these sets were a nightmare for locals, but we know players dont give a shit about the people who sell to them directly, while komoney doesnt.

Unsure why you would say that the people who buy them dont give a shit about the person selling them when people at my locals, including myself bought a box to see what we get, get staples i didnt have already, and support my shop?

One of the biggest tragedies in the game is that we're not allowed to use OCG cards, it's so sad that we can hold rare Fuwaross but a decision to make different card stock 20 years ago means they might as well be Vanguard cards.

It very much does feel like a slap in the face, being able to get that much cardboard for that prices makes YuGiOh seem like a real game, an affordable hobby in Japan. Feels bad. I'd like to support and help the game grow as a player, but not by paying the high prices of some of the singles rn.
We all say "I wish we had ocg rarity" but we still buy boxes of each new set. As long as we buy product, they aren't going to change it. If you truly want to see change, stop buying core sets for TCG. The TCG rarity gouging has honestly become unacceptable at this point
Konami has no incentive to make the cards affordable, unless people stop giving them money this will only keep getting worse.

I bet if the card prices were the same as in the OCG, many people wouldn't complain about the game so much because even a metadeck would be affordable (without mentioning the current state of the game).
Konami should ensure tcg and ocg prints same rarity in every pack idk why the split it’s just hard for 3rd world countries in the tcg to get cards 1500 dollar decks then gets wrecked by a banlist 8 months after
Kinda funny to me that other TCG literally do this. Pokemon, one piece, digimon etc have same structure of their JP box to EN box afaik.

The price to pay for cheap cards and better quality is Maxx C but hey, i'd rather play the cheap card game and superior quality than expensive af cards.

What are you trying to say with "Wake up sheeple!"? I'm sure we are all aware that we are playing with terrible conditions compared to the OCG (minus the maxx C of course). But it's not something we can really change if we still want to play the game and I'd rather have bad conditions than not play at all. I'll just stay away from the tier zero decks, that way the prices aren't that terrible if I just buy singles
I was in Japan last month for the first time and I was actually dumbfounded about not only the quality but als the availability, almost every shop had some sort of ygo cards and I saw A LOT more OTS's compared to where I live. Idk how it is in the US but where I live I need to go to the one OTS I know to buy cards and stuff, no store sells them
@@CMaxoknight31 it depends where in the states that you are some areas of a country like the coasts have more shops, but other places like in smaller towns and cities have maybe one shop that carries Yu-Gi-Oh products and OTS stores for some people is very difficult

If TCG boxes were like this, I would buy one or two boxes per set. I barely buy 6 - 8 packs monthly (not always) just to get the lost art but knowing is a hit or miss to get "something".
There really needs to be a movement to make the game more affordable. It still makes me sad that TCG is much more expensive compared to the OCG

Two reasons the game is so expensive game stores and the secondary market using these products to make their profit from singles.
And collector/investors ruining card games with their dog water intentions to profit. Card games used to be more generous with their availability and access, but a huge push for "value" from their purchases of box sets and complaints about reducing cards value from reprints caused this mess people just like to blame the company for accommodating the "players" wishes.
It’s crazy that these pieces of cardboard can end up costing more than a video game console or computer and people act like that’s perfectly normal or acceptable
Hence why I haven't been to an OTS in months nor have I spent money on packs aside from using my store credit. Money talks and I would love the change. It's sad watching a teenager play the same deck over & over because they have limited funds to make something good without all of us chipping in to help.
Gonna learn to play commander and maybe have a couple of decks for that in the meantime.

Have you try Asian-English format? They have the same cards as OCG, but in English language.

But the advantage is they can be used for OCG format for countries outside Japan, china and Korea.
This only reinforces my belief that switching to dual masters was the right choice.
The fact the thing stopping TCG players from being OCG players is one level 2 Earth Insect is so funny to me. Price is always the biggest reason why I'll stick to Master Duel instead of ever approaching the TCG as a format.
I'm don't think that's the reason tbh. Even if there is maxx C, lot TCG players would kill to play OCG format instead if cards can be that cheap, not to mention better quality, rarities, and uncensored artwork.
But the real reason is if u live in TCG countries, there is no choice, as Konami won't allow u to play OCG cards in their events, and u need to stick to TCG format and cards if u want to play outside locals.

I like when cards have a shiny name, and unlike Secret or Ulti, Rares let you see the art clearly. Ultra is basically Rare but better.

