    This is a great source of info. I have a Vantage Pro and a Verus and I am baby in diapers compared to u. I'm learning with the Vantage Pro how to do relative compression with just plain battery voltage and with an amprobe. Turning the trigger on and off sometimes confuses me. But I am learning. I am overwhelmed at times. One thing I want to do is make the in cylinder pressure transducer system u have on your channel. Thank u! U have an amazing grasp of this stuff. U most have a rich background in this field.

    I have been testing the OSC2002 and so far I like it ,have some bugs that are being worked out but definitely seems suitable for automotive diagnostics minus primary ignition. I feel like with a X100 probe you'd lose a lot of the finer details on the lower voltage end of the wavform like saturation oscillations

    • @theGADGETSplaylist
      @theGADGETSplaylist  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +ElectronMark Boggess - Primary ignition work is troublesome and overrated. You have to protect scope from 400v induction spike and as you point out, you then have no resolution for the lower voltage details.
      The solution is to avoid it. Bring a COP probe to the party. The secondary will mirror what going on with the primary and vice versa.
      A current clamp on the primary is OK but back probing the control is not worth it...in my opinion.
      Will you be making a video on the OSC2002?

    • @electronmarkboggess63
      @electronmarkboggess63 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@theGADGETSplaylist after they fix the bugs I have pointed out I will post a one the fly video of me using it for testing.. so far I have shared it on my Instagram page in which I have lots of followers in both automotive diagnostics and electronics. I agree and the only time I have used primary ignition is if the COP is so insulated that I can not get a good trace. I work on mostly 2011 and newer vehicles and most now are 3 and 4 wire systems and all the switching is done within the coil and all you can see is the 5V trigger pulse to fire the coil. Ignition current ramping is becoming more common method in my opinion.

  • @pauliroha5506

    Thanks for the explanation. Please what attenuator would you recommend to enable one probe voltages up to 12V

    • @theGADGETSplaylist
      @theGADGETSplaylist  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Paul Iroha - the HANTEK HT-201 is a 20:1 attenuator that is easily found and inexpensive. It has its place where large induction spike voltages are expected. But it is too much attenuation to just bring these oscilloscopes in the 12v working range.
      PICO makes a 10:1 attenuator. You'll have a hard time to find it and you will pay dearly for it.
      That is why GADGETS#28 was developed. It is a 4:1 attenuator. Build one and your 5v scope will be a 20v scope:)

    Thank you for video I've seen few of your videos and I never thought something like gas analyzer and other things can be made DIY.
    You got me curious enough to test. What would you recommend for newbie in oscilloscope field
    OSC482, HS402W or picoscope 2204?
    I seen in your last videos You started to use OSC482 is the HS402W not good enough? "to me the wireless option is awsome"
    Thanks in advance for any of your thoughts.

    • @theGADGETSplaylist
      @theGADGETSplaylist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The easiest entry is OSC482
      HS402 project is awesome in either USB or WiFi but requires effort (fun) to build
      All of the above powered by HScope will outperform the base PICO 2204
      If you tackle some of the more advanced GADGETS on the channel, you may find it useful to look us up on the HScope TELEGRAM group:)

    Thanks for the video. Please on the software where you have 1x, 10x and 100x, can they be used to probe a 12v instead of getting an attenuator ? thanks

    • @theGADGETSplaylist
      @theGADGETSplaylist  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Paul Iroha - no...those are 2 different things.
      An attenuator is hardware that curbs the input voltage to not go "overscale" and to protect the oscilloscope.
      Probe selections within the software are "multipliers" applied to the input voltage. They can even produce a scale in Kv as an extreme example with the input voltage still within its +/-5v range.
      Most budget oscilloscope come in that input range thus the reason for GADGETS#28 to make them friendly to automotive use without excessive attenuation.

      +antonio zanabria - true that the power supply coming into an oscilloscope is very important concerning noise.
      The 1008C is a great scope that allowed thousands of us entry into this field at a very low cost. It is noisy. And it is bad for needing re-calibration as it warms up.
      This LOTO OSC482, in the same price range is a cut above.

    Hi, thank you for taking the time and effort to make this video, it is very informative. I want to purchase this OSC482 and use it with the HScope but I am not sure if it supports android. The manufacturers website says the OSC482M has the android support but watching your video I see where you use the OSC482 with the HScope. Did you use it straight out of the box with the HScope or did you have to do some modification?

