- The Fenix TK70 is the company's current brightest light, by a huge margin. It uses 3-4 D cell batteries to power three CREE XM-L LEDs for a maximum output of 2200 lumens. The light has the same interface as many of Fenix's recent large lights, with two switches that let you quickly and easily select between the four different outputs and flashing modes.

Yes this is a great brand. I have 3 of them now and it's sure brighter than any of my Surefire. Good construction and very strong.
The extender belong at the end. The knurled tube belongs near the switch where you hold the flashlight giving you traction and that is also where the flashlight's balance point is.
Crazy how so much smaller and brighter they are now
FYI: I have tried 10,000MAH D-Cells and Alkalines, same deal with the cut-off in turbo mode. High mode is more than most people will need though, so no big deal. If you need that extra light blast, you got it.
I've had this thing for a over a year now and its just awesome. I now got the Olight X6 and yet these two are quite evenly matched on throw. The X6 just puts out a massive ammount of light, and so does the TK70, almost ;) TK70 about 2200lumens OTF, the X6 5000lumens OTF. Still use both of them.
And yes, choose the NiMH batteries, more capasity and safer in use. I even have some cheap-o ones (biltema) and yet they are great.
Man the X6 was an amazing light. Wish I could still get one, the full body as a huge heat sink and a separate battery pack was so nice because then you could also power it off a 12 volt wall adapter infinitely and I remember some stores selling it with one for that as well. No step down either as I remember.
I got new Tenergy Premiums and it works great now. Awesome light.
I bought one of these when they first came out.
Awesome bang for your buck value.
I also have the Olight SR95 S-UT, it out-throws the TK70 significantly but the Fenix is much more useable. Tons of lumens and still plenty of throw.
@R6Dave11 From what I've read, AccuEvolution D Cells (10,000mAh) seem to be preferred right now. You can find them online.
And I would recommend on using the NiMH batteries! The turbo mode really does drain alot of power. Im using 8000mAh batteries now but I will get the 10000mAh ones.
@R6Dave11 Generally speaking, quality 10,000mAh D-cells should give you about 1 hour of runtime on turbo before dropping down. Testing by HKJ over at candlepowerforums confirms this. If your batteries are poor quality, old or rarely cycled, they may have high internal resistance preventing them from delivering adequate current. Even if just 1 cell out of the 4 is bad or weak, the light will likely drop down.
@goingprepared you know, i have a lot of flashlights. what i have to say, back then flashlight were weak and beam is what you want to look for. now LED's flashlight is so powerful i find it more easy on the eyes with spread out light spectrum.
although, it all depend on the person use.
I just get1 today I can't wait to see outside performance.i have led lenser x21 so will see what different is between.
I have this light and totally love it.
now there is a video we would like to see ;) Next time you venture out to a video filming night.. the TK70 gets out to about 720m and that pretty close to what the SR95UT promises.. Just saying ;) Might be a close match. If you have two cameras, get the other on on the "recieving end" to see what the light look like from that direction.
Im torn between the tk70 and the sr90. Budget wise, the tk70 is my first choice but the sr90 throws more light. I just don't want to regret my purchase...any advice?
@goingprepared ......That's also what I figured. Seen those on several sites. I live in a smaller town that doesn't have any cool shops for tactical stuff or high-end batteries.
@greg03811 ...I found a decent deal on the high-end Tenergy D-Cells ( white ). I ordered them today. I will post how they work out.
I got the TK70 a while ago. I understand the protection feature on " Turbo " mode but it's annoying. It would be nice if it would stay on " Turbo " longer.
I love your videos but please do this TK75 review. I just bought it and waitin' for delivery so now I'm curious even more than before how this light will do on your test area :)
I took it instead of TM11. Final price for Fenix TK75 - 270$, for TM11 - 235$. Panasonic 18650x4 (3350mAh) and Nitecore i4 V2 charger :D Total price for all 355$.
I hope you will do this test soon.
Very good flashlight!!!
The flashlight is powered by
Cassette AA or AAA (parallel or sequence)
batteries 32650 3.6-3.7v (parallel connection 3.6-3.7v)
batteries D 1.2-1.5v
The 4th battery unlocks the turbo mode (2200 lumens), otherwise, you'll be jammed to 930 or so.
Thanks for the great review - I've just subscribed. I do have a comment though... please drop the 4D Mag comparison. In today's market it isn't a benchmark, don't think Mag even sell it any more!! And when looking at flashlights like the TK70 it has no relevance or meaning at all. Using a MagLite as a benchmark is good though in general, but why not use a current LED CREE 3D one, it'll be so much more useful and relevant. Thanks.
