So talking about Beverly's dad, he basically blames her for her mom's postpartum suicide. He explains in detail about how she killed herself and developed a creepy obsession with his daughter which turned abusive and sexual. She cut her hair because he always strokes it and talks about how much he loves it
Not to forget: "It" scares the kids with their biggest fears. Thats why it scares her with a sh*tload of blood in the bath. It's metaphoric because she is really scared getting her first period and become a "women" in the eyes of her father - she is scared what he will do then.
In the book her dad never sexually abuses her in any way, physically yes but not sexually. Also if you ask me, her dad is rightfully concerned with what she’s doing with the boys out and about in the woods. If you’ve read the book you’ll no what I mean .

"Honestly, Stephen King has a twisted fucking mind to come up with this shit!" Three words: read the book. The ending will haunt you forever. Literally.
Yeah, I'd say ending the part where they're kids with Bev getting gangbanged is fucking haunting. Stephen King WROTE about children having sex and I still think he should've gotten questioned really hard for it. Like, that's just sick. Thank fuck the movie director had more common fucking sense.
She is the one that decides thats how they can defeat him. It stems from multiple places. 1. The ending of childhood and entering adulthood. They mention it over and over again for a reason. The entire book is a life metaphor. The only way to beat a childhood villain/fear is to grow up. 2. She went straight to that theory bc of her and her fathers relationship. Shes damaged and only knows certain things. Its more fucked up when you just say kids gangbang an 11 year old though…
That scene when pennywise comes out the project room screen in the garage was one of the most disturbing scenes I’ve seen in modern horror. It was creepy and disturbing. Maybe just how big his head was but it did the job.

The original Halloween is a good suspense horror film that relies very very little on jumpscares! I'd love to see you see my favorite film, and possibly one of the most important horror films of all time
I hope you do part 2 to this as well! The book's timeline is half when the group of kids are, well, kids, and the other half is when they're adults, so this is only half the story. Would love to see the second movie here as well! Stay awesome man, thanks for the content!
Only problem I have with the original is that it was a made for TV movie, so tons of censorship. I grew up watching horror movies, I want the gore and everything. Other than that Tim Curry is God so the original is a must watch.
@@mattdwilson529 I totally agree. I don’t want to say it’s better than the remake, I do like them equally. But Alex had mentioned the jump scares and I feel the original didn’t have as many as those. It just (to me) feels heavier on using actual scares than jump scares.
So proud of you for getting through this. I adore scary movies, but I get that some people don't. I also love the fact that you are into the budding romance. Please watch part 2. It ties everything up pretty well.
This one followed the book more than the original mini series. I love aspects of both and neither are exactly right. It's such a detailed book one or two movies is just not enough time. I'm hoping one day it can be made into a full miniseries, 13 parts. I think that could be brilliant. And please react to part 2, I adore the adult actors!
Just want to add a special thank you to Alex for being awesome and secure enough in himself to share this reaction with us, because it was absolutely epic 💜 i can think of a few folks out there i’ve seen that, had they recorded a reaction like this, would have been like “it? nope. never had the time to watch it, no reaction, moving on…” so thanks again for sharing and letting us laugh, because many of us remember having been there ourselves 😬
As others have said you have to react to the 2nd part to this, but unlike some other comments, horror is my very favorite movie genre. I love, love, love horror movies. I'd love to see all the horror movie reactions.
*My ex let our son watch this when he was only 6 years old during his weekend visitation. Needless to say, he came home early, became terrified of clowns and couldn't sleep in his bed for weeks. I was so pissed! My older sister had me watch 'The Exorcist' with her when I was only 6 and that jacked me up. "The Exorcist", that's my next movie suggestion for you to react to Alex.* 👿
my sister let me watch the original the evil dead when i was 7. i was terrified of our basement for months and when my mom finally found out why, my sister got grounded for a month 😂 i now thank her for it, because i love horror films, and the evil dead is hands-down my top horror flick of all time. Alex should totally do it... i know he gets squicked out by gore, but it's just campy enough that i think he could take it 😃
Looking forward to seeing you do IT Chapter 2. The Babadook would be my suggestion for a horror that doesn't rely on jump scares. Non-Marvel movie suggestions; The Crow or The Lost Boys.
Awesome reaction! The CGI somewhat bothered me but overall I absolutely love this first film, the kids are so well acted and entertaining. The 2nd film gets some flack but I loved it as well, just too long a runtime. But the adult actors taking their respective roles do such an amazing job!
my friend... i have no words. personally i did really not like this movie at all, but you showed the "enjoyment" some get out of this. thank you so much, please keep on keeping on!
