I have been getting tons of questions in from you guys about life as a dietitian. So in today’s video, I will touch on some of the key topics I get asked about, such as college, the job as a dietitian and my personal experience of working as a dietitian.

The emotional part related to hospital role hit me hard just thinking about it which I wasnt aware before this video. Also I had an end of 20s crisis I guess but as you said, listening to your feelings is the best way to keep going.
Yes unfortunately it does affect me, but my colleagues and family have been helpful in dealing with this. And I have definitely learnt to check in with myself more often and reorientate myself to my goals and values 👍

I'm an American citizen and I'll be taking my Dietetic exam next month to become a Registered Dietitian. I'm finished with my college studies and looking to enroll in a master's program abroad in Ireland, to help reduce costs (studying in the US is ridiculously expensive). I have lots of experience working in clinical nutrition, in rehabilitation, LTC, and acute care. Are you aware of the job opportunities as a Dietitian available to foreigners? Is it more difficult to secure a position? Thank you!
Hi Karissa, there are a LOT of dietitian jobs available in Ireland at them moment. But you will need to be registered here with CORU in order to be able to apply for the dietitian roles. Let me know if you have any questions about this! There is a good facebook page called Irish Nutrition Jobs that we tend to post the majority of dietitian roles in Ireland on :)
Hi I did my bachelor's in food processing and engineering so it possible for me to apply into clinical nutrition and dietetics in ireland?
Hi Didi! Great video:) I have some questions about becoming a registered dietitian in Ireland, perhaps you could help me? I’m an Irish citizen, but I plan to study a 4 year chemical engineering course in the Netherlands next year which will make me eligible to advance in the world of food technology, is this a sufficient course to make me eligible to apply for a Nutrition & Dietetics MSC course (preferably in Ireland) later on? Also if it’s necessary to have a masters degree in dietetics to apply for CORU, is the undergrad degree in food technology credible as a background in nutrition? Or am I wrong in saying a post grad masters degree isn’t essential to be recognised by CORU? Sorry for the lengthy question, but any information would be so helpful!
Glad you enjoyed the video! Firstly regarding whether the chemical engineering course would suffice, I believe it may be helpful to look at the entrance criteria for the masters in ucd, Cork and limerick. Even consider calling/emailing the heads of those courses for more info. A lot of masters students so far have cone from a background in a more biology/healthcare orientated course. But definitely worth checking!
And you either need a bachelor or masters in dietetics. I for example did the coru-approved undergrad.

Are there Filipino Dietitians in Ireland? Did you also take the RD Exam of CDR?
Hi Charmaine. I personally do not know any Filipino dietitians at the moment, but that does not mean that we do not have any here! And I completed a BSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics in Ireland, so passing my degree automatically meant that I could register in Ireland too.

Hi! Thanks for commenting. At the moment, there are a lot of jobs for dietitians in Ireland. To work here, you will first need to register with our registration company called "CORU". I recommend that you check their website to see how you can register here with your degree. Hope that helps!

Hi there 😀 it is different in Ireland to become a dietitian than to become a nutritionist yes. "Dietitian" is a protected term and can only be used by a person who has completed a bsc or masters in dietetics (which includes 1000 hours of practice placement). The term "nutritionist" is not protected, and while some can also study 4 years at bsc/msc to become a nutritionist, others can simply read a book and call themselves nutritionists. 👍

In Spain, a Nutritionist is the one who completed the 4 years university degree and a dietitian is the one who just completed 2 years in undergraduate program.
I would like to get my recognition and register to work in Ireland, but I do not know if after paying they will accept my request... Thanks again
