I honestly really can't enjoy playing this game but I think it's the most entertaining souls Speedrun to watch partially because I don't know a whole lot about it but the movement is just so much more interesting

Long runs frequently have a lot of room for improvement because who the fuck wants to optimize a 2 hour run? The play time is vicious, and at maximum you are getting in 1/4 of the runs of a 30 minute run

But it's much more enjoyable to watch speedruns for than 1 and 3, and probably more enjoyable than Bloodborne too tbh.
The 2:09 is in the base version of the game, slightly faster since you don't fight Aldia, and possibly other reasons too, I don't know enough about the differences between Base and Scholar because I only played base for like a couple of hours when it came out, then got my plat on Scholar.

Dark Souls 2 was the game that lead me to finding Dist on twitch, so by god, I will watch every record video he posts.
It's my first souls-type game, so it holds a special place.
But man, it's kinda hard to get back into it these days due to its level design.

I've only watched bits and pieces of these runs but even I felt the pain of the Mytha fog gate and Gank Squad fight
This run was an emotional rollercoaster. It's a shame that some RNG can undo like 10 gold splits but that's DS2 for ya
