Thats a white noise beeper, it works by using broadband sound and only warns people in the direct vicinity of the reversing truck. So weirdly you cannot hear it from the front and sides of the truck which is good for night and early morning pickups. This will be the new Australian standard for backup alarms in the near future, if we haven't already done it for new trucks. Its heaps better than the old beepers.
Apparently the JP5 will no longer be produced, which is a shame, my favourite rear loader :P Loved packing a load into these trucks and then seeing the pile once you pushed it out! Yep there were some real good blokes to work with back there.
you have to have funny blokes to work with dont ya :D makes your workplace the best hahaha :D at the start and the end was funny as anything ! cheers Liam
That was a tight load, the Warringah RL guys are pretty funny blokes, good to see they have a great sense of humour. The JP5 sure does do a good job, will MJ still make it for customers who want a heavy duty body for hard waste if they don't want an UrBin? I thought I heard that mentioned by someone a few months ago. Great work anyway mate!
Sadly not, this was taken at the actual landfill tipping face, they used to pick out mattresses and large whitegood items where possible, the rest got buried unfortunately. It's been a very slow process getting waste reduction and resource recovery systems in place for the kerbside bulk clean-up waste stream.
Too bad the drive past the scale to the actual dump site wasn't any longer lol, would've enjoyed some more narration ;) Maybe a future vid will make up for it. Awesome stuff, not extremely familiar with seeing trucks unloading bulk, but this actually appeared to be a lot..unlike most times when bulk is packed and I imagine that there ends up being lots of air in the body. Do you ever still unload here? Or was that only with URM?
+Trashman242 I always have a laugh when I watch the first part again, there were some damn good guys to work with back at URM, plenty of humour going around. This truck and it's twin 123 packed pretty tight in the body, they just kept putting the bulk away somewhere inside that 28m of capacity, not too much airspace left over. Average of bulk we used to get on these two big ones was always benchmark 7t, but average was more 7.5t and the best I did on a dry load was 8.64t. Never unload here anymore, only a URM thing - but there are a couple of other councils not part of the region which come in to unload greens.
+MitchellM15 Funny other thing I was thinking before I dropped that original comment was how when I was a helper I'd bet on the tonnage of the load with my driver the same way lol, funny how close you can get sometimes. Then other days you think you know how much you put on and you're a whole ton off...that's great that you had some lengthy experience coming as close as possible to the old, manual rearload resi pickup style with those bulk collections in your URM days. I often thank God I was able to experience working some classic rearload myself, wouldn't have happened if I didn't move out of state from CA :)

Excellent video and brilliant commentary. Keep up the great work guys.
that beeper everyones talkin about is really good. not like east waste ones. they go really high pitched beeping. head 360 degrees around the truck

Awesome vid ! :)
Does that stuff still get recycled, somehow? Dump everything in a landfill doesn't seem right.

It's up to residents to recycle and they have separate trucks for that. Once it's in a garbage truck, it's too late, it's GARBAGE!