IT is based off Stephen King's book IT. Pennywise is a demon that every 27 years come up to feast. Also Pennywise is everywhere in the movie. I mean everywhere. There are videos out there that go over where to find all the Pennywise Easter eggs. I do suggest watching the second movie as it wraps this story up. But if you have time, I suggest reading the book.
This may be one of my FAVORITE reactions ever! Pennywise has the kids floating and feasts on them during his multiyear sleep so they're already food and won't be able to come back. More scary please! Suggest Arachnophobia from the 90s. John Goodman is hysterical.
There’s once scene I really wish they had recreated from the original and that’s when belch gets sucked through the big pipe thing, that scene truly scared me when I was a kid and it still gives me chills, just the look on his face and how slowly it happens. They could of really killed that scene I don’t get why they didn’t do it. “Nothin like a little fear to make a paper man crumble” I agree it’s a dope ass line 🤣
You need to check out more horror and thrillers - Aliens, The Thing, Terminator, Terminator 2, Predator, Insidious, Jeepers Creepers, Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer.
I'd only recommend ONE horror movie beyond wrapping up IT. It seems like exactly what you want - scary without relying on jumpscares. The Exorcist. The original, the best. It's called one of the greatest films of all time for a reason. And one of the scariest, if not THE scariest. And I can't recollect a real jumpscare in the whole thing!
Great reaction, and I'm sorry you're not fond of horror, but it's been INCREDIBLY fun to re-experience these movies through your channel! 👍🏽 Had to subscribe. Until I saw IT in theaters with a friend, I always avoided the horror genre. But I've never had a clown phobia, so I was confident I could handle it. The jumpscares and transformations still got me, but Chapter One's been my favorite horror film ever since. Nowadays, I actually enjoy horror movies (and the adrenaline that comes with watching them), though I still can't stomach certain types of gore. 😅
I would be obsessed with a horror film love reaction where we can all watch with you that would be awesome! Also may help you feel a little more safe 🤣

I am so glad I found this channel for this movie! Please watch It2 for complete answers to everything. Stephen King is an amazing writer & the original was SUPER creepy as well 😳
Please please PLEASE do it chapter two. It’s truly fantastic, one of my favourite movies ever. I’ve watched it dozens of times. I barely even notice the horror of it anymore, I just love all the relationship dynamics so much.
I've seen a few reactions to the new IT: Chapter One and, forgive me for saying this at your expense, but this is by far the best reaction video I have seen. Not many had literally jumped at the scares; those genuine full body spasm jumps where you cuss and chuckle nervously afterward. Can't wait for your reaction to Chapter Two.
Theory: this movie released 27 years after the original. I think the kids from the original grew up to become the parents of this one, which is why they are defensive and strange with their kids
I grew up watching and HATING horror movies, took me forever to be able to be able to sit through movies with a shit ton of jumpscares. I highly recommend watching pretty much anything by Mike Flanagan, his style relies on semblance, and the horror of emotions. Any of his 3 shows on Netflix(The Haunting of Hill House, Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass) are shows that really paint that horror doesnt need to be jumpscares, or possession, or paranormal stuff. The more you watch, the easier it gets. Even though you’re not fond of horror, I applaud you for checking horror out. You also really gotta check out IT chapter 2, to wrap up the story. For the sake of movie recommendations, I recommend the shining and then follow it up with the sequel Doctor sleep(which is also made by mike flanagan.)
The original IT with Tim Curry was a made for TV, two-part mini series... it is not scary at all, and that is not me being a horror movie elitist with a "you can't scare me" complex. It was literally made for all audiences... unless you hate clowns. It is a very different experience too compared to the 2017 remake. Even now, both versions are vastly different from the actual events of the book. No, Georgie is dead. He lost an arm and bled out and or got ate. No surviving that.
a good way to look at horror films (mostly good or well made horror films, not shit ones) is to look at the film-making techniques from the camera work to how they use foley sound. it might be a way for you to distance yourself from it emotionally a little bit, to kind of dissect it so they don't effect you so much lol. it's so fun and also a great way to learn!
15:58 Since you were asking what does it mean when Pennywise says “float”, there’s actually more to it than the kids’ bodies that are seen floating in the air of Pennywise’s lair. In the book, there are no dead bodies floating in the air. Let me explain because there are two meaning for Pennywise’s “floating”… 1. Pennywise is referring to how all the dead bodies will float in the waters of the sewer after It eats them. 2. This is the real important one. This is something they don’t really explain in the sequel. Because it’s explained in the book or wiki pages if you look it up. Those bright orange lights that Beverly were staring at which put her in a trance are called the “deadlights”. They are Pennywise’s true form. When you stare at the deadlights, two things can happen. One, you’ll die immediately from seeing them. Or two, you go insane. And when I say that, I don’t mean “crazy”. I mean your consciousness is not present. Your soul will not be in heaven or hell. It will be “floating” in limbo. Inside Pennywise’s mind.

