and Point Blank are the TRUTH! I'm learning an Insane amount at Icon Collective, but it's ALWAYS nice to get pro instruction from a variety of sources. I can't thank you guys enough. Keep it up please! #Keystosuccess.
What an amazing series of videos! Truly inspirational and not a midi file in sight! Defo gonna be chaining my sounds for parallel effects a lot more. Thank you Point Blank and thank you James :)
James is a GENUIS! Speaking about a guru of production. A true wizard of his craft. Thanks PB..always a pleasure to learn sth new! Will be joining your online logic/Ableton diploma courses soon! Cheers ;)
+Atila Cintosun Great to hear! Can you please email advice@pointblanklondon.com if you need anymore info on our diplomas - looking forward to having you on board!
31:00 There's free plugin by Apple called "AAC Roundtrip" or something like this which emulates the mp3 compression, they present it as helpful for MFiT :) Thank you , great tutorial!
So sick how to get a pro sound out of mashing some drums. Really cool to have a full processing channel to plug gear into to tame before recording vs after the fact
@20:10 don't know why i laughed, just funny i know the feeling. It's way more fun to play it and correct then click it out, but the noise uplifter, hahahaha.
Still wonder why james doesn't just create a parallel send for ny style compression. I have a sends for ny comp, sub comp and high end parallel comp. i also slap a eq before the compressor on these sends with the frequencies I want to focus on exaggerated. Check out mr bill TH-cam on parallel compression. Not taking away from James. These videos are awesome.
James Wiltshire aka James Paralshire :D :D I am pretty sure at the end he use a parallel for the whole ableton file :D :D just kidding great tutorial mate:) Ps -0.8 on master i always thought -0.3 its was the recomended from all engineers
pure TR909 sound and groove (you can watch at Jeff Miles, much faster and better doing pure live with a TR909), yes James is a master so i would saw him doing something better than the same ultra repeated stuff in millons of songs at the present the artistic level is far of this. But i enjoy watching James giving production ideas
This guy should be fixing lawnmowers. Musical composition is not his thing. It's not about gadgets. Why would anyone spend so much time, money, and energy to make music that lacks uniqueness in any way? This was already done 30 years ago. Will he try to dance like Michael Jackson next? This is not composition. This is gadget tinkering. Nice hobby. The end result could not possibly be more generic. Style over substance. Without the special effects, you've got sawdust. Let's see the score for this "composition." Play it on a piano and what have you got? I'd rather listen to the dishwasher.

Unbelievably humbling. I've worked with a few masters across various genres of music, though none in James' particular field. Incredible, and a great great advertisement for committing to choices. Well done PB and James. More of these please!

Right that’s it - buying Ableton. ( Logic user for years here ). Have been bingeing on James’s tutorials this weekend.

This Dude is so good! Wow my honest respect to you James!
Most videos I watch don't teach me much. These absolutely did. Many thanks!

The real artist behind Solomoon and many others... admire!
This is why you buy hardware synths and keep using your old digital stuff. Variety. Neat.
pure fire this set of videos
Great series! Thank you, so much, for posting this. Merry Christmas, PB!
Just perfect! I was waiting for Ru Paul to come in and get into the groove, that will make it fierce...

20:20 Sounds like the beginning of Freelove by Depeche Mode :) I mean the FX
@20:10 don't know why i laughed, just funny i know the feeling. It's way more fun to play it and correct then click it out, but the noise uplifter, hahahaha.

What does the Compressor actually do?

Whats the title song!?
31:40 "e ee next iem *thumb up* ALRIGHT, SO HOPEFULLY..."
I never knew Phil Mitchell was such a talented musician. Imagine what he could produce if he kept off the booze and smack.
man he's fast with the mouse
people that you can listen to for a long time........Bob Ross, Fred Dibnah and James Wiltshires.
discopolis...The beat on the intro hauwd as f*ck!!
And THAT drone synth during the breakdown of Discopolis …. unfckingbelievable. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I don't hear any difference. I only hear boom boom pak boom boo pak
15 people don't like parallel processing

The video title is "creating a drum track".
It's a drum track for a house song. There will be synths, melodies, vocals and samples to make a song. Music does not have to fit anyones preferences
