  • Today I'll be showing you my new eastonmade axis that just came in. We'll be splitting a bunch of firewood over the next couple days. Have some interesting plans for this machine. Going to be testing its limits and capabilities as well as time trials against other splitters and actual times face cords. Thanks for watching, hope you enjoy and I'll catch you on the next one. Firewood. ‪@EastonmadeWoodSplitters‬

      Could turn it around then it blows the exhaust fumes right into the intake so I have it facing straight up and just cover it when I’m not using it. 👍🏻 💰

    Congratulations! Welcome to the Eastonmade Axis club! We’ve had ours for almost 2 years now and I run some big, nasty stuff through it. You’re going to be really happy. That exhaust is in a bad spot but that on Briggs, not Eastonmade.👍👍👍

    The Axis is a great splitter. It is great at splitting rounds of all sizes and will easily allow you to make 'picasso wood' as Tony Cool Tools likes to say.

    Would love to see.more of the Axis 👍😁. Saw you were interested in a Japa processor sometime in the future. That will really save you time.👍

      Definitely with that perfect split system it would be perfect for me. Plenty of videos coming on the axis for sure.

    Worth the wait! I put the exhaust up and out n mine……. I Just cover it with a turtles chocolate tin when I’m done for the day. What unit number is your axis?
    Also sharpened the knife, works better

      @allaboutoutdoors5083  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      158 is the number and yeah I have the stock exhaust facing upwards now. I use a small patio chair vinyl cover when I’m not using it. Works good

    Great upgrade!!!.. the exhaust is the worst on the vanguard.. either faces you or it faces the air filter and eventually plugs filter or chokes out .. I'm going to have to fix this issue once and for all... as I have to pull off filter to start... ATM... and the choke broke.. all this week... but that Axis is an absolute must have for resplits and custom split.. congrats on the new toy!!!

      Thanks man. I know it’s going to look dumb but was going to just fab up one that you’d see on a tractor straight up with a flapper on top. I do alooottt of bundles. Why I decided to go with this one was precision. 😎 🤟

    Will the wood dry under tarps? How will moisture escape? Only asking because my porch rotted because no air vents were installed by previous owner. I think they called it dry rot. Nice machine, enjoy!

      I’ll uncover and cover as needed. If we get like a week of nice weather straight I’ll uncover it. Have it setup so I can just roll them back. I made the mistake of not covering my wood last year. Had a lot of stuff that I had to give to people because of mold that the leaves caused getting in between the piles. And everything turned gray. Only way to tell what kind it was was the grain In the wood. If you cover just the top it should be fine

    Very nice machine. Making some nice stuff. I’ll be curious how you like it vs the kinetic splitter. I know the log lift alone makes it so much easier to use.

      Ran it for 8 hours non stop the other day. Legit felt next to nothing back wise the next day. Sooo much easier

    You have to explain why the finished product goes in so many different areas is it sorted by species?

    • @allaboutoutdoors5083
      @allaboutoutdoors5083  ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually I do 4 types cherry maple oak and mixed. My mixed consists of pretty much whatever odds and ends types that o don’t have a lot of laying around. I can charge more for a full load of only 1 type of wood as well as opposed to the mix. Mainly it’s for dry times. Cherry only take about 8 months properly stored to dry. Maples right around a year. Oak can be up to 1.5-2 years to be 100% dry especially if it came from a bigger sized tree like 30” diameter and up. Those center splits take forever to dry. Don’t want to have cherry stacked under oak and have to pull your oak off to get to the cherry that’s dry. Those are the main 2 reasons why I separate by species. Premium wood = premium prices 💰

    • @shawnwilliams7041
      @shawnwilliams7041 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's kind of what I thought.. lots of red oak here so I know all about the drying times

    I believe your pneumatic splitter is faster why aren’t you using the conveyor belt?

    • @allaboutoutdoors5083
      @allaboutoutdoors5083  ปีที่แล้ว

      I seperate by type and I mainly only sell cherry maple and oak. The stuff going up the conveyor was oddballs. Black walnut/elm or anything random.