Dude it's cool you're getting into horror. I recommend watching the shinning soon
Don't you mean the Shining?
@@dtpc191991 yes i meant to say just was walking
@@dtpc191991 every time someone mentions the shining i hear Groundskeeper Willie from the Simpsons saying "the shinning" so they're the same thing in my mind 😁
DO NOT WATCH MARTYRS IT IS DISTURBING AS FUCK!!!!!.
@@garypasquill2355 all the more reason to watch it
Your reaction was priceless and I laughed so hard. Been following your channel since the beginning and I love that you are doing movies now. Thank you for all you do for us, this is an amazing TH-cam family and it just keeps getting bigger. Hope all is going well. 🙏😊
Love watching you freak out to jump scares. Hilarious. Definitely want you to react to more horror films.
I highly suggest watching the original too. 😂 it’s a different kind of scary. A slow build in my opinion.
For a modern day remake, this was done so well. I agree though.. everyone should see the original of any movie in my opinion though.
Only problem I have with the original is that it was a made for TV movie, so tons of censorship. I grew up watching horror movies, I want the gore and everything. Other than that Tim Curry is God so the original is a must watch.
@@mattdwilson529 💯
@@mattdwilson529 I totally agree. I don’t want to say it’s better than the remake, I do like them equally. But Alex had mentioned the jump scares and I feel the original didn’t have as many as those. It just (to me) feels heavier on using actual scares than jump scares.
I think the framing of the narrative in the original is much better. And Tim Curry is a way better Pennywise.
Guys let’s suggest horror with little to no jump scares
OMG those screams, Alex HAHAHAHA so good :')
thanks for watching!
Alex's reaction to the jump scare scenes are hilarious! haha
*Flings arms around* DAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!
Except that scene....🤢
Someone get this man a god damn acting job in a horror film. Genuine screams all round 😂
Just want to add a special thank you to Alex for being awesome and secure enough in himself to share this reaction with us, because it was absolutely epic 💜
i can think of a few folks out there i’ve seen that, had they recorded a reaction like this, would have been like “it? nope. never had the time to watch it, no reaction, moving on…”
so thanks again for sharing and letting us laugh, because many of us remember having been there ourselves 😬
"Finn Wolfhardt" is such a badass name, and such a good actor.
This book is incredible..and so much different then the movies ..I highly suggest it
If Tolkien wrote horror, IT would be twice as long.
The jump scares while reading is, on a whole other level. So vivid in your mind. Read it as a 14 year old!
"i wanna be friends with these kids"
- alex hefner 2022
As others have said you have to react to the 2nd part to this, but unlike some other comments, horror is my very favorite movie genre. I love, love, love horror movies. I'd love to see all the horror movie reactions.
Life isnt life without the adrenaline from horror movies.
"The Exorcist", that's my next movie suggestion for you to react to Alex.* 👿
exorcist for sure
@@HottPie 💯
my sister let me watch the original the evil dead when i was 7. i was terrified of our basement for months and when my mom finally found out why, my sister got grounded for a month 😂 i now thank her for it, because i love horror films, and the evil dead is hands-down my top horror flick of all time. Alex should totally do it... i know he gets squicked out by gore, but it's just campy enough that i think he could take it 😃
You know what fucked me up at 6? The trunchbull from Matilda 🤣🤷🏻♂️
@@alexhefnerstvmovievault 🤣🤣🤣
Looking forward to seeing you do IT Chapter 2. The Babadook would be my suggestion for a horror that doesn't rely on jump scares. Non-Marvel movie suggestions; The Crow or The Lost Boys.
Awesome reaction! The CGI somewhat bothered me but overall I absolutely love this first film, the kids are so well acted and entertaining. The 2nd film gets some flack but I loved it as well, just too long a runtime. But the adult actors taking their respective roles do such an amazing job!
thanks for watching Zack!
Holy shit😂😂😂 this is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a looong time! Alex’s face on those jump scares😂😂😂
my friend... i have no words. personally i did really not like this movie at all, but you showed the "enjoyment" some get out of this. thank you so much, please keep on keeping on!
I appreciate you stopping by the channel and commenting even though you don’t particularly like the movie!!
You put a lot of effort in this, dude. I REALLY appreciate the touch you give to your videos!