After that I mostly got RA01.
Haven't had much reason to get a core set, personally. I remember getting some AGOV but I pulled a few Wanteds when they were at their peak so I don't think I was looking for Rares, haha.

is there a reason why TCG players can't purchase and use the OCG prints in the TCG format? I can understand the language barrier being a factor but other than that I don't see a reason to not play the arguably better format (no Maxx C) with the cheaper, better quality cards, I mean it's only a single google to check what a card does. Keen to hear some thoughts and opinions
OCG cards can't be used in TCG local/official events because of different ruling. You can use them only if you play with friends
You said in your own comment: the quality Is different, making them recognizable while shuffling. A well trained hand can fairly easily stack the deck When using both tcg and OCG Cards.

You do have to keep in mind that these card prices are based on the Asian market; €200 is, relatively speaking, more money in that region. Now, obviously it's still much cheaper, but it's good to keep it in mind. Also, the TCG system hasn't been in place for that long; as you must remember, we also had cards in multiple rarities, and card prices have definitely been much crazier over here in the past 7 years or so.

Yep living in Asia and playing Yu-Gi-Oh is bliss, but the money you save has to be spent on learning the language for playing at events. Still loving it though 😉
Language aint too much problem tbh as u can check Google. Unless maybe u are tourist in that country.
Also asian English is a thing now, tho still released kinda slowly and lack older cards.
@@invertbrid Google will only get you so far, being able to talk and discuss things with other players and judges is super important. In China, where I live, you may not be able to play properly in big events without a basic level of Chinese. Plus, you know, you can make some local friends too 😁

to put it into perspective a single rota booster pack here cost around $1.5 and the new mulcharmy costs around 4x of that

Not that crazy, Pokémon TCG will have a common, super, secret, and the crazy full alternate art version all in the same set. Keeps the price points a lot lower.
Really wish the TCG would give us rares for every holo printed card. It would make yugioh soooooo much cheaper and more accesible plus people would open the sets for the secrets and QCSR cards no loss really

Damn what a scammmmm! Half those cards aren't even worth more than 10 cents, after being converted to USD.
IMO, the TCG ratios wouldn't be that bad IF:
1) They didn't print these game-warping cards every single set; since AGOV, it feels like there's been a non-stop wave of high-rarity cards that a typical competitive player NEEDS to have to be able to play optimally. Like, why have they printed Fuwaross and Dominus Impulse only 1 set after Purelia and Dominus Purge? Why not space them out, like they did with the Ghost Girls?
2) The budget options weren't the most obnoxious, swingy decks imaginable. Tenpai, Gimmick Puppet, Runick Stun, Branded w/ Puppet Lock - all these decks just create a meta where skill factors very little into the equation, and even the best player can be repeatedly blown out by something out their control.
As for the possibility of OCG ratios coming to TCG, I'd like to see it, but I have strong doubts they'd ever drastically change their core set structure like that. What I will say though is that I cannot stand the current 10-Secret-Rares structure we have currently; all it has done has made the sets have more "dud" Secrets and Ultras. We should be getting 3 Secrets and 5 Ultras per box with those ratios. Even this bare minimum would help the situation somewhat.

Ey something working doesn't mean it couldn't be better for everyone including Konami right-I'd never consider playing paper, but if it was more affordable to keep up, I'd maybe consider getting involved - I imagine I'm not alone in that. And it's not like it's because there's master Duel now, before MD I didn't play at all, just followed some Ygo content here and there. It'd be seen as a risk to switch structures, but the potential for new players could outweigh that.
But we players decide the price of the cards, if we organice ourselves like they sure do in ocg, we will only pay 15 dlls max for fuwaross if no one is willing to pay more than that for the card.

TCG got a taste of OCG set prints with Soulburning Volcano, but no one wanted it because it was a niche set.
Soulburning Volcano did not have OCG-style multiple rarities, so I really don't get what you're trying to say.
People didn't buy it because, at the time of release, there were zero good cards in it, and by the time Raging Phoenix picked up in playability, it was too late; the damage had already been done.
@@UshiUshiKakuThe2nd I said it was a taste. The five cards per pack, thirty packs per box is the standard structure for an OCG box. Then you also have the contents of each pack being 3-4 commons with 1-2 rare and/or super rare or higher card. Buying a box yields you similar quantities of super and ultra rares to standard TCG boxes, the only thing missing from it was secret rare and alternate rares (though there was a Ghost Rare Salamangreat Sunlight Wolf in the set). King Dempsey was used in some Infernoble and Flame Swordsman decks, the few players that used them, Volcanics got another glimpse in the light with FTK builds with and without Snake Eye. Personally, this set got me into Salamangreat for a good while.

@@otterfire4712 It's apples and oranges; Duelist Packs have a smaller set size and less Ultras, so it's not really indicative of what core sets could be. Duelist Packs also just tend to be very bad products in general, so even if they're better structurally, there's no incentive for players to buy those sets.
I really don't think the TCG playerbase is ignorant of what OCG gets, and it's definitely not on us for the current state of things. This is all on Konami.