The reason i got to this page was actually a hantek 1008c wich came up for sale unused for 25$ but someone managed to buy it before me. But now that i watched some of your videos im thinking i might be better of with this scope wich i think is cheaper when bought new as wel.

    • @theGADGETSplaylist
      @theGADGETSplaylist  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      OSC482 is by far the best choice Bob.
      Sure, it doesn't have 8 channels but there's no comparison for performance.
      I advise to stay away from models with suffix like "M" or "F" ... these refer to an Android version targeted for Chinese bypass of Google Play Services.
      We want the "plain" OSC482...
      Can get HScope at Play Store (if desired) later. And the LOTO Windows based software is better than HANTEK's as well.

  • @typxxilps
    @typxxilps 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You had shown the android app. Did you buy the PC version or the PC + android OSC482M which is 20$ more.
    I wonder if that is only about the micro USB adapters for the phone or a different hardware ?

    • @theGADGETSplaylist

      OSC482M is targeted for countries denied access to Google Play Store (which is required for HScope to run)

      @@theGADGETSplaylist thanks a lot cause saved me a lot of money due to Loto fooling people on amazon as they claim not to know about hscope if that is working with the osc482. They wanna upsell and force customers to buy those from them. For example I need the Logic Analyzer which is about 80€ instead of 65€ incl. VAT on aliexpress.
      Without your advice I would be forced to buy the H modell for 127€ instead incl. a signal generator and the android licence.
      I mention this cause loto has closed some features by firmware for example the Logic Module. If you do buy that logic module later then you are screwed cause it will not work with any of the OSC* models cause you need to ship that back to the factory for a firmware upgrade. No one will ship that cause it is far too expensive to pay that twice so you have to know about to get the right model. The signal generator can be bought afterwards and works, the Logic Module not.
      Now I can get the OSC482L and purchase the app directly from Marin Lorens site.
      And those loto guys are still fooling the amazon US and EU customers about the need to buy the M or F versions if they wanna get Android support. The only thing they add to the package is the OTG adapter.
      Again: thanks a lot for the reply and the videos, which I wateched in the last 2 weeks a lot of them.

      Have you checked GADGETS#56 where I feature the OSC2002. It may be a better option for your line of work. A bit more pricey. Not HScope supported (at present time) but the LOTO Windows software is pretty good and the specs of that oscilloscope are more targeted to audiophiles.
      However, the the low frequency of the woofers you quote could be handled by OSC482.

      +Ron Sneyd jr - some time after the publishing of this video, LOTO added all those OSC482x suffixes. Most of these relate to accessory bundles, but the "M" and the "F" include a "built in" version of ANDROID.
      I think you'll be OK and be able to install HScope but give me a couple days to confirm this with Martin Loren, the developer.
      I'll get back to you.
      Am pleased you like the videos, Ron:-)

      @@ronsneydjr3509 - just use it out of the box as is when you get it. See what you think of the built in ANDROID.
      You can then make a decision if you want the HScope APP and the AUTOMOTIVE MODULE (which I recommend) later.
      These LOTO products are quite nice. A lot of oscilloscope for the money!
      Also, you may want to order the HANTEK HT-201 attenuator (20:1)...easy to find online and inexpensive...very useful for these +/-5v input oscilloscopes.
      Have fun!

      Recent and well done review.
      I question their €100 ... perhaps with accessories...because this oscilloscope can be had for $60 and tough to beat when compared to other offerings in the same price range.
      AND, it is supported by HScope which squeezes the performance out of it.
      Thanks for sharing, Jos!

    Oh No. You're costing me money again :-)
    Did you mention - Can it trigger on one of the channels?
    Thanks for the review.
    I went and looked on Amazon. It says it will trigger on Channel A. I wonder if that means ONLY channel A.
    We poor Canadians are going to have to pay over $100 for it too. So annoying.

      +Dave Sage - another reason behind the CH A only triggering is that the DB15 connector can also provide external hardware trigger...and that goes through CH B

    • @theGADGETSplaylist

      +Dave Sage - I checked further and the CH A only trigger applies to the Windows software. HScope supports triggering on both channels.