Alien. Remember IT crashed where Derry is like million years ago.
I love the chemistry between the original kids much more. And the relationship to the adults is more defined too.
Oh really?! Damn that’s sick actually!
Bro "it" is fucking hilarious lmfao
The kids that were floating are dead, just a bunch of corpses and so is Georgie
hoping to see chapter 2 this year 🤞
"The parents in this movie only come out to bitch at the kids." Trust me, that's how it seemed to us gen-xers growing up in the 70's and 80's.
This may be one of my FAVORITE reactions ever! Pennywise has the kids floating and feasts on them during his multiyear sleep so they're already food and won't be able to come back. More scary please! Suggest Arachnophobia from the 90s. John Goodman is hysterical.
That’s so terrifying but interesting!
Alex, you cutting back and forth between you holding the phone right handed to the still picture with it in the left hand gives me conniptions
You need to do more horror movies. I love it
I know this was 2 months ago but I really enjoy you reacting to horror movies!
ty!
I would be obsessed with a horror film love reaction where we can all watch with you that would be awesome! Also may help you feel a little more safe 🤣
Love your reactions😁I’m really looking forward to seeing you react to IT ch2 🤙🏽
Now that you've seen this movie, you gotta listen to 'Ice Nine Kills - IT Is The End' you'll get a lot of references now that you know the movie!
Goddamn funny reaction by the way, love that you now put out more than one reaction per week! Keep up the great work!
yeah good song
Have I not done that song yet?!
@@alexhefnerstvmovievault Don't know if you heard it but as far as I know you never reacted to it on TH-cam. But could just be me not finding the video^^
Whoever plays henrys dad belongs in a western. That paperman line was ice cold.
Great reaction! 😊
This reaction popped up on my TH-cam feed just a few minutes ago. I've already subscribed to your channel when I saw that you were reacting to the Marvel movies.
I love this movie! Definitely one of my favorite horror movies. Bill Skarsgård did a phenomenal job as Pennywise.
I would be fine with you not doing any more horror movies if you don't want to. But I do very highly recommend watching "IT: Chapter 2" to finish up the story. And then maybe watch the original 1990 "IT" mini-series. Tim Curry plays Pennywise in that one.
Looking forward to your next reaction. 😊
thank you Randee
Jump scare 12 had ME ROLLING!!!!
Loved your reaction 😅
As someone from the older crowd, I just want to say
You can still watch the original IT movie 🎥
Maybe during Halloween time you can add it to your list? ❤
Alex, my guy, it’s been 2 years…. We need Chapter Two, pretty please lol 🙏
I am so glad I found this channel for this movie! Please watch It2 for complete answers to everything. Stephen King is an amazing writer & the original was SUPER creepy as well 😳
thanks for tuning in!
I 100% want Alex to react to nothing but horror movies now
Please please PLEASE do it chapter two.
13:57 21:10 😂😂😂
Theory: this movie released 27 years after the original. I think the kids from the original grew up to become the parents of this one, which is why they are defensive and strange with their kids
POST CHAPTER 2
For the sake of movie recommendations, I recommend the shining and then follow it up with the sequel Doctor sleep(which is also made by mike flanagan.)
six different ways being used in this movie just makes it even better
The original IT with Tim Curry was a made for TV, two-part mini series... it is not scary at all, and that is not me being a horror movie elitist with a "you can't scare me" complex. It was literally made for all audiences... unless you hate clowns. It is a very different experience too compared to the 2017 remake. Even now, both versions are vastly different from the actual events of the book. No, Georgie is dead. He lost an arm and bled out and or got ate. No surviving that.
23:31 Boy do I have the version of IT for you... LOL
Dude you're funny I love the scary movies so you're making me laugh my ass off thank you LOL
a good way to look at horror films (mostly good or well made horror films, not shit ones) is to look at the film-making techniques from the camera work to how they use foley sound. it might be a way for you to distance yourself from it emotionally a little bit, to kind of dissect it so they don't effect you so much lol. it's so fun and also a great way to learn!
I love how he has a Michael Myers head in the background
15:58 Since you were asking what does it mean when Pennywise says “float”, there’s actually more to it than the kids’ bodies that are seen floating in the air of Pennywise’s lair. In the book, there are no dead bodies floating in the air. Let me explain because there are two meaning for Pennywise’s “floating”…
24:48 ...Who's gonna tell him?
I got bill as penny tatted on my thigh lol need more horror on this channel too funny 😂
Doesn't help with Michael Myers peeking over 😳
haha
My god we need more scary movies Alex. Love the reactions to them! You need to check out the rest of the conjuring series!