Which is more powerfull/brighter..tk70 or olight sr95
What is the best flash-light for long range ? i need a torch that will light up over 250m-500m
Thanks Dan
So from a prepper POV what happens when the power does not work and I cant recharge, what would be the best battery then?
@goingprepared I saw the TK70 kick down at exactly 8:40 right as you start to zoom the camera back out. Does it kick down due to heat or is it timed? How long would you say the light was on turbo before it kicked down? -just what was in the video or did you have it on without video rolling at all?
@300bhpton The problem is that there is no other light out there that everyone knows. Almost everyone knows about mags.
i was wondering because mine does this if your battery is low and you turn it on turbo will it shut off and it wont go on strobe mode
Would you consider Heavy-Duty non-alkaline to substituting alkaline? Do you think they will leak?
Does the 4th battery make it more powerful? And what's the width on the head of this ?
So what is the difference between using 3 D or $ D cells
Does it affect light output or runtimes or both
Thx
Also i.just opened my fenix tk70 n i have the tenergy battery charger plugged in the wall..the 4 leds turned on red ones n the blinked..then they shud off..
How does this compare to a tk 71 I got it and am thinking I want a little more output. Its crazy bright for aa batteries tho
I want to buy your JetBeam BC40 XM-L 830 Lumen Flashlight - Warm.
What does it mean when it says: this product is not available in the Requested Quantity. 1 of the items bliver backordered.
What does this mean?
How much brighter is this than the Surefire M6LT? Is it really noticeable? I just ordered the m6lt, unfortunately you guys were out of stock so i had to get it elsewhere.
@goingprepared Which flash light would you recommend for hunting for the distance and up close?
Does using NiMH improves light output or just battery life?
Are you using the Maglite incandescent because everybody knows that light or are you using it as a representation of maglite?
@goingprepared I have a PowerPac 3W LED and tested using a pair of alkalines. The light was bright but I thought it could be better. I have energizer lithum/e-ion long-lasting batteries too. Do they help in comparison to NiMHs?
Hi where I can buy battery tube and extender and cap with spring?used or new.thanks
Where do you look when you turn it on to full power or strobe? 2200 lumens is quite difficult to look at that close.
@Goingprepared I emailed a Fenix rep and they said that battery leaks inside the tube causing damaged were not covered by their warranty (as you mentioned) and that even an NiMH battery may leak. What is your experience with this possibility? Thanks.
My TK70 has a greenish tint to it, is that normal for the flashlight?
How long before it drops from turbo to high with fully charged nimh?
Does the 4th battery add brightness or run time?
No holster, but does it come with a pocket clip? :D
I have a question! Does 14500 battery same size AA battery???
which would you choose between fenix tk70 or olight sr 92?
Morten Holme from Denmark :)
@goingprepared Okay, I have a friend, who would like to have at flashligt with really good throw and beam, for small money? what can you recommend?
How many videos you have put in youtube???
Is 5000mah enough to run this flashlight?
@goingprepared How long does it take to have it in stock again?
Will It Blend?
Kiitos, it's thank you in finland
@greg03811 ........That's kind of what I figured. I need to get some top quality cells. What are all the light gurus buying ?
Thanks a lot.
That help.
Bought 7 years ago haven't used it in 4.. I loved this light and would like to rejuvenate it with lithium batteries. Has anyone tried?
I'm thinking the simplest way would be to make a carrier holding a pair of 26650's
I just modified my (20) TK-70's with 32620 LiFePO4 batteries. Much better, brighter and hold a charge much much better than NiMH. A must do for TK-70 owners.
how about a de-domed sr90 vs the tk70
pls,answer tk70 or sr95
their great lights, real bright and i want them real bad, but i think the price for them should be under $100 and maybe ill consider it...
how much
I started watching music videos and i ended on a flashlight review...i'm not even mad
@goingprepared Can't you get some home?
@goingprepared The Rayovac "D-cell" batteries you are using in this video are not true D-cells. They are wrapped sub-c cells with only 3,000mah capacity. A true NiMH D-cell should have around 9,000-10,000mah capacity. While better than alkalines, the batteries used in this video simply cannot provide the sustained amperage needed for this beast! This same scenario applies when using AA->D adapters; stick with true D-cell NiMH batteries for best performance and to avoid premature drop in output.
Damn, talk about light cannons!
No more stock :(
Marshall is on a role..........!!!
Quite amazing
I like it
Lol the lanyard thing that was funny
I couldn't even emagine both sr92 and tk70 at same time in front yard I'm pretty sure the police would be involved soon lol
