You've taught me several good turns of phrase. The galloping stupids, wide on, cockknobbling. It's words like this that make my English degree complete. Thank you. Also; Jason is my favorite horror movie monster.

Ahh, Yuuya Kizami, the answer to the question "What kind of creepy weirdos are anime like Eromanga Sensei and Oreimo made for?" Also, for anyone who doesn't know, the manga is him depicted at his most noble. Yes. THIS is THE LEAST BAD Yuuya Kizami is depicted.
@@frightranker The Manga goes with the route that, while he wasn't a good guy, his descent into being a murderer was partially caused by The Darkening and not just something he would have done anyway. Also, Yuka actually feels sad for him when he dies despite everything.
isn’t the timeline supposed to be not chronological? it says in the game at one point that there’s a bunch of time loop and things happening in the past present and future? not sure if it mentions that in the manga. i like that part of it, and i love the idea of the closed spaces. adds another layer of hopelessness to it
14:27 that reminds me of when manlybadasshero was playing your turn to die and he said that the green hair people are always evil/the mastermund.I never found out though as I never finished the series
Great job my friend! Absolutely stellar work as usual. It's so relaxing to just kick back with a beer and listen to your dulcet tones spin a yarn for us, it really is. It's one of my favourite things to do. I hope you got the patreon payment through alright and hopefully no more problems now I've worked out what was wrong. Fingers crossed! Anyway, I hope you two crazy kids are ok and I'll talk to you soon. Will sign up to the Discord tomorrow hopefully, so see you there :) Take care, brother.

That Jason anecdote was definitely worth the tangent - with how much we obsess over pieces of Japanese pop culture over here in the States, I've always loved learning about their equivalents, especially ones like this that I wouldn't have expected.
You would think that certain historical misdeeds committed by the Japanese would discourage them from embracing cultural sentiments related to the the 'sins of our fathers'.
Dude, I remember the Amiga! Sensible Soccer was awesome! It was the start of my football manager addiction xD Edit: Also, thank you so much for not pronouncing it 'ASS-burgers'. I respect you more and more every video my dude.
Why book of shadows is my favorite part of the franchise even though it seems to be the red headed stepchild in terms of ports: Creepy guy with glasses? We get his point of view. Shojo manga character gone psycho? We get a lovely dive into him. Psychic Ghost who spread the curse ritual? We get the story behind WHY and oh god Sachiko was haunting her from before she entered Tenjin. I love this series so much until the final game pulls a GoT and had an ending so bad it ruined the rest of it by default. Nope. I'll just enjoy the story up till that point and isn't it a shame the series never continued? Really, seriously, people, play the games with headphones on. It's the audio and voice acting that turns the story and some of the deaths from silly into OHGODneversleepingagain territory. And I think, Mr. Owl, that your videos so far show exactly why some of the moments just don't translate well without it.
Thanks :) If there is enough interest, I may do Book of Shadows next year some time. The annoying thing about this manga is that it does so many things right, but always finds a new and creative way of dropping the ball.

I agree about Jason, but Michael Myers came before him. Whether Myers was popular in Japan is another story. The whole idea of an unstoppable juggernaut in horror goes back further, with characters like Frankenstein's monster and some 1950s horror films having a similar vibes.
I think the most iconic unstoppable force in horror is Michael Myers from Halloween or even his predecessor Bubba Sawyer from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre as they are the blueprint of that archetype in modern slashers. That's my only gripe in this entire video.

That's...unsettling, lol. I'll give you that it's been a yonk since I played the game, but he was still utterly despicable in both versions.
