    Such an amazing interview! James is always sure to drop gems on music production and life in general. I especially appreciated him being vulnerable and open about his experience with stress and anxiety. I thought I was the only one who had that kind of tick when I remember some little moment I regret 😅🙏🏼

    James is a great guy. Been buying his F9 packs for a while now - all awesome quality and he’s always around whenever you ask him something too. Nice to see Harry get a mention - have his 707 mod on mine. Gets used more than my TR-8S for some strange reason.

    The F9 expansion for MPC is bloody spectacular. The amount of samples used on the piano instrument alone (which sounds great) is huge. Thanks from all of us James who use MPC for all forms of music not just beat making.

      Amazing, Claude Young the OG Detroit Techno don, I've been buying up your back catalogue on Djax up records, every time I drop a track an older track by you, Sean Deason, Kenny Larkin, Robert Hood, the kids go mental and thinks its new. I agree with you on James tutorials , absolute gold, drum programming, sampling, nailing a vibe man's a genius 👌

    So interesting on so many levels: the quantizing with Cubase/MPC/Logic part was fascinating and so was the mixing and hearing perception bit about midranges etc, great, and I’m not even half way though yet, thank you.

    James has taken so much time to help me and give sound advice over the years I have bought F9 products. Plus he's a music legend and all round great guy. Id love to see an F9 trap/chill package to go with the amazing guitar packages and trumpet package I use so much.

  • @MondstaubMusik
    @MondstaubMusik 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Besides the high quality of F9, the value they have in terms of education can't be overstated. I am pretty sure that F9 is the only brand of all the sample idustry that goes all the way to explain in depth the process of their production. Be it the gear used, how a session is set up & why it is set up the way it is. Any beginning producer/musician should go and check out the series of videos James did on the different generes of dance music. For me especially the Trax series helped me a long way in understanding how arrangements differ between generes of dance music. Thanks & best wishes for the future James.

    *Wonderful interview, very interesting to watch!* 👏👏👏
    One question for James regarding the MPC swing. Roger Linn himself stated that he "just" tried to make these machines as timing-perfect as technically possible. Which obviously worked incrediby well with the 3000. And he designed the swing feature with the same attidtude. No magical algorithm, just shifting the even 16th-notes back depending on the wanted percentage. As I personally started out with the classic 2000 - got it right when it came out and I used it for at least 10 years heavily - I wonder how much _better_ you find the 3000 as opposed to the 2000 and maybe the 2000XL.

    • @dglcomputers1498

      @@sonicstate Some issues with faulty touchscreens causing ghost touches (not Behringer's fault, manufacturing defect) and the supply of replacements (like all components now) but you can now disable the touchscreen if necessary and use a mouse.
      48 Stereo channels, selection of dynamics emulations for each channel, plus not only AES50 but supposedly the option for an internal DANTE card and their new Stageconnect interface (32 channels of audio over a simple XLR cable. with each channel being able to go either way, i.e. 12 channels in and 20 channels out or any combination thereof).
      Has a 64?CH SD recording card as standard.
      Still only 48Khz but still looks good for the price.

    Really interesting point James made at the end there (see link below) about Logic sounding "lusher and warmer". This is such a highly debated topic in audio forums but so many people think there is nothing in it. They all sound the same. I remember jumping from FL Studio years ago to Ableton Live 8 and thinking Ableton sounded so much more clearer and brighter/crisp? The difference was night and day. But I was still in my early days of producing so didn't quite understand what I was experiencing. It'd be interesting to hear more of an explanation on this if you're reading James :) Cheers to you both for the great chats!

    On the wing. User channels are crazy. And if you use it for sampling use the matrix outs to the samplers. And I use mine for a 9.1.6 Dolby Atmos mixer -controller. User outs then assign a DCA to all faders. Crazy powerful mixer
    Also send external efx send/ returns from Nuendo . One more I record the atmos mix to the Wlive card Atmos playback with out having to turn my whole system.
